Really useful review, definitely subscribing, you cannot find reviews like this anywhere else as there is only positive feedback on websites and facebook groups. Thank you so much for being straightforward and honest!
Thank you for the review, saved me 800 bucks. I’ve been searching for that magic low wind wing, I use a boom so this one looked good. I’ll keep searching.
Same Looking for a lightwing wing. Got the 2022 Superpower 6m and the 2022 Unit D-Lab 5.5m Not necessarily looking for a boom but handles would be nice also. The Ventis is pretty pricey and got a huge wingspan though.
Thanks for the honest review! It’s always hard to find the not-great reviews. I only weigh 63 kg but live in Bellingham, the Droid UPEA 5m has been good in 10 knots (hard for me to know the exact wind though).
Thanks for youi review! How often did you use it before doing this video? It sounds, like you did not get used to it. Did you use it a few times after that video, any change in your opinion?
I used the SuperPower 3 times, from extremely light to medium wind conditions. Including 2 local race events. I really wish I had better on-water footage to share than what's in the video. No, I never got used to it. There needs to be noticeable upsides to a piece of gear to justify muscling through its shortcomings. Here unfortunately, there was very little to justify putting in the effort 😔
@@AlanAllegret Thanks. Most people I talked to told me they needed some time to get to love it ;) I have the old SuperPower 7,5m and love it, but it is starting to get old... So I was hoping to get the new version as an update. But I never wanted a boom, that's the first problem...
Great review! It's a pity that I haven't seen such feedback some 3 months ago when I purchased the Pulse UPEA. It catches back wind at every opportunity. I believe that the double skin design is immature as there is no internal structure and no pressure between the layers. It's just an additional piece of cloth on the intrados that requires back hand pressure to keep the correct airflow, otherwise it backwinds and produces a huge negative lift. This is especially annoying in gusty wind. Very unpredictable and unpleasant wing.
Hello, these DP wings are perf wings and handling is more difficult for sure but you get more of it once you know how to deal with it. Going upwind, tack are easy once ou get the correct technic that is not the same at all as a classical wing. Look at evolution of races: everybody is developing DP wings because it as best upwind and best speed for sure.
Looks like the double skin doesn't go far enough back on the wing compared to the Team Series. Making the angle too short and step could allow the flow to separate causing some instability.
The team series Pulse was really totally unstable, catching backwind as soon as you release back hand, for example to adjust the harness line before hooking in. The Pulse UPEA might be the worst wing in the history of wingfoiling! I just cannot understand how come this double skin passed the early prototype phase!
Unfortunately yes :( And I believe that "something wrong" is the Double Profile, I think it was a mistake for the SuperPower. Because now we end up with a wing that overlaps way too much with the Pulse, but not quite as good at the Pulse's program. And it destroyed the ability of the SuperPower to be GONG's ultra-light wind wing, which (I believe) was its program in the past. So I hope 2025's SuperPower will NOT be DP.
I believe good true ultra-light wind wings are: the Duotone Ventis and the F-One CWC (the V4 can have rigid handles). They are very close in design, for good reason: it's what works. Wing tips cut off. Additional mini-struts. A light as can be. Etc. They are also both pretty expensive. There are probably other options that I don't know yet.
You don't like my giant nose? Seriously though, I wish I had any on water footage to show. Especially for the Heineken jibes. I just didn't keep the wing long enough.
Because they probably use the Pulse instead. Not the SuperPower 😊 Remember, this is not a review of GONG wings, but of specifically the SuperPower, and even more so, the 7.5m.
Their team riders have a very high level and an extreme tolerance to pain: riding the Pulse UPEA is very far from pleasant, especially doing tacks is complicated.

This is my favorite comment, because that is 100% why I made the video. Now I'm stoked to make another one soon. Thanks!

Good to hear 😊
With its long front handle, you might like the Duotone Ventis. It's a true ultra-lightwind wing. But it is way more expensive...

Glad you find it useful. I'm sure the Droid is a good wing, I heard good things about it!
Awsome review! Would love to see more reviews from you 😍
Very nice video. Clear and concise
, thumbs up
Nice video and honest review 👍

It's very possible. All I can say is that it was already really stable at speed, if you did manage to take off...

Ah oui ? Meme les anciennes SuperPower etaient bof ? Ca se comportait comment en vol ?

If a giant wing like that doesn‘t get you going at 10 knots, it means there‘s something seriously wrong with it.
I doubt I can get up in 10 knots, even with your favorite light wind wing. But I blame my lack of skill.
What is your recommended light wind wing?
Unfortunately yes :(

Priority should be given to the image of the wing and not his face.

No good for racing ? Then how come the team wins races - even one race they got places #1 #2 #3
