@@juanpecan7089 Haha I can appreciate what you say. By chill I kind of meant playing something that isn’t all angst ridden simulation with an unhealthy preoccupation with realism lol.
I've loved it so far. Nice to sit back and just have relaxed fun in a racing environment. Something that's welcomed when I need a break from simulators.
I've been having a blast with this game. You can tell the devs really cared about what they were making. Hopefully they see how much we love it, and make others.
Ahhh, shame to hear they're not real tracks, but just inspired by. I miss the old F1 tracks from the 80's/90's that are no longer on the ticket and the tracks they still use in their old configurations. Was hoping to race Hockenheim through the forest again. Or have to deal with the bus stop at Spa. MPS Formula 1 Grand Prix is the game I'm trying to rediscover.
This game has the just one more run! Vibe to it. There needs to be a middle of the road difficulty added. There is only two modes, basically beginner and pro. I love this game. Pay the money and support this developer.
First i skipped the game while on sale.. then i saw the reviews on the Playstation store and i was amazed. So i checked this video and had to buy the game its on sale! Now I've been playing for hours 😂 pro mode is really challenging, thank you for this review!
I love this game but wish it had wheel support and manual transmissions. Having slipstream as a "perk" that has to be selected is strange too but overall I'd give it 9/10 and easily my favorite game this year. It is comically easy on the default difficulty so if a racing vet play on hard or if not then there's no need to be intimidated if you leave it on normal.
I love this game but I'm not so sure wheel support would be an ideal fit, since it's such a frenetic arcade title. I imagine it would translate as well as trying to play F-Zero or Top Gear 2 with my Simucube. Though who knows. It's a brilliant developer, so maybe it'll be alright.
gonna be honest, I bought this and was excited to play it. The problem is the game has these weird assist when driving that you can't turn off. I've ended up deleting it. The game controls very odd.
The steering can be adjusted, I was just playing the demo and found 6 bars of sensitivity was pretty good. Question to the dev, does the game have an online multiplayer mode? Would be cool to play with friends or even just randoms. Thanks.
It's like a 2024 version of Virtua Racing, much improved. Frankly, so far, only one complaint: I don't really recognize the countries, besides Monaco. Tracks don't have enough elements that make them unique. So, I wish the landscapes were a bit more detailed. Yeah, I know, not the most important thing in a racing game. 😅
I've been looking for a game for my 3 year old. He always wants to drive the sims but obviously can't make it round the track. I'll 100% buy this if it gets wheel support.
Think I’m gonna pick it up, been looking for a nice racing game, to quickly get up and play other than grid on switch, I wanna get into more serious racing but I’m just too busy with other things.
I love the visuals, but unfortunately it's too arcade for me. If it was a little bit more on the realism side i would probably prefer it over an F1 game.
I have already seen this game twice years back in a different formula, both times trying to imitate Virtua Racing (Formula Retro Racing and its World Tour version, and an upcoming game as well called Super Retro GP). I feel like these games are just ellaborate asset flips trying to scam people into playing a retro racing game that is trying to carry the low-poly torch Virtua Racing left. 30 euros is too much for a game like that, but then again, I might be wrong and skeptical.
We've successfully tested it in the office with a G29 using the Logitech software, and have included alternate pitting controls for racing wheels. There's no force-feedback at the moment though.
I wish the career was more arcadey... I dont like managing managers happyness, I want racing. Virtua Racing all I wanted, with a career mode, got nothing.
It is. Great introduction to racing on a small scale. I'm sad that there is no online mp as that's 99% of my racing. Still a little too arcadey but imagine if they worked with kunos a little and developed something bigger
Nice to see a racing game that is career focused. Looks like a fun chill out game. Really needs wheel support with that classic Sega vibe.
its not that chill! at least on pro mode. Computer AI is psychopathic like you're playing friends that hate you.
@@juanpecan7089 Haha I can appreciate what you say. By chill I kind of meant playing something that isn’t all angst ridden simulation with an unhealthy preoccupation with realism lol.
This looks ideal for the steam deck.
I can attest to what she's saying....
New Star GP is brilliant.
This is exactly the kind of arcade racer I've been pining for since F1 Race-Stars.
Big permanent price drop, sounds like it's perfect time to pick it up anytime.
The couch play with a handicap feature is such a blessing. It's very fun to play with inexperienced racing gamers.
It reminds me of my fav arcade racing game 'Ultimate 2d racing' but....3d. Gonna give it a try! Thanks for the rec
I've loved it so far. Nice to sit back and just have relaxed fun in a racing environment. Something that's welcomed when I need a break from simulators.
I actually bought it after seeing it featured on your channel. It's great fun, but I still run back to Circuit Superstars for my arcade fix.
Solid game im just disappointed that it doesn’t have a manual gearbox option
same and wish it had online. THey should do online grand prix and quick races
Thats a shame. I think I have to wait and see if they implement wheel + h-pattern shifter like in the old arcade machines.
I've been having a blast with this game. You can tell the devs really cared about what they were making. Hopefully they see how much we love it, and make others.
@jareds.7328 they have made other games, a retro NFL game and a retro soccer game
Both are really good
this was a fun old school arcade race game. we really need more of those :D
Have you tried Art of Rally?
@@AnthonyCHAPITEAU Plus Slipstream and all the other recent indie arcade racing gems. New Star is easily my favorite.
With this game and art of rally I wish an indie dev would do a multi generation nascar fun to play game like this!!!!!
Who remembers the original New Star GP from same studio released in 2011? :)
Ahhh, shame to hear they're not real tracks, but just inspired by. MPS Formula 1 Grand Prix is the game I'm trying to rediscover.
Appreciate the review!
A larger field of cars i each race and a livery editor/name editor for each and every car/driver. Include those and this game is god damn near perfect
Excellent review as usual, purchase made! Many thanks.
Coms Manager Sue Zooker like as in Suzuka? XD As soon as it gets wheel support count me in. Thx for the Review.

