    As a self confirmed tractor junkie i think this is brilliant. I ront have an economy/power king yet, but look to have one on the future. I have a pair of wheelhorses and a simplicity whoch get the current workout

    All things being equal that modification would labor the engine more but since it's not excessive this results in greater productivity. Great job.

    Great idea. I have a mid 60s Jim Dandy, one trans. Picked up the rear trans at a tractor show about 15 years ago and still haven't installed it, lol. Have a 1955 economy too. Maybe I should put the rear trans on that one?

    We got a 71 Power king 14 Horse rated at 25 because of the gear drive transmission, has a 48 inch deck and it is just now starting to rust. Has been a good tractor with we replaced it with a Kubota ZG227 for next year.

      Sand your Power King tractor down and get her ready to prime, resand an spray paint. The color of tgd tractor itself is a Chevy engine paint, very similar, actually, matches thd original color of the tractor itself. They are super great, hard working tractors that are built like tanks. Have two snd never had trouble with either one of them.

    Way back we had a mail order Avery tractor that was too fast. It had a full frame instead of a torque tube. We put a 3 speed column type transmission behind the tractor transmission. We had an on farm machine shop and made our own spline addaptors. I now have an old Cub Cadet that I plan on doing the same thing to.

      Cub cadets have a low and high range gear box that fits without much issue. People treat them like they are made out of gold though :(

      they are very good tractors. A little extra work to hook up the implements but they're fun to use.

    It would be great to see how you attach and remove the tiller. We have one and I'm not sure how to hook it up.

    Where can I get a tiller like that for a '71?

    did you notice significant torque loss/working the engine harder when breaking ground?

    • @dewayneandsharon
      @dewayneandsharon 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all . I was quite surprised that it didn't. I actually fully expected it to stall out the engine as soon as I engaged it or if not, then when I lowered it into the dirt, but it didn't . It worked great. The only down side is that it still doesn't spend as much time digging as it would if geared down, but I can go over it a second time. I have used it quite a bit and I am very pleased with it. By the way, in the video I called it a 1974. I'm pretty sure it's actually a 72.

      cool i think mines a 78

      More like a 60's model. I have two. A 1973 and a 1974. They do not at all look like the one pictured here. The gas tank is under the hood, this one you can see the gas cap on top of the hood, that is why its a 60's model tractor.

    I need help on the tiller mule drive bracket and arms, mine are missing. I have the mule drive, but I don't have the bracket that hooks to the tractor that the mule drive "hooks" into. I also need the two bars on the side that slide over the round bar on the mule drive. If you could send me some pictures and measurements of the bracket that would be fantastic.

    All you are doing is tilling the top 3 or 4" and still not making the dirt powder. To properly till with an Economy you have to have a tandem transmission to slow the tractor down. The Economy tillers are notorious to strip the brass gear, not a cheap fix

    • @Dewayne3127
      @Dewayne3127  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t grow anything that can’t do well in 4” of loose soil. Don’t even know why I need more. More erosion is all I get for it.

      My dad had the same set up. If you tried tilling to deep is would pick the back wheels off the ground and push the whole tractor forward.
      Kind of scary since hitting the breaks did nothing without wheel contact.
      Only way to stop was to lift the tiller.
      I think it would have worked better if it had counter rotating tines.
