I enjoyed to watch your video in Georgetown Guyana, I work with 4 Guyanese guys from berbies, I'm white guy hungarian among those guys they call me white boy, they say one day I should go with them to visit Guyana, I will be looking forward to that. Thanks for the great video. I will be practicing my Guyanese slang. All the best.

@@jamaul1391 There are other places in the world below sea level and the water is drained. Your key word is "Instantly". What about using more and bigger pumps instead of depending on gravity. and depending on the low tide. Let the engineers put their brain to work.

Hello Denny hope all is well. Another lovely video of GT even though it’s raining. I must say Georgetown really needs serious investment. Old buildings can do with a face lift and the drainage is poor too. You are right about Guyanese dumping and littering the place which contributes to the blockage of the drainage system. Not a very nice for tourists. Council Please invest in infrastructure and clean up Georgetown. One other thing..the Government should protect Guyanese local businesses and my opinion to stop Chinese doing the same business as locals. Take care from UK.

It's the season, nothing strange about it. Sometimes it rains all week, either heavy or we called it fine rain. I'm from the West Coast of Demerara. It was fun when the ponds were full, if you knew to swim or not. It was so much fun. In those days the drainage were wonderful. Because when the water in the Atlantic ocean goes out all of the sluces are operating to let the water out. Hope Gaffure opens the slice he has blocked something ago. We need the water especially now, that you have to pay for it. blocked

Dutch hydraulic engineering companies can help Guyana/(Georgetown) off the low coastal strip in the north of Guyana.
The Netherlands is a country below sea level, but the Dutch hydraulic engineering companies, together with the government, have helped over the centuries to prevent the Netherlands from being flooded by seawater from the North Sea, rainwater and water from the rivers.
They have built sea dykes, reclaimed the entire country, sluices with doors that can open and close, pumping stations, canals, snaffle bits, water basins to lead water to and the land remains dry in the cities.
The Guyanese Government must contact the Netherlands hydraulic engineering companies to build this in Guyana as well. The Dutch are the best hydraulic engineering companies in the whole world and are famous for keeping low-lying lands from being flooded.

What is beautiful about Georgetown, Guyana? A little rainfall and the city is flooded, all over, even though the prime minister office is right in the middle of the city. Couldn’t the government use 5% of the money that the government withheld from the oil money fund to fix the drainage problems instead of spending it all on something else. These politicians are all incompetent. We are tired of them.

Hi Denny, it is a bit scary to watch. We have to do like the ants prepare . When it's sunny we need to clean our clogged drains . Be on the City Council back to clean the canals. Be our neighbors keepers. Think before we toss our garbage on the streets , it will end up in the drains and canals. More business places need to provide garbage cans or drums , Restaurants and food vendors especially should provide a garbage disposal for customers.

We were fortunate in NYC (five boroughs) to have missed the great snowfall which plastered Upstate New York and its border towns/cities. Folks are still digging out in some places where they got up to 8 feet of snow.
No rain here, however everyone is running around getting their last minute supplies for Thanksgiving 2022 on Thursday so you can just imagine our roadways, airports, busses and trains with folks traveling to relatives homes for the great occasion.

@@terrancethomas9792 Indians were terrorized out of Guyana....
From 1980 until mid-1985, organized gangs of Afro-Guyanese terrorized Indo-Guyanese communities. The groups' trademark method of entry earned them the sobriquet kick-down-the-door gangs. The gangs were fully armed and used military tactics and techniques. Gang crimes against the Indo-Guyanese included robbery/murder and gang rape including young children
Police response to the gangs caused a civic outcry. The mostly Afro police force routinely arrived at victims' homes hours after a crime had occurred, even if notified when the crime was in progress. The half-hearted police response encouraged the growth of the gangs, which became so bold that they began to undertake daylight operations. Fear so paralyzed Indo-Guyanese communities that women in rural areas congregated most of the day by public roads, seeking safety in numbers.
Many analysts believed that the PNC sponsored, or at least tolerated, the kick-down-the-door gangs. Despite stringent gun control laws, gang members carried automatic weapons. One observer called the gangs "policemen by day and bandits by night." The gangs used tactics the PNC had employed against opposition parties, only on a larger scale and with even greater brutality. Around 1980..the PNC funded and armed House of Israel, a Black supremacists group joined the gangs on their attack on Indo household.
      Data as of January 1992

What is the government doing to fix the road, streets and avenues. It needs lots of drainage

What is the government really doing about it? I was in Georgetown in January 1997 and the place flooded while I was there. Whose responsibility is it to fix this? They should use some of the OIL money to fix the drainage system and the sea wall. That should be a priority. They also need to hire a good sanitation staff to keep the city clean and the grass cut. It is sad that some people don't know the meaning of cleanliness. They walk through the filth and it is normal for them.

Yea the garbage on the streets is certainly not good, almost at a point where it will be a health concern to the people.

This Georgetown looks awful, when I lived there in the early 1960’s , when the British run the country the streets were beautiful, I was a young child in the early sixties. Right now it looks like a dump.
