All of you naysayers have no insight as to what this series was all about. You’re so determined to rip it apart to show how ‘smart’ you are that you totally forget the younger generation who may just watch this series, who just may decide to investigate WWII, who may just want to take up flying, who just may decide to go into the military to serve their country. My God … get a life and stop trying to make yourself feel superior than most of us civilians. I don’t care about the inaccuracies, nor the timeline of events. I’m 80 years old… my husband and his brother, my father and all 4 of his brothers, served during WWII. Maybe not in direct combat, except for my Uncle Kenneth, who was blown off a ship in Pearl Harbor, but they all served in some capacity. I’m proud of their service, as well as the men in MOTA, most of whom never made it home. Some of the actual crews who are still living, as well as many of the family members of the fallen pilots, attended the premiere and were totally captivated with the show, saying they felt like they were back in the cockpit again. Those are the only people who have a right to complain. Thank God there are some people who are supportive of MOTA, and the producers, and the cast and crew, who have poured their money, their hearts and souls into bringing the story of these men to life. I hope we will never forget these men who fought so valiantly to help end Hitler’s reign over the world! Thank you sirs for your service to our country!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I must disagree If not historically accurate the stories become lies and Lies told long and loud enough become facts. E.G .Eichelberger being the Commander in New Guinea , Johnson in a P47 beating a Spitfire IX in mock combat etc etc
Amen. My dad and 4 of my uncles served in WWII. Unfortunately, one of my uncles didn't come home. He was killed while on patrol on the German/Czech border on May 5, 1945, three days before the end of the war in Europe. He landed at Normandy and came that close to making it home. So sad.
If you take a closer look, those commenters are not speaking from a military perspective but just a tv show viewer perspective, discounting the fact that this does justice as an accurate telling of the 100th in a highly genuine way, epitomizing civilian arrogance.
One scene missing from the list - when Rosey is rescued by the Russians after bailing out of his plane. “Coca Cola, Roosevelt, Americanski”. Also, Eagan’s arrival at the POW camp should have been higher. And Rosey’s arrival back at the base as the only returning plane should have been highlighted more on this list.
Egan never returned to Thorpe Abbotts, in real life. He was repatriated straight back to the USA. That is probably why it was not included. As the entire thing was fictional, unlike Cleven escaping and returning to the base.
@@jacktattis - According to the after-report, Cleven escaped somewhere around Nuremberg. He was apparently on-the-run for a few weeks, and returned to Thorpe Abbots a few days after Rosenthal returned from Poland and the Soviet Union.
the whole of last episode was nothing short of a masterpiece. I was swelled up throughout. Overall it was a super amazing show, did not feel bored at any point. Up there with band of brothers and the Pacific.
I’m surprised at how down some commenters are on this show. It definitely wasn’t anywhere near band of brothers, but it was still pretty good. I felt about the same for this as I did for the pacific. The pacific was better, but it also isn’t close to band of brothers. Some good moments and episodes and some episodes that dragged. The acting wasn’t as strong in this as in the pacific. I think the major problem was that all the real life guys are dead, so the show couldn’t impart any specific moments of intimate wartime brotherhood. There were the major events, and too much focus on the leads. The side characters had no personality.
None of the men in the 100th trained together, and the group’s most famous pilot was a replacement. The 100th is famous for everyone dying, and being Robert Rosenthal’s bomb group. While, Crosby actually hated Cleven and Egan in real life.
Agree with your last comments - too much focus on the Bucks (insignificant once shot down, and played by two mediocre actors). The side characters should have had more air time. Don't be surprised about the down comments - it really is a poor show at times, with many inaccuracies and mistakes. It is dramatic, and works as a crowd pleaser, but it is nowhere near the scale of Bob and Pacific (which is what Apple TV advertised it as being).
You should all look up a movie called The Memphis Belle. The Belle was the first Flying Fortress to come back from enough missions to have her crew go home. They were sent on a war bond tour.
@@cleverusername9369 - Historically, the American flag was raised at Moosburg to signal to the armored division that it was a POW camp, and to not shoot at them.
