dope hahaaaaa im 40 now ... ur making me remember what it musta been like when I was growing up with my parents. (not saying that is your case, its just triggering memories) omg, i must have tortured my parents. I was SO loud. there was no way to control me. not even in the slightest. im wild. its just part of some of us. Ur lucky & blessed to learn a real instrument. I can tell u've learned traditionally. thats awesome. Keep it up. Do it for yourself. at least split it up > me & what I do for others that pleases them. Its good you have ableton. If I would have learned arranging earlier, I would have 10 years of time added to my life. I personally learned it from a friend. We got hired to do some remixes for KCRW & had to turn in 2 songs for radio. We made 4 and picked 2. Before that event> I could make loops that sounded cool. I could make a 3-5 minute song sure, but they weren't exactly good enough yet + they took a long time AND looking back, i gotta b honest and say that it was a hit and a miss IF I could turn a musical idea into a full song. THAT all changed when my buddy and I sat down to make those songs. You see, HE had been practicing making songs with sh!tty sounds. EYE had been practicing making cool sounds. I studied a lot about sound design & effects, how to use the computer. whereas he had one of those dope ass "workstation" keyboards. it was a motif to be precise. expensive af, but the reality was he plunked away at that thing long enough and in a NON-LOOPing fashion that he had formulaic way of starting from nothing and getting to a full song. that was one of the turning points in my life. SO, yeah, learning arrangement was critical for me to evolve into a working class musician. After that I could reliably write songs :) i have no clue if u can learn that from YT videos... I can't un-install my brain and see what was missing, and see if it is available online, lol ... I think the reality that many musicians miss is just how efficient one on one lessons are. (i guess this is more for people who want to become musicians. not necessarily for you, but i'm saying it anyways) They think they can just watch online video's and get there, and I'm not saying that isn't possible... im just saying, life changing things happen when people learn from people. You could learn in less than 1 hour what would take you 10 years of your own effort... and that is simply because, we can't know what we don't know nor what we need to know... ya know ... i wish you the best !!
