  • Crescent Mountain, elevation 8,947ft, is located in the Jefferson County Open Space in Colorado. On a clear day its summit boasts great views of the continental divide to the west, and the Great Plains to the east. This video shows the easiest route to reach its summit. The route starts from the overflow parking lot of Chapel in the Hills near Coal Creek Canyon road, follows a social trail to climb steadily about 1000ft to gain the ridge in 1.1 miles. From there one basically follows the ridge line up/down for another mile or so, reaching Jacks Peak summit first before dropping down 300+ft, then scrambles to the top of Crescent Mountain. There are some bushwhacking/route finding challenges involved, but the entire route can be kept at Class 2. There are summit registers on top of both Jacks Peak and Crescent Mountain. Total hiking stats: 4.4 miles with 2,100ft elevation gain
