About This Video:
Jeremy Vassar of Practical Painting introduces Part 1 of the Painting a Bedroom series. You'll learn how the course is set up, the supplies needed for painting a room, and the most common paint supplies for beginners.
Really glad to find your Vassar Brother's channel. My opinion, yours, is the best by far that helps DIY paint beginners. Viewed many of your more recent episodes. Now TH-cam bringjng the earlier ones 3 to 2 years back.
I’m glad you’re finding the videos to be useful! I’ve got a lot more content coming!
This is outstanding, thank you so much for this. Painting our house and there’s so much conflicting info out there, great to come across a nice proven process that we can simply follow. Again thank you so much 🙏🏽
Glad we can help Amare. Our way isn't the only way, but we think its pretty good :)
We bought a home that has extensive nicotine staining, and these videos have helped greatly to help paint over damage! Thank you so much!
I'm glad you've found them to be helpful! Smoke stains are no fun, but can definitely be fixed using the right products. Check out this video on priming if you experience any bleed through areas. Thanks for watching!

Very thorough and informative. Thank you!
You are most welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the great content! I hope these amazon links are affiliate links bc I'll definitely be making a purchase. I'm prepping a house for sale and it needs a whole paint job but now I feel confident about the project
Thanks Jamie. Not sure if the links still work. Still the right products for you tho. Good luck on the sale of your house!
Do you have a video about the best paint for repainting interior walls?
This would be the one: THIS is the Best Wall Paint I've Ever Used // Pro Painter Explains Why

Hey--what's crackin'? Ordered using your links so you could get some shekels! Thanks for these videos. Paint tray question--the link above isn't the one you used in your video. I think it held a gallon of paint and appeared to be metal. Give me that sweet affiliate link!
Hi Julie, they don't have the gallon trays that we usually use on Amazon. You can get those metal gallon trays at Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, Lowes, or any Benjamin Moore store. They should also sell black plastic inserts that go in them as well. Thanks for using our links and watching the video! Happy painting!😁
Thoughts on Emerald vs Emerald Designer for walls? I'm a DIY home owner and newbie at painting. I'm not price sensitive, but I'm curious if you have any experience with Emerald Designer and if it's good stuff. Thanks for doing this channel!
Hi David. Flattery will get you everywhere with us :). We like Emerald a lot. We have no experience with Emerald Designer. I briefly looked it up and it seems their are only 200 colors to choose from. Looks like awesome paint tho. Since your a newbie I would focus on building your paint skills. Great paint helps, but 95% of it is prep and application. Good luck!
@@SuperVassarBrothers 200 colors is a big trade-off, so I wouldn't force it knowing that. I'm looking forward to stepping through the rest of the videos in this series to build up some knowledge and then get to painting!
Thanks for answering my question and have a great week!
So my main brush (purdy) is showing its age. So i want to get a new one. Ive noticed you use a corona cortez and a corona vegas 2 1/2 brush. Wich one would you recommend for use with benjamin moore advance?? I will also be using sherwin williams duration matte as well. Thanks 😊
I responded to your other comment, but I use a Vegas for trim and a Cortez for the walls and ceiling
The best
Thanks! I hope the video helped!
Do you find 8 Oz to be thick enough to not have the paint bleed through?
For how we use them, they’re plenty thick. We’re mainly looking for protection from splatter. If we have a big spill then they still give us enough time to pull them up and address the spill.
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Is the duration a 2 in 1 paint and primer ?
I’ve Never painted and cant decide between Behr or Sherman . I don’t mind paying for either brands top paint “ marquee or emarld” just don’t know if its over kill.
So the paint and primer in one is kind of a gimmick. Primers and paints serve two different functions, but the paint companies like creating 2-1 products that end up not working the best. In my experience its better to use a primer for priming and a good finish paint for your top coats. (I should probably make a video about this, so thanks for the question). Anyways, I don't use Behr products much but they tend to be priced lower than some of Sherwin Williams products. However, I believe there is sale going on at SW right now and you can get 35% off most products. We prefer the Duration line of wall paints. Thats the line right under Emerald. There's nothing wrong with using Emerald, but Duration is a bit cheaper and finishes really nice. We usually use the Matte finish on the walls. Good luck with your project!
