One of my many great times grandfathers was a reverand imprisoned here for being a Covenanter. I have chills watching this video. I appreciate being able to see it.
Benn on the bass many times over the years, with Fred Marr. Only time I have been on when no gannets was delivering Xmas mail to the keepers, a long time ago. Have pictures of the Marr daughter's birthday party, when she was 15. Oh, to be young again.
Hello, I used to live in Dunbar, so I appreciate this, it is usually hassle to get on there with the tides, cudos. North Berwick I think was the nearest point to the rock I think.
Fantastic Alan, how eerie without the Gannets? I got the pictures by the way, but forgot to reply - been away 50th an all that, I know it seems a long time ago for you, but it's all new to me, ha ha.
+GBPaddling it is weird without the gannets , they were just arriving as this was filmed, its now pretty well populated . 50 ...I'm no 50 .....ha ha I wish but I get younger with years now !
8yrs on and this still helps me sleep ❤🙏
GREAT FILM ALAN. FIRST TIME IVE SEEN THE BASS ROCK UP AS CLOSE. THANKS

I've always had a fascination with lighthouse living and remote islands, brilliant video mate
I loved my visits to the Bass. The fun of cleaning guano from the solar panels.

I’d love to hike on this grand Bass Rock💙💙💙💙🏴
the most populated island for gannets I believe, found that out 2 weeks ago at the seabird centre which was a marvel

This is an outstanding video👌 by far the best video I’ve seen of the Bass Rock well done 👍
Great video and pix, very nice put together.
Wheree are all the birds? The last time I sailed round the Bass Rock there wer thousands of gannets, cormorants, puffins, etc.
We were at North Berwick 7 years ago, drove past this rock not knowing what the white stuff was lol
I have a beautiful painting off Bass Rock in my living room .
Thx Alan.
I'm going to Tantallon Castle this summer.

I like the island but........ Where are on earth the gannets
Weird without the birds, very weird

Amazing. How did you even film this?
Cracking video!! Mind if I share?
Where have the birds gone? Who cleaned all the shite especially for this video?
is the fog horn still in use
We Should Slap That Bass Rock
Home to over 180000 gannets, well that's a lot fish. You can't walk on the Bass Rock, all that bird shit.
What no bird shit falling from the sky. Cant be Allan Hunter at the Bass must be an imposter.
I was shit on a lot at the Bass, not always by seabirds though.
