You seem just as comfortable doing 500W in the 60 rpm range standing as you are doing 500W in the 80 rpm range sitting. They seem interchangeable for you. Do you find one more efficient than the other or are you just trying to spread the load between musculature and heart? Fast twitch and slow twitch? I'm almost always in a high cadence(90-100 rpm range) to try and keep my legs fresh for a sprint but I'm pondering whether there might be some benefit to adding in more standing / lower cadence to give the lungs and heart a rest - especially indoors as aero isn't an issue there. Also, having seen your sprint before, I knew how that was going to end 😅
@@E.M.B.R yeah you hit the nail on the head. 500 feels good for both seated and standing. I use standing to lower the heart rate and seated to spin the legs out and incorporate a feeling of getting recovery even if it's not actually recovery. Plus interchanging between the two uses different muscle groups. Over the last year I've changed my pedalling technique to be hamstring and glute dominant so this also helps to incorporate some quad engagement too so I'm not always using one muscle group
@@thevirtualdomestique Thanks for the confirmation. I played around with this strategy in this morning's over under session. I need more time to get used to lower cadence but I could very visibly see and feel the difference on HR throughout the session as I alternated cadences. 👍
Cadence is different for every rider, it's just what comes naturally and feels most efficient, I don't try to change it, it's just what my legs do. It's like when you go for a walk you naturally have a pace that doesn't feel too fast and doesn't feel too slow, it's a sweetspot that feels comfortable but gets you from A - B in the best way possible. Just gotta break a lot of things down in cycling, it's pretty simple when you think about it
@thevirtualdomestique I understand, but the average 70-75 it's very low with high watts. In long term, you going to destroying your knees. Now you not have pain yet, but after 10 years... 🤕
Can you do 5 w/kg for any length of time seated? I ask because it seems you're standing for long stretches, and while that seems to work on Zwift, it absolutely wouldn't work IRL.
5 yes is completely doable seated, and my power durations above 500 will be very similar seated v standing. I usually stand during efforts like these as the initial stand up phase from seated tends to provide more of an instant kick, propelling me forward from the group faster using the draft mechanics. If I can separate myself from the group at a faster rate then I have more chance of hurting the people on the back more and inevitably hoping that one or two of them get caught out and dropped
Very sick race man, I have a question, how you make the gear to appear on screen as 2-9. in my zwift it appears as gear 20 or gear 14. Just wondering if I can change it
I like the way you are in rhythm with the music when you stand and Pedal.
Sick soundtrack. What is the soundtrack? Good race too haha. RideOn.
I want to know too. 💪
Give more 10W just for the music. 😋
Also here for the soundtrack 😂
Legend has it that Scots have 3 lungs and 2 hearts 😆
Nice race. What trainer do you use?
Great video. What's the first song? Iti's not either of the 2 songs listed in the description. Thanks!

My hero.
Nice one. 💪
Music please?
Please also show scoreboard at the end of the race
There’s no scoreboard in TDZ rides
on Tour de Zwift, there is no scoreboard because it's classified as a group ride. it's definitely a race at the front, but not officially.
Congrats! I didn’t realize yow close you were until you came flying by😅
Impressive to say the least 🫡

Your casual pace power is higher than my 1 min PR….i’m so weak! Ha
Why u prefer low cadence? Or you just want to match with the rythim? 😅😁

Crazy how comfortable you are at 500w, do you race on the road?
I ride a lot outside, I don't race though. I don't want to crash and die haha
@ you should give it a go, enter some races, I’m sure you would do well,
How many hours a week on trainer?
Where's your music playlist from?

My Strong Scottish Man!
great win.... took some proper pulls as well/pushed the pace
Pack speed is so high on these events you have to work as hard as you can on the front to establish gaps
do you ride outdoors at all? you've gotta be in a pro team of some sort, surely!
I see a barbell in the background. Can you show your barbell workouts? You mainly do squats? Or also deadlifts?
I could show you! I mainly do back squats, hex bar deadlifts and barbell lunges
@@thevirtualdomestique please do ... your our watt idol 🤣
@@thevirtualdomestique what is your max squat. Or do you train more for very high reps
Wooooow..... Superman !!! 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
How did you train to get to this level of fitness? I’m trying to be like you my boi.
With the help of my coach, and being surrounded by lots of people that push me to my limit!
Insane :D What is your current FTP ?
This was 410 np for 55 minutes and the first half was easy so probably 440-450 at the moment, plus or minus 10 w depends how fresh i am