Four moments I would have had picked. "A Debt settled" Buck gives the bar keep a memento to settle a grudge.. The bar keep points Buck to a narwal tusk and details the event. Buck can only reply with "Sounds about right".. "Howling Wolf Ole Meatball" On landing the crew of Alice from Dallas (Bucks Ship) off loads after landing in England, but this fort has not 10 but 11 crew.. A husky named Meatball, touted as being part wolf - Buck points out it's a wolf that is part dog and wouldn't stop howling! "FIRE" What young boy doesn't like fire.. crew chiefs clean the hard stand with the help of two local boys, they get to set the blaze "He went down swinging" Following a late night with a polish woman, Eagen goes for a walk to get a paper, he walks past a English house that was hit during a German blitz on London. Shaken by this by pushing past it, he buys a paper, reading a byline about a major bombing raid. Seeing this he is moved to call back to base to check on his guys.. -He went down swinging- is a gut punch and is a major shift in dynamic of this show. Lets add ONE bonus.. "Boys will be Boys" Racing bikes is something guys and gals will be doin as long as bikes are around.. And when someone fires his colt 45 into the ceiling to open the race we are treated to and iconic and amazing scene of youth.. the closing of the race as air raid sirens stop them, see's Buck and Bucky watching on as German bombers strike.. And a chilling realization settles in.. Unlike other installments such as "Band of brothers" and the "Pacific" ~ "Masters of the Air:" - Dives head long into the heart breaking real life hell US Bomber crews and Germans and American Fighter pilots dealt with. It is IMPORTANT to understand the loss rate of the 8th AF _ More airmen where lost the all of the WW2 US Marines. While every day moves forward, each day we are losing the Woman and Men, of this amazing generation - To those who would fought in the cold blue skies aloft, I salute you. @mojo. Amazing collection of moments! Cheers!
I've often wondered about how officer aircrew jumping from a burning or shotdown bomber have the time to pick up and carry their uniform caps with them, but the rank and file never do. I guess it's a mystery only movie wardrobe crew know the answer to.
People don’t realize you were far more likely to survive as a ground troop in Europe. My father in law was a Bombardier 1st Lieutenant on a B17. Made it to Europe early 43. Yes you had hot showers and food plus a bed every day. Problem was you had to live long enough to enjoy it. He never spoke of the war nor did I ask. God Bless all who have served they deserve peace
I have to disagree If we are not historically correct we are just sending the wrong messages "Lies told long enough and loud enough become fact" And these mini series are so fall of them E.G The scene in Band of Brothers where the Brit Tank commander will not engage the tank on his left after being told it was there. A complete nonsense scene and a bloody lie
They cannot be compared. Different type of campaign, different type of fighting, different type of unit. It required a different type of story telling.
This was a really good show. It sucks it got compared so much to Band of Brothers and The Pacific that it really wasn't appreciated for great show that it was.
Sorry but this series is pretty cruddy. Bears little resemblance to the actual experiences within the Mighty Eight Air Force. Also, it is pretty obvious NONE of the actors have combat or military experience. You are better off watching documentaries (for combat footage) or Twelve O' Clock High (for understanding the mindset). Just as one example...bombing U-Boat pens was NEVER successful until very late in the war when the RAF provided 12,000 lb Tallboy bombs or 22,000 lb Grand Slam bombs (which really only the Avro Lancaster could carry).
@@Ink364 Many actors in the past had combat experience. Jimmy Stewart flew missions in the air corps. James Earl Jones was in the military so when he acted in Dr. Strangelove he actually knew what he was lampooning. Clint Eastwood served, etc. So yes you're right. They are actors. I will amend my comment. "These guys are cruddy actors who don't have a clue how to play a "soldier" (as you say though you should really say airman since nobody in "Masters of the AIR" is a soldier. )
Didn't like the series at all. Producers didn't give the book justice and failed admirably in historical parts. The red tails operated in Italy for one, and never protected bombers from England. Tuskeege airmen were in Italy, not over the routes flown over by the 8th AF. Too much "pretty boy" time, Too much "oh shit here comes flak" (yeah well, what did you expect. There was no "Oh shit enemy bullets in Band Of Brothers, Nor The Pacific.) Too much commiserating in the cockpit just for movie drama, instead of flyers concentrating on their job, especially well done in The Pacific with soldiers doing their job under enemy fire.
Sorry, but the Munster Raid beats Regensburg, by a landslide. Honestly, Ep.3 is arguably one of the worst episodes of the miniseries. While, Episode 5 is the strongest. It was impossible to differentiate between anyone in those planes. Whereas, with Munster, the focus was only on Egan’s and Rosie’s planes. The carnage was shown through their perspectives. In regard to No.5, what makes that sequence even more tragic is that Rosie is Jewish himself, and does not even need the translators to explain what he is seeing and hearing. He also knew what that industrial complex really was, before the smell of death hit his nose. Which is why he asked to leave the truck.
@@rubbishmodeller - Rosenthal did see the camps in Poland, on his way to Moscow. That sequence was based directly on something that happened to him. Some things are so crazy that a screenwriter cannot make them up.
Thanks. I just watched the scene again. It is really well done. The only thing I would like to have seen them add is some sort of narration or titles. Żabikowo was also a prison camp, not just a labour camp for Jews - in the last years of the war it mainly housed captured Polish resistance fighters, as well as American and Soviet POWs. Many of these died there before the death march to Sachsenhausen in January 1945. The fireside conversation between Rosie and Crosby was a really good opportunity to cover these topics, but was far too short. Rosies comment that ''they had it coming'' was too vague (and a bit corny). But Mann and Boyle were great - best two actors by far. @@ChienaAvtzon
What a missed opportunity this series was. Subpar execution, poor casting, no focus or unifying theme. It wasn't BAD, but it could have been so much better.

