Zakk wylde's rendition is not really good in my opinion. What you call emotion is a combination of squeals and wylde vibrato here and there. While in other songs it lifts them off, in crowley is off a bit.
I prefer gus g, skolnick for that one live and randy's student joe holmes. Every one of them played it clean and like randy used to in a sense.
It's like this for me, rhoad's playing (and the others) could translate great with dynamics even on acoustic guitar...it's their precision and tone. Zakk wylde's, no. He is purely electric for this kind of stuff (though he has great acoustic songs on his own) and for mr crowley, he's just too zakk wylde for the feeling of the song.
He doesn't connect with what the song really commands in a sense.

I pains me to say this, but this performance is better than Randy. This is truly a work of art by Gus. Randy was a phenom, but he missed the advancements of tone. Jake and Zakk propelled Ozzy to new heights with songs, or at least continued his legacy, but Gus is on another level.

Just went back to back comparing 2018 Zakk playing this live and I am not sure why pinch harmonic sloppy Zakk gets soo much love. Gus G plays the basics of the solo clearer, his vibrato is better placed, and he is a much cleaner player. Dig this guy.

Gus was definitely very impressive but nobody seemed to fit Ozzy better than Jake overall.
There’s definitely props to all of his guitarists for their playing abilities but writing also needs to be considered to decide best overall guitarist.
Randy was definitely #1 in my book but Jake no doubt deserves the #2 spot followed by Zakk.
Jake’s work on Bark at the Moon was a prime example.🔥👍🤘
