Over the past few weeks Russia has shown a new ability to conduct dynamic targeting, striking multiple high value and high payoff targets well behind the line of contact. I believe we’re seeing a change in the Russian targeting process that coincides with a reduction in Ukrainian short range air defense munitions.

Completely ignoring the fact that they can produce military grade chips easily domestically (at 18-20nm mind you but in a military application with no space or cooling or cost constraints it doesn't matter unlike in a phone). @@worldoftancraft Anyone that has studied or worked in this field understands that bleeding edge compute power has nowhere near the same level of importance for military applications. There is no need for a lower nm process for simple things like drones. DJI has arguably the best consumer grade drones and most of their cpus are made in China by AllWinner (h6) which is an arm cortex architecture and does everything the drone needs (positioning, render, capture) with varying ranges from 55nm to 28nm.
There's new FABs popping up in China almost daily, taking away some mid tier lithography away from TSMC.
My point is that people that talking about washing machine "chips" don't know the difference between a cpu, a vpu, a microcontroller vs a microprocessor or have any idea that a memory chip in a microwave can't be used for gpu duties in a drone etc. But to the laymen it works for propaganda reason. Even if Forbes wrote extensively that it wasn't based on anything factual.

Russia has been taken to the training ground, where it has beefed up, trimmed off the excess fat, and now stands as a lean, mean killing machine. Russias military is bigger, stronger and more capable. And it has learned how to deal with a lot of Western weapons systems. India which is a Russia Economic Ally (Military is Neutral) is where i like getting my information from Indian media on the Russia / Ukraine conflict as their is no western bias, no propaganda in they reporting content.
They basically show the true numbers, Russia is fighting this war at a distance with Long Range missiles, and medium range while Ukraine is only being given weapons systems meant for close range. Western media like to show Ukraine's successful assaults', but the majority of this wars casualties are via long range projectiles. But they mentioned an important piece to the puzzle. Russia is actually fine tuning AI technology through satellites that can scan an Identify targets, but in order to do so it needs to have a successful hit, once it identifies what a successful object is it makes it easier to scan and track.
I am a US Armey Veteran, but I am not an 11B. My background is Tactical Psyop (37F). So I view the world as "Great, now i need to fact check this information now cause I do not believe you".
So the best way for me to fact check (At least find a baseline) is to find a Publisher that does not have an incentive. Such as the West (Europe & US) has an Incentive to lie, persuade, and influence a narrative outcome, as does Russian Media. India is as close to Unbias as I can find when it comes to this war. Also, they are basically Geographically monitoring this closely.

I will start with the most important change, the Ukrainian forces have moved their AA systems closer to the front in order to disrupt the massive air campaign that Russian air force recently introduced and was key to taking Adiivka, Employing FAB 500 and FAB 1500 can obliterate fortified positions unlike artillery. Basically bunker busters, but they are deployed in multiple ways. Even with thermobaric warheads. Glide bombes using GLONASS for pinpoint accuracy. Similar to JDAM guidance kit. Hence, why several Patriot systems and NASAMS have been taken out with video evidence to prove it...
You're right about the targeting command structure, I have listened to Russian colonels discussing how it used to take them hours from initial spotting to the designated strike system to fire.
Now it's done in minutes. That is a recent change, what is also necessary to understand is the drastically upgraded military surveillance drones in use that are almost invisible to both radar and optical systems, blending in with the sky due to their altitude, small size, all composite exterior and upgraded electronics. Russia has also launched a number of military satellites during the past 2 years. All designated Kosmos nnnn, as in Kosmos 2480 which is a known spy satellite. The new missions launched are classified, but I will give you a hint of a unique asset rivaling the best surveillance assets the US have in LEO, Kosmos 2572.

