- The Bass Rock, or simply the Bass[5] ( /bæs/), (Scottish Gaelic: Creag nam Bathais or Scottish Gaelic: Am Bas) is an island in the outer part of the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland. Approximately 2 km (1 mi) offshore, and 5 km (3 mi) north-east of North Berwick, it is a steep-sided volcanic plug, 107 m (351 ft) at its highest point, and is home to a large colony of gannets. The rock is uninhabited, but historically has been settled by an early Christian hermit, and later was the site of an important castle, which after the Commonwealth period was used as a prison. The island belongs to Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple, whose family acquired it in 1706, and before to the Lauder family for almost six centuries. The Bass Rock Lighthouse was constructed on the rock in 1902, and the remains of an ancient chapel survive.
Looks like the sea and the sky just merged. It's just surreal to say the least. Guess you're great at making magic through your video. It's just beyond expression.
i think your my biggest fan... and thank you
Pleasure's mine. You make videos that stand out from the rest. I've surfed the internet a lot but there's none like yours. I don't know why though. Everything you do is always different than the rest. I guess you have the uncanny ability to create something real special and unique. It's so very hard to articulate the beauty and the impact it has on psyche of the human mind. Maybe it's pretty ordinary from your point of view but it's always something special from my point of view.
Your very kind and means alot i thank you@@thomaswalker8790

@@jaybee2786 my brother in law wants to do the bass rock we were just chatting about it at the weekend when we were out sailing
I flew from dry land its a 1 mile flight out to the bass rock
@jaybee2786 were you flying from near tantallon John was your signal good the whole way?
@jimthorleydronefootage etchy at the back side of it just gave it more height
Absolutely brilliant JB , thanks for sharing mate, loved the flight out there and then the views once there with the little light house too! Music was perfect aswell! Nicely done mate, enjoyed that 👌👍👍
thank you
Epic work 🎞️🎥🎬🎶👌🏻😎
Thank you

Wow JB this is freckin awsome m8
Thank you
Great video.
thank you
Thats amazing to fly out to John. Are all those white lumps on the rock surface gannets as well as those flying?
yeah they are !!!!! but due to bird flu the Gannets where decimated !!!!!! The Bass Rock was home to over 150000 gannets at the peak of the season making it the world's largest colony of Northern gannets.
@@jaybee2786 That really is bloody amazing!!!

@starshipwonaprize-dronevideos originally there was 150,000 gannet colony but bird flu killed off aprox 60%
@jaybee2786 I suppose in such an enclosed area the decimation was always gonna be high
Nice one matey! Your batteries are better than mine I barely made it there and back and that was it almost dead where as you were right round the back of the rock! Awesome video 😁
I used the mavic 3 to get there what did you use mini 4 pro
@jaybee2786 aw great! I only have the mini 2 se
@sneakysweeno bloody hell no wonder you just made it back lol my mavic 3 only used 20% to get there and back
I would not recommend you to do it again using a mini 2 se it's at its max range and if flying back into a wind you wouldn't make it back!!!! You where lucky
It’s braw out there dude. I flew out there got half way out and the heavens opened up and had to bring my baby back I was gutted
its a wee trek lol i kept a safe distance from the gannets hence why the rock is out of view as i knew how far from them so not to bother them !!!!!
Could you please tell me when this was shot
It's near North Berwick scotland right next to tantallon castle
@@jaybee2786 date of the shoot please
Amazing that. Could I ask what music that is please?
Today
Gladiator
I sent it out in sports mode but soften the controls to the same sensitivities as normal mode , hence why it looks as if it takes no time to make it to the island