Good day everyone God bless. Please remember the true meaning of Easter this holiday. Its not about Easter bunnies and Easter hunts and candy. Easter is about Jesus sacrificing himself so that our sins can be forgiven. Jesus took the burdens of the whole world and was betrayed and crucified in the process for us to be saved. God forgave everyone and what they did to his only son and now every lasting life exists for those who believe. Jesus rose on the third day in his body and showed us that he truly is the son of God.❤🎉🙏🏽

WELL SAID !!!! :)
The imagery of Rosie under his parachute with his flaming plane falling behind him - wow !
@@ChienaAvtzon where did Cleven escape from.?
@@jacktattis - According to the after-report, Cleven escaped somewhere around Nuremberg. He was apparently on-the-run for a few weeks, and returned to Thorpe Abbots a few days after Rosenthal returned from Poland and the Soviet Union.
@@ChienaAvtzon was it a prison or POW CAMP
the whole of last episode was nothing short of a masterpiece. I was swelled up throughout. Overall it was a super amazing show, did not feel bored at any point. Up there with band of brothers and the Pacific.
agree - me too - had tears throughout the series - i knew vets from the 100th
@@ronaldleigh1933 oh wow this must've hit you hard. They were all amazing men
I loved this show so much
I’m surprised at how down some commenters are on this show.
@@ChienaAvtzon The Bucks and Crosby never really interacted as friends. Mostly as professional colleagues.
@@rubbishmodeller - “Masters of the Air” is far from a crowd-pleaser, and “The Pacific” is complete garbage.
Because people stupidly expected it to be Band of Brothers in the air, which it could never be. It was a totally different type of campaign.
You should all look up a movie called The Memphis Belle. The Belle was the first Flying Fortress to come back from enough missions to have her crew go home. They were sent on a war bond tour.
Grandiosa serie!
I served in the 100th, RAF Mildenhall Box D.
He doesnt plant the flag for celebration but for the allied troops to stop shooting at their own.
The allied troops weren't shooting at their own, they were perfectly aware of who was in the prison camp.
@@cleverusername9369 in the series there are tanks shooting which is the point he turns to get the flag.
@@cleverusername9369 - Historically, the American flag was raised at Moosburg to signal to the armored division that it was a POW camp, and to not shoot at them.
Will this series ever come out on DVD?
only if pirate :(