@@AdamsOlympia I would think it would be really tight like Daytona USA but that's a fair opinion for sure.
How well does this run on the Switch?
I've just bought it and it goes ok for switch. No complain
I love this game and I love the Retro Bowl games also!!
gonna be honest, I bought this and was excited to play it. The problem is the game has these weird assist when driving that you can't turn off. I've ended up deleting it. The game controls very odd.
Hi - sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the game. Could you elaborate? I'm not sure what you mean by 'assist' because I didn't add any :)
The steering can be adjusted, I was just playing the demo and found 6 bars of sensitivity was pretty good.
Question to the dev, does the game have an online multiplayer mode? Would be cool to play with friends or even just randoms. Thanks.
Hi my dad is one of the lead developers of new star and he said there will be multiplayer soon just hang in there won’t be long 👍
@@JacobGee-xm1rc Can you get your dad to add wheel support? I would absolutely love to play this game with wheel support with the switch!😀
It seems like a great game. It’s only $14.50 AU atm. Is that right? Is it normally $40+ AU?
Its Steam sale :) -Michel
Such a good game. Things like this and The art of rally really help ease my stress levels after a 45 minute stint in AMS2 or ACC lol
Is there an onboard view option?

Made it work in VR if you are interested, uploaded a tutorial video for it yesterday. Awesome game by the way:)
Thanks for the review… the deciding factor for me to buy 😊
I've been looking for a game for my 3 year old. He always wants to drive the sims but obviously can't make it round the track. I'll 100% buy this if it gets wheel support.
Teach him... kids learn 5x quicker than adults. Put in the time and your 3 year old will be able to drive round nordschleife in a sim no probs.
By the way there is wheel support it is on ps4 only at the moment but my dad said he is gonna add it to all platforms 👍 just hang in there
£1 a go down the pub seems fair.
Virtua Racer? Virtua Racing 😉
It's an interesting idea but sadly a bit too arcady for me.. things like the boost and races being so short really put me off
At the moment it's on sale for €4.99.
Looks funny. Greetings and good morning from Germany!
Think I’m gonna pick it up, been looking for a nice racing game, to quickly get up and play other than grid on switch, I wanna get into more serious racing but I’m just too busy with other things.
Me: Career Mode Her: Cahreaaaar Morde
I'll have to try it once there's a wheel support. Still looking for something better than Sega's Virtua Racing
It’s fun, the steering wheel doesn’t work so good on pit stops.
I love the visuals, but unfortunately it's too arcade for me. If it was a little bit more on the realism side i would probably prefer it over an F1 game.

No TV onboard Cam, No Buy
There actually is.
😂
I would love a game like this in a anime art style
Yeah thats a real fun game.
No wheel support is a big miss .When they sort it out it would make a nice change from the usual.
We've successfully tested it in the office with a G29 using the Logitech software, and have included alternate pitting controls for racing wheels. There's no force-feedback at the moment though.
Good luck with the implemention! -Michel
Hi my dad is one of the lead developers of Nsgp so I’ll ask him to add it to every platform but it apparently works on ps4 so try it out
Too high proce for a single player game
It demands for multiplayer.
Maybe with sells they will add it?
Work harder and earn more money

I wish the career was more arcadey... I dont like managing managers happyness, I want racing. Virtua Racing all I wanted, with a career mode, got nothing.

Why?
Wasnt april fools a week ago ?
Yeah, you have said that already

Sss sss
too much bla bla bla..play more..a gameplay video not a talk 8:56 and show any videos..not good youtube video
i think the game is more of an april fool's joke

It's not, and a lot of people enjoy it. -Michel
Care to elaborate what you mean? The game is awesome
