I am American and i went to Inverness, Scotland on a vacation with my family. My girlfriend and I went out late night and wanted to see the nightlife and meet some locals. We went to a pub and they played this song. It was the first time i had ever heard it and I loved it. Everybody at the bar was singing it! I relive this moment (in my head) every time i hear the song. One of the best memories in my entire life. Beautiful song!

This was the song l sang to my husband the day hospice came to take him we held hands crying the whole time that memory will always be me he said remember those last words died less than 24hrs later. I really can't wait to see those eyes again

The lyrics pull at my heart strings. The melody is and musical arrangement are complimentary and Gary's voice makes me feel to hug him tightly.

This will never get old. One tree hill introduced me to a few of their songs, Not only was it a phenomenal show, I have never watched a show with such amazing music taste. The music alone was it's own character.

I agree that One Tree Hill's music was great. The show however stopped being good after the Lucas/Payton story line ended. Also, he should have chosen Lindsay.

i first heard this song on an underground college radio station in 2003. i'll never forget the feelings it evoked: mysterious, lonely, hopeful, and death. it still gives me chills. i believe 'final straw' was one of the last tangible CDs i purchased in a store.

Just come back from acoustic Snow Patrol concert in Auckland NZ. - The acoustic version of this was so powerful and Gary was brilliant at singing it as always.
