    Hey Jake, José from TC here, fantastic review! Both outputs are balanced and designed to drive long cables, so while a TRS-XLR may be needed (as you indicate), the DI box is already built in the pedal 😉

      Hey José, nice to hear from you and congratulations on these new high gain pedals! I love them. I totally get it, trying to convince sound engineers at gigs that they don’t need another DI box because it’s built in is something I’ve struggled with in the past! But it’s an issue with their understanding, not the pedals features. I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😊

      Shame there’s no fx loop then as I’d use delay after the drive. If there was a loop I could put the delay in the loop and run direct for FOH

      @@JakeLeighGuitar would you still need to use a cabinet simulator like the iridium along with it?

    I just found this older video as I'm trying to find an amp emulator for local gigs that require low or no stage volume. I'm a huge fan of all of those people you mentioned at the start. I saw Blue Murder and John was using a Mesa boogie head of memory serves me. His tone was sooooo damn good. He has a killer Floyd like vibrato with that old LP custom.
    I think from using good headphones here on YT this thing sounds like a good 800 to me. Really good! ❤

    I've been wanting to hear this pedal, and I love the idea.. I agree, they should say more about how high gain it is..
    I just searched for ampworx TC electronic demo's and you popped up.. Very cool video sir and I subscribed..
    Thanks so much.. I'll check out your other ampworx pedal demo's as well and I'll be using one probably for my recording, practicing and gigging as I've been wanting a pedal board solution to go direct, because where I play most of the time and most of the clubs don't allow loud stage volume or amps at all.. So, this is the perfect solution. I personally only need one amp.. Some other effects and I can put together a gigging and recording solution. I might go with the recto personally, but I like 800s with drives attached or mods like this one with enough gain and I can go direct which I love!
    Thanks again brother.

    I think this is the most versatile of the new Ampworx pedals, but i still think the V550 is my guy, core kid for life.

    Love your videos very informative what’s the signal chain. I have bought the pedal after your review but can never get any of the gain that you have going even through an sm57. Thanks

    Great review. While the red channel is a modded jcm 800, is the green channel sound is a sort of a jcm 800 stock?

    • @jose_simon
      @jose_simon ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re both the same amp. The green channel is the “low sensitivity” input and the red channel is the “high sensitivity”.

    Hey man, will this work in front of a cheap combo amp with no fx loop? Or only direct/cab sim or in fx loop? 🤷‍♂️

    • @JakeLeighGuitar
      @JakeLeighGuitar  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will technically work, but I don’t think you’ll be happy with the results. To be honest you’ll probably be a lot happier using a Marshall style amp in a box pedal instead like the NUX Plexi Crunch, Friedman BE-OD or PAL800 are all good options. Hope that helps.

    Yeah, those guys like the sykes guy and metal guys were good for 80s,I would like to watch those old guys really play ,Ill bet they could do some Travis style or maybe some Brain setzer ,Have bass and treble strings working togrther at the same time,They are probably really great when they are at home .

    My forever question with these pedals: how does it sound if you use it as a silent practise rig with just the pedal and some headphones?

    • @Strato-Kasper

      Sounds great! [Headphone out is the cab-sim channel] Kinda low volume but fine for silent practice

    Truth indeed I agree mate...My first Marshall was a disappointment...it sounded nothing .😢 like Joe Satriani...😂..then I learned about overdrive stacking and all the other stuff that is put in front....Bloody Hell😂

    • @JakeLeighGuitar

      He did. Apparently now he plays EVH. But all the times I saw him was when he was fronting Thin Lizzy in the early 2000s and was using a pair of 50 watt 800s.

    • @JakeLeighGuitar
      @JakeLeighGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but it’s not recommended by TC Electronic or even myself, it doesn’t sound very good used that way. You’ll get much better results into the effects return.