At start of war Russia had Orlan 10 artillery drones designed for long loitering time and for helping increasing precision of artillery fire. Further improvement during war was adding lasers for high precision laser-guided shells and even carrying rocket projectile. Such drone flies relatively high, out of range of machine guns and are probably difficult to distinguish from more plentiful loitering ammunition, which are too costly to be targeted by medium range AA rockets. In same time, Russia got larger number of MLRSes with improved range and precision, comparable to Himars, and gliding bombs became ubiquitous, with range 50km+ from release point. Finally, Russia has plentiful of domestically produced AA systems while Ukrainian supplies are limitted.

I watched the interview with some Ukrainian soldier and he said that it is almost meaningless to spend expensive AA missiles for such drones because Russia have thousands of them and if Ukraine shoot down one drone, Russia immediately launches another one. Ukraine just don't have so many AA missiles and cant waste them for small drones. Also all Ukrainian radars are turned off most of the time, they turn them on only for short periods when they are preparing to repel Russian strike. If radar is active too long, there is a high chances to get hit by Russian anti radar missile.

What has changed is the truth finally coming out in the open. In the beginning of the conflict, Russian forces left Kiev as a condition of the Istanbul draft agreement as a sigh of good faith and the supposed gains made by ukraine in late summer (I think that was the timing, but I might be off there) was not necessarily that ukraine's armed forces were far superior, but you have to remember that Kiev started this conflict with 650-750,000 soldiers, whereas because Russia went in to assist the Donbas regions, under Russian law, could only do this under what is called a SMO (Special Military Operation) and that restricts Russia to only having 250,000 soldiers in the conflict. This, of course, does not include the Luhansk and Donetsk Republics' forces because these are not Russian forces. So the Donbas/Russian forces were severely outnumbered from the start and when that region got tough for Russia to hold such a large piece of land, the decision was made to pull out of the areas, and when they did, Ukrainian forces moved in claiming they won back the territory which is not reality. The ukraine conflict from the Russians side is since the beginning until up until maybe just before Avdiivka, a war of attrition. In these 2 years, the one thing the Russians wanted to do was not to loose any territory that they had behind the massive 3-layer defense lines they had built up. But the most important job of the Russian military was to destroy as much of the enemy soldiers and their equipment as possible. The reason Bakhmut took so long was because they kept drawing in the Ukrainian soldiers just for them and their artillery pieces to die there. Day after day, week after week, with Ukrainian deaths and major injuries at 7-10:1 to Russian soldiers, all the while Kiev is lying to their own people as they leave dead bodies just laying on the ground. Pretty damn gruesome, it's one reason I hate war, but I also hate governments that boldly lie to their people about the reality on the ground. I'm an American and at 61, I have lived long enough to see my country lie about many things, most which are excuses for them to meddle in other country's business were their proxies kill thousands of innocents. My country lied to enter the Vietnam War and 58,000 of our people died there and we ran home after getting our arses kicked by the communist North Vietnamese. Independent news reporter and bloggers were reporting these things I am saying from the start of the conflict, but the U.S. and Western media outlets censored news so only some individuals reporting on the internet got the truth out. And journalists who reported the truth are still on kill list put out by Kiev's intelligence service, a few, including Lira Gonzalo were assassinated by Kiev. I hope the truth continue to get out in even more mainstream media because this war needs to end, yet zelensky passed a law that restricts him from negotiating an end. Very sad.

Key advantage would be ability to quickly pass all critical information about potential high value targets from all drone operators up the chain of commands. This includes infantry FPV drone operators. Once alerted, artillery targeting drones working on battalion level should detect and track target, passing info battalion operation xentre and area military command. If necessary, more powerful artillery or air force asset should be allocated to handle target, which is followed in real time by artillery targeting drone. If organized well, artillery strike can follow within half an hour to any target 50km from front line. Only cost effective countermeasure could be short-range AA system, but is not easy to have them in suffocient quantity since range is about 10km, supply is limitted and they are priority target for artillery.

Back to the helicopter being hit, I’m about 90% positive the munitions that hit the helicopters was a LMUR, that missile has only been known to be fired from helicopters and its maximum range is 14.5 km. The LMUR when fired from a higher speed, higher altitude aircraft will have much greater range than 14.5km.
