The Lincoln Tunnel without a line of cars is a WILD sight...can't be real EDIT: Just looked at the date of March 2020 and it really shows just how massive of an impact COVID had on traffic (the lack there-of)
I remember that horrible accident back in 96 when a stolen car crashed into a truck full of hazardous waist. Big explosion people died, a few of them trapped in the tunnel.
My first time into NYC I caught the Greyhound out of PA. As we entered the busdriver said "Alright ladies and gentlemen, I got good news and bad news for ya. Good news is weve just entered the Lincoln tunnel and will be arriving at Port Authority New York City soon. The bad news is....weve just entered the Lincoln Tunnel and will be arriving and Port Authority New York City soon."
I've lived in New York my whole life and have never been through the Lincoln Tunnel. Or the Queens Midtown Tunnel. Battery Tunnel, yes,. Thousands of times. The Holland Tunnel, ye. A lot. But Lincoln, and Midtown Tunnels, not yet.
I feel like that’s common place anytime you live somewhere, especially with landmarks and destinations. You are more focused on your day to day life so going out of your way for things would be less than ideal
I remember going from Wyckoff to 42nd St..... back in the day, from the NJ side, one could see (on a sunny morning, a gray haze over NYC. By the time you got out of the tunnels, you's enter into down town NY city and the sky would seem to be over cast..... it was pollution.
Well, that was certainly exciting. Especially the part where you slow down the video, I was on the edge of my seat, I thought maybe a deer was going to cross the road.
@@reneekane9912 this is some kind of joke, right? I stared at the damn wall, I stared at the damn tunnel, I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to be seeing
According to the info listed in this video, 112,995 vehicles go through in one day and at a toll of $16.00. That amounts to $1,807,920.00 a day. In one year that amounts to $659,890,800.00. Where does all that money go? And that's a low ball figure because trucks and buses pay even more than $16.00 to go through. Now that they're eliminating the toll booths and don't have to pay toll collectors anymore, what happen to all of that money. For that amount of money the states of N.Y. and N.J. could afford to build more tunnels and bridges. This would relieve a lot of daily traffic congestion.
Yes they go leak and of course preventive maintenance is a key but it’s a regenerating revenue daily and annual revenue exponentially! and leaks can be fixed at exorbitant costs but it’s not like it’s a leak per day if you catch my drift etc… they need to innovate and also expand infrastructure and definitely rehabilitate existing ones… NYC roads are in dyer need of repair…Clearly the population density outweighs the 1950s infrastructure in 2022… I’m also wondering as well Dale….
The Toll is only paid going from NJ into NY. Your Traffic Numbers are BOTH Ways, so your Math isn't valid The Tunnels and the GW Bridge are Expensive to Operate and Maintain. And E-Z Pass Toll is cheaper and also uses a lot of the revenue.
That video of it leaking wasn't water from the Hudson. The tunnel has pipes of water going through the sides for the sprinkler system that cleans the tunnel when it's closed. One of those cleaning pipes burst and caused leaking.
Seeing the Lincoln Tunnel without cars is like seeing the Las Vegas Strip without tourists. Thanks, 2020!
2020 was the best year
Back then everyone used to say was the worst year ever that everyone hated it. Now we're just nostalgic for it
Great filming, felt like I was in the car with you. Thanks for the reminder of when I was there many years ago.

I know actually what he meant by that! 😢
Absolutely spectacular!! I’ve traveled this way many of times and your filming was unbelievable! Thank you for sharing❤
Wow. I would love to see this. Longest tunnel I've been through was in Mobile. Thinking of NYC in the upcoming days. ❤️
We just went through the Lincoln Tunnel a week ago while we were on vacation. It was definitely a highlight of our trip. So interesting!
I was making the trip in the early 1980’s and the toll was $4. Tolls from Morristown plus parking in Manhattan was about $20 a day.
That price is unreal.
I'm sure watching this video is like a nightmare for those that drive it everyday.
Came across your video, watched and subscribed to your channel. Beautiful tunnel!
That thin railroad you see on the side was used for police back in the 50s
Where?
Is it always this empty or is it because of the lockdown?
It was packed before lockdown.
I was going to ask the same, because i'm shook how empty it is 😅
It’s always packed! I’m pretty sure this was during the lockdown
About 120,000 cars pass through it daily
@@JakGruen me too
Wow! How fast did you drive the tunnel?
Thanks for that slo-mo to accentuate the point of crossing from Jersey into New Jack Shitty(sic).
Hey complain about NYC all you want, but 50% of the economy for the hell hole that is NJ comes from this city.
@@faazed2454 New York is more of a shithole than JC!
Is the NY/NJ border the halfway mark of the Hudson river?

Nice view..im here for dropping my suppor..staycon..keepsafe...waiting to visity backyard..godbless
Wtf. Did they close the tunnel especially for you and the guy in front or what? Crazy to see it like this.
It was film while in confinement
I don't miss it! Commuted for years. Was this video during the lock downs?
thank you for sharing, new friend here sending support, keep safe always
Impressive work of engineering, but a little claustrophobic for me. (:
I can still smell the bus 🚌 exhaust!
4:36 "NYC Law: No Turn on Red Unless Posted"..... black SUV immediately breaks that rule 😂
Of course its an SUV driver
Looking at the entering of NYC reminded me of I Am Legend.
We used to take this tunnel back in 2004.

I would think your eyes would hurt exiting the tunnel on a sunny day. You sure can't wear sunglasses in the dark tunnel.
Dark tunnel? It was slightly dark in the video, although the lights were on in it.
Where is this anyway the only 2 coming to my mind is the Lincoln tunnel and holland tunnel
tunnel reminds me of a crusty old crack I entered once
I'm paused at 1:17... *$16* to cross the frickin' Lincoln?!?!?! A few hours to the south, the Fort McHenry Tunnel is longer... and the fare's only $4.
Sorry, this is New York.
@@LookAroundChannel That is indeed obvious; just *WHAT* has been the result of jacking up the prices?
Big city has big cost to run it. The city is facing a $9 billions deficit of annual budget.
Thats way New York is not for every body
I believe 16 bucks is for round trip. No toll going into Jersey? I moved from NY 47 years ago.
Bruh..I know this can't be real cause aint one bit of traffic in damn sight.especially coming off of 495??aint no way.
So this is what Larry and Rita had to walk through in the stand 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨

Cool!!! Sub and Cheers from Germany!
That was pleasant.👍 Now imagine being stuck in traffic, under water, & 2 friends smoking stogies....Oy!
Es cierto que en el tunel lincoln viven personas de mal vivir
Uh, where's the traffic?????
100 yrs old. Guess the powers that be , figure the tunnel will last for ever.

Homeless should be allowed to live in there to shelter from the elements. (Elements means weather and cold and such.)
