Kauai is one of my favorite islands, but sadly, it's my least visited. It's not for a lack of trying though. On several trips recently I've had flights to LIH booked, only to have them be canceled or delayed and I then couldn't take them. That said, I was there just about a week ago, and I did fly to LIH and back on that trip. So those video are coming up.
And this was the "off season" for Hawaii. Things were really dry and... well... brown haha. And it still is stunning haha. Thanks for watching my friend!
Nope...even after all these months, I still can't tell exactly when the wheels actually touch down...lol. So much butter on that flight. The sights and sounds weren't too shabby, either.
It was a super smooth landing. In fact, I almost went with that for the title, but ultimately, who can ignore Maui's beauty? As always, thanks for watching my friend!
I mean, it’s quite a lot different than any other Boeing aircraft and that makes sense. It’s a Boeing aircraft by name only. It was developed, designed, and originally built by McDonnell Douglas as the MD-95. So it’s really like flying an MD-90 more than any Boeing product. But Boeing bought the program right when it was entering service back in the 90’s, so they get to call it what they want haha.
Great fly! Have you heard airfare prices will be more expensive in 5 years as more people travel for Thanksgiving or Christmas? The average airfare price for Thanksgiving is $350 while an international round trip is $795. An increase of 22% compared to 2019 before the COVID pandemic. For Christmas round trip, the airfare price average is $463 which is the third more expensive than in 2019 while the international trip is $1,300, up from 26%. Source: CNBC "Holiday airfare will be most expensive in 5 years as pandemic fears wane".
Well, generally that’s what happens over time. Prices increase, so that’s not too surprising. I typically try to avoid flying around Thanksgiving and Christmas either way though haha.
My favorite of the islands is Hawaii Island, aka The Big Island. It’s so unique and has so many different ecosystems present on one island. Plus it’s a lot less commercialized than Oahu and Maui. My kind of place.
Let me know when you fly Alaska Air from Seattle to Anchorage, AK because I want to take my wife on a vacation from JAX to DFW on American Airlines then switch airline carriers to Alaska Air to continue to SEA then to ANC then we rent a car to Fairbanks then return back to ANC. We plan to return to JAX about 5 days later.
Well I’ve flown Alaska Airlines between Seattle and Anchorage several times, but not directly. I’m usually flying that route on their famous milk run that stops in several cities up the coast of Alaska before ending in Seattle. That said, your trip sounds excellent. If you’re wanting a video to see what the flight from SEA-ANC would be like, you could use this one: th-cam.com/video/gQtZYp1kiaI/w-d-xo.html It’s Seattle directly to Fairbanks, but it’d be the same type of plane and everything else.
Typical landing on Maui, nothing stunning here just routine. This was recorded from the second worst row in the aircraft, row 26. Next to the engine, very loud with the winding sound of the jet turbines. The last row, 27 is worse because it has no window.
A few things my friend… First, just because it’s a “typical” landing doesn’t mean the views and experience provided aren’t stunning. It’s Maui we’re talking about. A tropical paradise…. There are few places on Earth with more visually stunning approaches. So, I disagree 100% that the views presented here aren’t stunning, which is what I’m referring too. If you watch this and just blow past that completely, I feel bad for you. I’ve landed in Maui dozens of times now and I still find it stunning every time. And second…. Everything else you said in your comment is wrong. Now, some of it could be opinion based and you’re certainly entitled to that, but the actual info presented is wrong. This was filmed from row 24, not 26, which is clearly explained in detail in the description. And row 24 is widely accepted as the best row for those of us who are aviation enthusiasts. You know, some of us think the louder the better for where we sit. Being able to be so close to the engine, and being able to hear the turbine so clearly makes it the best seat possible. Now again, that is opinion and you don’t have to like it, but it’s not the seat you suggest it is, and that info was easily available. And I’ll add one more thing. On top of this landing providing stunning views, which is what I was referring to, this was also an incredibly smooth landing. You can’t even hear the main gear touch down…. And no, that’s no because the engine was so loud. Power had been cut to idle at that point. This was an amazing show by the pilots, which in its own right, makes this a great landing. You don’t have to like the video my friend, and you don’t have to think it’s stunning, but I’m sorry for you if you see the views presented here and that’s all the comes to your mind. Thanks for watching.

Love the partial engine/wing view! Great landing footage!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!
How does this compare with other Boeing planes? Great video btw!

Maui is amazing! Just a beautiful approach. And that landing was pure butter!