I gotta get this series!
Don't bother! It's a complete waste of money!
@@Klassiker- No god, not pay for it, stream it ;))
Four moments I would have had picked.
"FIRE" What young boy doesn't like fire.. crew chiefs clean the hard stand with the help of two local boys, they get to set the blaze
"He went down swinging" Following a late night with a polish woman, Eagen goes for a walk to get a paper, he walks past a English house that was hit during a German blitz on London.
Cheers!
I honestly thought them german civilians beating up and killing downed airmen were farfetched but it was true...
Bucky wasn't mistaken for dead the guard had no ammo left
I've often wondered about how officer aircrew jumping from a burning or shotdown bomber have the time to pick up and carry their uniform caps with them, but the rank and file never do. I guess it's a mystery only movie wardrobe crew know the answer to.
Já assisti e, é muito boa a série... bem ao estilo Band of brothers.
Favorite World War ll film is The Big Red One .
No only two US movies were close to reality When Trumpets Fade and Hacksaw Ridge
Should have included the P-51 escort scene or the food drops for the Hunger Winter.
Good series
Operation Chowhound and 'Many Thanks Yanks!'
I'm not sure about the date. That's how we wrote the date in the military, however I don't know how they wrote in WWII
I have to disagree If we are not historically correct we are just sending the wrong messages "Lies told long enough and loud enough become fact" And these mini series are so fall of them
E.G The scene in Band of Brothers where the Brit Tank commander will not engage the tank on his left after being told it was there. A complete nonsense scene and a bloody lie

What about the attempted landing but hit trees then exploded
They really dropped the ball on this series.
Egan singing was the best moment in the show
It's what they call TWEE in England.
Great series, yet I still prefer Band of Brothers.
They cannot be compared. Different type of campaign, different type of fighting, different type of unit. It required a different type of story telling.
Hello good morning 😮😮😮
This was a really good show. It sucks it got compared so much to Band of Brothers and The Pacific that it really wasn't appreciated for great show that it was.
Were there really even 10 good moments from this disappointing series?
Cheating was quite common in ww2, like what crosby did to jean, most likely jean did the same.

“It’s pretty obvious that the actors have no combat experience” 😂😂. Yeah, they’re actors playing a role…acting. They’re not soldiers.
Probably one of the worst films on aerial warfair that I have seen.
I didn't see any of it because I refuse to pay for Apply TV. Shame on Tom Hanks for selling out to Apple.

I disagree with the narration from this video....the Tuskegee Airmen didn't get killed or captured just bc they were black that's not fair to say
Sandra's storyline made zero sense idk why she was in the show. She is a good actress but i feel like her segment took away from the show
PLEASE do Top 20 Sexiest Male Video Game Characters!!
But did that incident with Rosie actually happen, or was it made up to include a reference to the Holocaust in the series?
Tuskegee was abolutely not a top 10 moment.
For you. Sorry to say you're not the only viewer.

The narration is not needed. Not wanted.
is it only me that thinks this is a crap show ; maybe we're too dumbed down since BoB days .....
It was a decent series, but Band of Brothers and the Pacific were better.
Band of Brothers a joke really a joke
Unnecessary annoying narration. Avoid.
What a missed opportunity this series was. Subpar execution, poor casting, no focus or unifying theme. It wasn't BAD, but it could have been so much better.
Utter nonsense.
Episode 3 the Regensburg mission, I think it’s the most gripping episode of TV I’ve ever watched. It’s such a shame the series went off a Cliff shortly afterwards
