I don't know if it would look good on the specific couch but I have recently seen someone do it really well and it brought more perspective to the scenery haha I hope my english is well enough to convey the image in my mind.

To save money on furniture try a thrift store I don’t know if there’s a goodwill or savers or Salvation Army but I know we have those and they have plenty of good things for furniture and never a lot of money

You can use white or off white paint and distress the coffee table so it's not solid gray. It would match the area rug you have too!
