      Am I the only person who threw just fine first time and every time? I've never had any of these problems. I mean the object has a set plasticity that will only support a set rate of speed, if you exceed the plastic deformation of that set rate you're going to get catastrophic failure. I was a kid when I started but my subconscious mind knew this and I've never had a wibbly wobbly catastrophe like everyone makes out is normal. Am I the freak, or are you guys?

      Very true, though I did make my mom a clay "mask-face" of one of our mutual favorite sci-fi characters. He's a Klingon (Yes, I'm a Trek nerd), so making the face super-realistic was not gonna have to be the goal. I've seen caricatures of people's faces in clay sell for serious money here and there. Just because not everyone thinks things have to be super perfect. They like the "modern art" twist on things, so I wasn't too worried. It looked enough like the character I wanted to do, and the art teacher had the coolest glaze for the mask. I was a junior in HS at the time, so yeah, there's a lot to learn (or go back to, if life has forced a hiatus on your learning). But it's okay to make things you're not head over heels for, whether it be in pottery, writing, music or whatever you like.
      And it took me a good many years to learn this. 😜😅

    A video on your experience with the Brent clay extruder would be great. Your initial installation and "how it works" video were nice, but I'm sure you've developed some tricks and tips (like leaving the clay in a bag?!?!?!?!) that would be interesting to people who might be looking at buying a new extruder (like me!!).

    • @bashkillszombies
      @bashkillszombies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      A cup amount of clay and a bit more. So whatever you want your end product to be, go a little over. An easy way to measure this is displacement. Get a coffee mug you like the size of and submerge it in 1L of water, see how the water went up? That's the displacement of that mug. Work from there, measure the displacement of your clay (in a plastic bag don't get it wet) and you have a number in your head for all mugs going forward the rest of your life.

    I love your normal content but I like this too. I have trouble sleeping and this is so relaxing it helped me sleep. In a good way. This isnt boring, just relaxing. In fact I have a hard time calming my thoughts so boring things dont help me, i just get distracted in my own head. This was so nice.

    I don’t just want your pottery, I NEED it! I saw on Etsy that it’s very hard to get but I am waiting for the new release in March! I’m so excited because your pottery is beautiful. I’m so picky about my mugs and only like to drink out of gorgeous works of art. I hope you will consider producing more to fill the demands!

    • @YuliaLinderoth
      @YuliaLinderoth 4 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@atelier-wolk Yeah, but these are very specific pigments that are expensive and some are toxic in high quantities. I suggest buying two colored clays (a white and a red/black one) of the same cone and chamotte percentage and starting out with them.

      @@YuliaLinderoth You calculate the cost of the pigments in the sales price. Sure, if you use cobalt oxide (blue), it will be a little more expensive, but you don't need much of it. And after the firing, it is no longer toxic. Only if you work with lead glazes. But this is no longer allowed for food ware.

    • @valentinmitterbauer4196
      @valentinmitterbauer4196 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ASMR means Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and describes the feeling of listening to something and getting a prickling skin or goose bumbs or something like that because of it, an extreme case would be something like chalk screeching over a blackboard, for example.
      There are many sometimes very weird ASMR videos on the internet, but in the case of this video here it just means "unedited live sound without music or narration". It's a little strange, i know.

    I had a ceramics teacher tell me that her professor in school, took her first, I swear she said 100, but that feels like an excessive amount, things she threw on a potters wheel, and tossed them back bbn in the bin. I remember the look on her face when she told the class how she reacted. She said that she learned a lot from that, but tbh, I'm not sure what that was. I just remember thinking, try not to take it so hard if you cant get what u see in ur head in clay. Be patient it will come, but I watch these artist make things on a potter wheel and wonder if they went through something similar, and also how hard I think it would be to throw ANYONE'S stuff out!
