Dear All They are telling me (in the workshop) that if they cut the plate length based on the mean radius, there will be some extra length after rolling. Is there a formula or a reference to estimate that? I want to know how to calculate exact length of a plate before rolling to a specified diameter. Does it depend on the material being rolled? (say Carbon steel or Stainless steel) Does it depend on the thickness of the plate? How about the rolling equipment or even the operator of that equipment(the technique)? Warm Regards
When they rolled the plate round they let it flop down under its own weight deforming it's shape. Surely they should have the crane on it to stop that.
