It's starting to get a bit chilly for walk & talks here (Minnesota), but I agree, it's much easier to think as you're taking a nice walk, and it provides some great scenery such as out beautiful fall colors. Congrats on 500, keep 'em coming!
If you're worried about plateauing at almost 500 subs, wait till you experience the painful creep between 980 subscribers and 1000. My advice, don't dwell on it and do not monetize at 1000 and wait until you average 500 - 1000 views per video or you'll be sorely disappointed (unless you have a truly viral video). The only reason I monetized at 1000 was because YT was putting commercials on some of my more popular videos anyway which really irked me.
Thanks for the advice. I've been told there have been some ads in my videos as well. The other good thing about monetizing is I could do the always popular "what youtube paid me" videos lol
You're SOOOO close to 500 and you'll hit 1K before you know it. Keep going and be you - that's what makes your channel special. We like your personality and your insights. Some of our videos get very low views and it gets depressing but then another one will get more views which gets us motivated again. It's a cycle that we've experienced many times. Hang in there because you're doing great.
Great video! I get a kick out of you saying anything below 70 degrees is chilly!! 70 degrees is above normal here in Nova Scotia this time of year :) And yes, absolutely do a live stream! I think you'd really enjoy it... and it's a great way to really boost your watch hours! Cheers :-)
@@LifeAsAllen I didn't have all that I have now when I first live streamed... but I definitely had more than I needed. The one thing that helps with live streaming (once you have a camera and microphone of course) is having a second monitor... especially if you want to share your screen with your audience. Also when I first started I used Streamyard to live stream... it's browser based and made things super simple :-)
You are doing great! You started after me and I plateaud a while ago ago. Almost 500 is amazing! Wish I could do a walk and talk, but can’s speak off the cuff yet, and it will be 20’s and 10’s here soon, 70 degrees sounds amazing 😁. I think no matter what your videos are about, you will do well, as you have great camera presence.
As of writing this, you're stuck on 666 subscribers. You definitely want to get past that number! 🤣 As for Walk n' Talk in cold weather... I'm originally from California but live in Scandinavia (for over 40 years) and my Walk n' Talks are about to get frosty... I hope you find your niche.
Hi Allen - took me more than a year get full mobility ii my shoulder after tearing my rotator cuff while kayaking with my son. Soft exercise and a bit of physio.
That's what I'm hearing, Tony. Technically I have a SLAP tear. I haven't been as good with rehabbing as I should be, so that's not helping. Hope yours is doing better.
Trying a live video would be good. I have never done that yet. I would keep talking about cameras and video because that’s what you know best but keep weaving your own story into. Last video with your son was great. I just enjoy whatever you make
Nothing beats a walk and talk Allen I agree. I love this video. I am starting to get a little more comfortable talking to the camera and soon I plan to have more of what I originally planned to do. You are a huge inspiration to me and my journey. I’m so happy with you reaching close to 500 and I believe it’s going to happen any moment now. I learned so much through your few videos. I wish to see more of you talking about life and your journey so far. I like the idea of live. Helps us ask questions and cover things we wish to learn. I feel you should get to teach us how to film better too and getting comfortable with the camera. That’s something I feel many of us wish to learn. Thanks Allen and I’m so so looking forward to your next 500 video. 😊😊
I have a ton of stories about my career. The video I did about me being bald was one of them and it didn't do so well lol. I'll probably sprinkle in some filming tips from time to time, including my next video I'm planning. Thanks for the suggestion.
I don't really like to give advice, but I do have rules to live by. --> Keep your expectations low. That way you will never be disappointed. You're doing great, probably better than 99% of people who start TH-cam channels. When it happens for you, it will happen all at once, just like falling down the stairs.
I'm a big boy so I welcome all advice! I guess as I mentioned in the video, it's not like my growth would lead to much on the monetary side anyway, so don't get too worked up about it, right?
Love the journey! Your videos are inspiring me to starting.
I think that talking about what you use for editing would make a good video, as a suggestion for a future video.
I agree walking it out is always a good way to get the juices running and it makes me feel like I took a walk as well :)
@@Iz-SixtyandBeyond Exactly!
Just subbed and pushed it to 500. Congrats on making that milestone! 🎉
Thanks, Tim! I appreciate it.
Thanks from all of us - 423 and rising!

Thanks, Rob! Did you wait until you had all the livestreaming gear before you did your first one?

I love the Thumbnail for this video! Looking forward to that 500 video!
Thanks! I brought my assistant along to take it for me.
I don't like cold weather either lol
How about stories from your career? Or filming tips?
