I think that’s very accurate, my grandfather was a marine in the pacific and he very seldomly talked about it, but when asked about how he would’ve described the Japanese, he said he was sure they’re a very honorable people but good god they’re brutality was unmatched, they weren’t a surrendering type of people. His brother was in Europe and described the Germans as excellent soldiers and hard fighters, every inch was contested but they atleast surrendered when they were beat.
Very hard to keep a dry eye watching the Pacific. I felt bad for the Japanese soldier left all by himself and used for target practice. And the ending....
It was a great dishonor to the Emperor, their nation, and their family to surrender. The chrysanthemum was ground off all their bolt action rifles as they did not want to dishonor their Emperor.
The trilogy is now complete. Hanks and Spielberg have created the gold standard against which all WW2 productions will be compared, from now on. You can be proud of this, gentlemen. Congratulations.
I still feel that we need a Navy dedicated series. Not 95% marine dedicated like the Pacific (which is my favorite). The real naval battles of Midway, Wake Island, Philippine sea etc. Maybe even start at Pearl Harbour.
@@davaemaximus9333 I wonder if a navy show would have similar problems to Masters of the Air. Of course it was great, but I feel the way in which the story is told and the pacing is off for a lot of it which is probably due to the nature of the show being almost entirely within the bombers and the bases etc. BoB and The Pacific felt a lot more natural at least to me.
A beautiful, moving, superb, trilogy of themes, each perfectly capturing the essence of the very different WW2 arenas they portray. Spielberg and Hanks have created the quintessential screen experience to celebrate and remember the courage, bravery and sacrifice of a generation of men we must never forget.
Yes, I totally agree with you. I think they had the worst theater to fight in. Everything, food, water, ammunition, medical, weapons, etc had to be brought in by ship. None of that was there when they invaded an island unless of course what was captured from the Japanese. There were no roads already built, houses or towns to take shelter in, nothing. Just jungle, insects, rain, disease, rough terrain, none of the comforts of a civilized, established world.
A very unique generation of young men and women who lived, fought, and died for our Country. They were up to the task. Thank you for rising to the call!
I didn't immediately realize that he had done both Pacific and MOA, but when I heard the horn sections of both productions, the similarities became clear to me: There is something in common here. I don't know much about music, but I can recognize great productions like these.
BoB is great drama, story telling. But the revelations about the numerous errors, of which Ambrose, Hanks and Spielberg were aware, diminishes the series. The willful dishonesty to create characters is tragic. Liebgott, Speers, Sobel, Sink, Dike, Blithe, all were poorly and frequently deliberately misrepresented to create drama. This dishonor to honorable men needs to be corrected.
All this music was inspired by the memories of those brave soldiers who died on all of those battles, knowing what was going to happen they kept moving forward, defending their country, their families and their brothers in arms, and some dying for them with honor and GOD on their side. We the the people don't have enough tears to cry for those precious souls but as a veteran I will cry for them and remember them till the end of my days, is the least I can do. God bless them.
The pacific has the best opening of them all in my opinion. Literally the GOAT theme and still gives me chills, MOTA a close second and BOBs.. Music stirs the emotions surrounding these remarkable stories. 👏🏾
If it wasn't the D-day all Europe would be under the Nazi occupation for many years more.As a Greek citizen i salute all these brave men who fought and gave their lives for freedom.Never forget them.80 years have all ready passed from that day,the most important DAY of the war and we must not forget never......
Even if Band of Brothers is my Fav the Masters of the Air Intro just gives me chills. I am a Vet but they where the greatest Generation fought on 5 Fronts and Beat 3 Countries. ❤❤❤❤
Band of Brothers, The Pacific….one and one others brave, touching, encouraging stories keep telling us war is cruel, horrible scenes, but fighting for freedom is needed , sacrifices for peace and justice are needed and we must fight for justice and freedom. Salute to all those soldiers contributed their valuable lives!
I feel that the best intros, in order, are "Band of Brothers", "Masters of the Air", and "The Pacific". But all three series are absolutely phenomenal.
Now that Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks's war series trilogy have completed, here are my personal awards for the three: Band of Brothers: best storyline The Pacific: best scoring and opening Masters of the Air: best CG and editing But my personal favourite and the best one according to me will always be Band of Brothers
The further away we get from those times and the exemplary men who fought and gave so much, the more I admire them and their courage. The more I worry for today. The abuse of the freedom so costly won by that greatest generation. Im not an American but God bless each and every one of them. There will never be their likes again.
Masters of The Air is great, but what stops it from being PHENOMENAL is that it’s too short. I wish it was at least 2-3 episodes longer, would’ve liked more Rosenthal missions. Overall, much stronger series than The Pacific IMO.
The problem Is these are real events so they can only make a series last as long as the notes taken from the pilots and crewmen allow, they can't just go throw 3 false missions that Rosenthal ran just to make it last longer lol
General Lee at the battlefront received a casualty report from General Longstreet in one of the battles during the American Civil War, or as the south called it, 'The War of Northern Aggression". Lee read it and replied, " It is good that war is so horrible, lest we grow fond of it." So very true.
All three of these series were simply superb. Band of brothers show us the true comaderies that are made in war and immensly strong bond that these men had. It was truly a masterpiece. The pacific is by far, if not the, most brutal depiction of Combat in the pacific ever put to film. It has humbled many and Given nightmares to many more. It was also an incredible production that didn't hold back about the brutalities of war. The DVD box set has a very true statement in the bottom right hand corner. "Hell was an ocean away". Masters of the was very good. I was pleased and also very moved by the stories told. They really showed how fast lives were lost up the skies of europe. You felt the true nature of loss and sacrifice the Army airforce suffered....and suffered they did. Now to round off the ultimate WW2 American trilogy we would need a Naval story...maybe that followed a ship, maybe multiple crew members from seperate ships. USS Massachusetts? USS Wesr Virginia? US navy destroyers in the pacific? US submarine warfare? All fantastic concepts.

