Praticamente invecchiando Tadzio in questo film dopo 50 anni ha voluto dire che è diventato Aschenbach perchè in realtà simbolicamente sia nel film che nel romanzo sono la stessa persona in due stagioni opposte della vita che alla fine si compensano e si completano solo con la morte...
Le misteriose "forze dominanti" dei sottotitoli sarebbero più concretamente le case di produzione cinematografica, che infatti Bjorn chiama "major". E il problema che lui pone è proprio urgente
