Brian Brian Y’all are asking her uncle (unverified, but let’s just assume) for dirt/personal info about a family member. Greedy and self indulgent. There’s something so sneaky and cowardly about that.
@@simgrmehmej8075 I wasn't asking for dirt, no shame in being schizoaffective. I admit asking that q wasn't my most sensitive move, but I'm just a fan who drank too much wine and typed the first thing that popped into my head. Ain't no thang.

Nothing boring about this, its absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. What a captivating and interesting performer. What a privilege to be enjoying this five years later.
I've heard all these songs, thousands of times, every version I could get my grubby hands on. I will never ever ever tire of any one of those songs. Each version a gift. This set is a fave. LOVE it. She is absolutely amazing. Blows my mind everytime. EVERY TIME. Not too many artists do that for me. She's wow...just wow. I'm in a grateful eternal state of awe for this woman. This lady has helped me through some shit. Lol 🙊❤🙈
This is amazing. Aldous seems like the living embodiment of a beautiful ghost who wanders the grounds of an English Manor House, playing music while the residents sleep
Well put mate, the Haunting Chorus singers in Stop the Tears, invoke something Foreboding yet celestial, can't quite describe it,but it stops me every time.
I am on another voyage of backwards discovery and Aldous Harding does not fail to impress. She seems somewhat more relaxed in talking at this time. Thanks for the post 13th! 😎
Wow! After stumbling across 'Stop Your Tears' on TH-cam, I took a punt on the CD, and it's simply beautiful (altho' it's a bit frustrating that the package doesn't include the lyrics). There's such an extraordinarily pure beauty to her voice, and the construction and enigmatic content of the songs belie her tender years ... I just hope she can sustain the quality of this gorgeous debut. And the commitment and passion in the three live songs here are just breathtaking - from this 72-year-old songwriter (new CD just out!) to another just beginning her journey, I wish you well, Aldous - you truly have a rare magic.
Aldous is a phenomenal talent. Whenever I need to relax I listen to her music. That voice is truly haunting. It sounds so ancient and hurt. Aldous is beautiful in every way. Thanks for this video, this channel is incredible! :)
She has a rare & unique style & only 23yrs old here, a powerful beautiful mature vocal sense, her mother was a great folk singer she said in another interview, gorgeous girl also...
i just discovered her today. the simplicity of her guitar, like the backbone of the song. the variations of her voice, the mood she is creating carrying you to understand the picture she is drawing with just her voice and a guitar. it's effortlessly understandable. truly amazing.
The chit chat before/ in-between songs is priceless. Ya gotta hear this interview all the way through, at least once. It's a wonderful peek into the golden heart of Aldous. But, here's the track list for the repeat visitors. Ok, I'll admit. I did it for me.😁 I am that repeat offender. 🤭😘 TRACKS: 1) 4:07 Stop Your Tears 2) 11:55 Small Bones Of Courage 3) 19:44 Beast
Her earlier work seems/sounds to me, like a medieval time period past life, coming through. Just the vibe I get. I can never shake the visuals that come when I listen: knights, horses, swords, castles, and the like
revisiting this - having been listening a lot to the new album, and I can see what you mean, I don't exactly see knights etc but it is sort of mediaeval - old something, a hint of magic, timelessness
I don't think anyone will agree with this because I am expected to think of a female performer, but she actually reminds me of a British invasion troubadour along the lines of a Greg Lake, David Gilmour, Robert Plant, Bowie, Robert Fripp, etc. She just has this wild lyrical, unpredictable, faraway, poetic, but powerfully deeply melodic essence.
I agree . Interesting you’d mention David Gilmour because I was thinking I’d love to hear her cover Grantchester Meadows . I think Fripp would very much like to work with her . Have you heard her sing Kate Bush’ ‘Wuthering Heights’ ? Worth a listen on YT . Also , there’s a video here of her at what looks like a county fair several years ago singing Edith Piaf’s ‘Non , Je ne Regrette Rien’ . Oops , those are both female voices . But I think you’re right . Well , Piaf was fairly troubadour-ish .
I like this interview, not boring, at all , best thing Aldous got when she a child was a guitar, love the way her voice can change , from song to song. It's hard not to like the artist that she is, and many people love her music , and herself for her creativity.
Aldous is remarkable, seemingly totally immersed in her performance in a way that reminds me of Aurora. I wonder what is going through her mind at 14:23 ...!
this is my favorite thing ive seen. aldous.. cant wait for you in america. pls play the casbah if you can none better, i will provide hummus and vegatables and pot and whatever else before you go on
Beautiful, Aldous. Shades of Sandy Denny from her Fairport Convention days. If you haven’t already, have a listen to ‘Who knows where the time goes’. Your voice hints at greater things and longevity in this game. Keep at it . I feel the success will continue. All the best for a big future.
@14:25 This is an early hint at the Aldous in her later videos - not taking it so seriously as the music would suggest. See _The Barrel_ for an example: th-cam.com/video/QyZeJr5ppm8/w-d-xo.html
I thought the same . Someone many years from now , while looking back at how she developed musically will (if they don’t miss it) be like , “there it is!” Though I’m not sure what they’ll make of her official video of ‘Blend’ , which I love , dancing like a very talented pole dancer dressed up like a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader - compared to the live versions ? Then comparing this to her work now ? Can’t wait to follow her in the years to come .
Good stuff, it feels very rooted in the English revisionist folk music of the 60's & 70's. It'd be interesting to know her influences, or maybe it's just what came out; people say the Kiwis are more English than the English.....
In some places yes,she grew up in lyttleton on the east coast of the South Island,a french colonial town,it has to come from her mother and her musical influences,Myf Warhurst gave her a massive review today, said it was easily the best live show she had seen in years. I only heard about her today, and i'm a Kiwi,in saying that,i live in Perth Australia.
This is a better interview she seems alot more comfortable. It's a shame artists who get to this level always have to be walking the fine line of sanity yay for alcohol !!!
I had the same thought. I saw her later interviews first and was intrigued by just how weird she was in the interviews. I even thought maybe she was on the autism spectrum with detached way she answered questions. Funny to see how normal she is here. Either way, she's amazing.
We can really only guess, but from my limited experience a little bit of fame can go a long way toward messing you up, and she got quite a bit of fame quite suddenly. I'm there were other factors involved...
Oh come on guys give him a break, he’s being totally nice and graciously offering her exposure, which if I was 23 and starting out, no matter how talented, I would be super thankful for.