Band of Brothers has the best opening theme music, The Pacific has the best content overall, meaning its the best show of all 3, Master of the Air has the best scenes during its opening theme credits.
Heck no is Pacific the best show of the 3. Doesn’t even compare to Band of Brothers. Masters and Pacific are on a closer match, but compared to the masterpiece that is Band, it’s not even a competition
It may very well be which one you watched first. I saw the Pacific first as it aired on HBO in 2010. On top of that when I think of WW2 I think of the Pacific Theater above all else.Perhaps that is why The Pacific was the best to me.I watched BOB second and just wasn't as impressed as The Pacific but without question it was good.
Es una serie espectacular, me encantó. Representa la universalidad del sentir y del espíritu del soldado, con sus defectos y virtudes; no todos son valientes y los que realmente lo son, sobresalen del montón en momentos claves. Excelente.

BoB. Bravery of ordinary men under extreme circumstances and the Bond of soldiers under fire, The Pacific. Horrors of War and the Dehumanization of the Enemy, Masters of the Air. The "Why we fought" mentality, and the scale of war
Damn each of these Military series music intro’s from BoB, The Pacific, and now Masters got better and better! The inevitable U.S. Navy’s Biopic Intro has some big shoes to fill…
Die Musik ist bei allen top. Allerdings ist Hans Zimmer mit der Musik zu The Pacific aufgestiegen in die Riege der ganz großen Komponisten. Gänsehaut und Emotionen pur!

Seriously the one thought that goes through my mind every single time I watch any fighting scene from any of the miniseries I am utterly and totally in awe of the bravery the men and women then......and now.

It’s hard to pick which one as my favorite, but man, do I get chills from each one. I would love for them to return to the Pacific to follow a few sailors and aviators from Midway to Leyte Gulf. I’ve seen a few comments already sharing the same sentiment. Pick three ships to follow; a cruiser (USS Indianapolis), a carrier (USS Enterprise) and a submarine (USS Wahoo). Just an idea.
Who would have thought US Airforce would loose so many men in this war; more than the US Marines. People dont realize that of all blunders US leaders committed in the War, the bombing campaign was the most tragic with the least amount of military gain. Realizing later ( after so many casualties already suffered) that bombing was not reducing Germany’s military capabikity, US B Command changed strategy and sent the bombers airborne as bait for US fighters to destroy the Luftwaffe. Luftwaffe later was disabled but for so much sacrifice of American men and machine. This was tragic really. It must have been terrifying for every US bomber crew member knowing they have 50/50 chance of surviving in each sorty. If I was alive back then, i would not choose US air force.
This is not yet complete, for many stories remain to be told. Some have mentioned naval action, which should cover Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine (Atlantic and Pacific), but also the home front (the dreaded telegram) of those who provided the means to prosecute the war, the special ops (commandos, OSS, Merrill's Mauraders), and the W.A.S.P (and others units). Many know of the USS Indianapolis, though perhaps not of the USS Juneau (only 10 survived). The journey is not yet complete...
I have often wondered what the "red hue" which arises throughout The Pacific introduction song symbolizes? Does it represent the Rising Sun of the Japanese Empire, the amount of blood that was spilled during these battles, or what?
the soundtrack of Master of air does not do justice to the story of the bombers and the pilots. it is the weakest of the three soundtracks. In fact, there is no comparison with the other two. Too much emphasis too much noise. I'm sorry. I know BoB and the Pacific by heart. I always get emotional when I listen to the theme music of the two TV series. It's a shame that for master of air they didn't find a strong identity theme.
"And when he goes to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: 'Another Marine reporting Sir, I have served my time in Hell.'" Inscription on the grave of a Marine on Guadacanal.

There should be a series for the Navy in my opinion but all three intros are amazing.
Other good movies are 1917 and Sin novedad en el frente 2022
The Pacific intro is too long imo. Great theme but goes on too long.
The Pacific is 16 seconds longer. That’s all.
How about a miniseries about women’s role in WW2, spies pilots ect!?
Would love that ❤️
Just watch that new Ben Mendehlson show about the fashion designers during the war.
Yes, absolutely.
Big no for me dog. I’d much prefer a show set around the Tuskegee Airmen. They actually had a decent role in the war
how about something submariners?
Have you tried das boot its about u boat crews?
@@thevanguard6342 yes,but i want something more
@@florinispas1953 true, a dedicated show from the makers of the pacific is needed
Didn't watch Masters of the Air because it was always going to be too much CGI.
the soundtrack of Master of air does not do justice to the story of the bombers and the pilots. it is the weakest of the three soundtracks. In fact, there is no comparison with the other two. Too much emphasis too much noise. I'm sorry.
I know BoB and the Pacific by heart. I always get emotional when I listen to the theme music of the two TV series. It's a shame that for master of air they didn't find a strong identity theme.
Propaganda from the United States...But terribly well done...
Jealousy is an ugly color you wear it best.
@@madisonvanessaroccoa-teller rien à voir avec la jalousie...justes des faits. Mais vraiment très bien réalisé.
I wish we had a Band of Brothers style show about the USS Enterprise CV-6
