- "One of the things that strikes me about exclusion and inclusion is that Aboriginal people have been around for over 60,000 years on their land and yet they are excluded from society that is here now."
Frank is CEO of Secretariat of Aboriginal and islander Child Care (SNAICC) and has a background in Community Development work, politics and sociology. He holds a Diploma of Youth Work, a BA with majors in Politics and Sociology, a Master of Social Science (Policy and Management) and a Master in training and Development. He is currently studying at RMIT (Melbourne) for his Doctor of Philosophy focusing on the processes related to 'Closing the Gap' in the Northern Territory (NT).
Frank has started his working life as a Youth Worker in community development in the early 1970s and has continued in the social and community services sector as a manager, policy bureaucrat, sector based trainer and consultant - always with a focus on social justice and human rights. His work has been primarily in the youth and psychiatric disability support sectors, with people confronted by the issues that arise from poverty and exclusion, including homelessness, alcohol and other drugs and the law.
Over the last decade Frank has been co-ordinator of ANTar Victoria, the CEO of Reconciliation Victoria and more recently, the CEO of SNAICC. Frank has also chaired or participated in several governance boards and currently contributed to a variety of working groups and advisory committees examining issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
