I have 1000+ matches and 500+ hours on this agent, my opinion he is honestly still the same except now instead of specific agents which can counter cypher like sova and raze , just other agents with non damaging utility to an extend can counter ur setups. A good cypher always have variations with his setups , so just make sure to always have variations withs ur setups every round. Riot just doesn't wants you to get free kills with unbreakable trips without getting countered. So if you keep using default setups , riot is allowing enemies to counter it without excess usage of utility.
Honestly the unbreakable trip nerf was deserved, but the nerf also means wall-bang trips are less effective now T_T. Shame but I guess it just means you have to play more aggressively to get the most out of your kit now.

So true, I am a cypher main and played a few games today in high asc lobby. The new tripwire def feels a little weird but its not at all as bad as they say. This nerf is nothing compared to the buffs cypher has gotten in the past. No timer on the enemy corpses for ult, extended range for the tripwires and second reveal in ult were crazy good buffs.
one of my biggest issues is the ult was increased and sages was buffed both being 7 so bringing a person back to life is the same as revealing at most 4 or less people universally

In lower elo, this nerf doesn't do a whole ton, because people are slow to shoot your trips and as while it does wind up to the full reveal, you can still see them through the smoke. It def makes unbreakable trips worse, but that's honestly fair, unbreakable trips are an unfortunate result of the current state of cypher which are really annoying to deal with.
Cypher still gonna do his thing luckily for me I’ve been playing hella Vyse (also other Sents) so I at least have different agents to play if things get rough
I was just about to decide to main cypher after coming back to the game. After discovering this nerf I immediately never want to play the agent ever again.
After playing a little since the nerf, I will say that some people will still escape my trips but still give me a chance to shoot the in the general direction and maybe get a pick, so the trip nerf, while makes it less reliable, having trips still recharge and reactivate after it being used is still very powerful, so I think trips are sort of balanced now and give people some chance to escape, the bad thing is that people will not be stunned in the 0.5 seconds so if they expect the trip or the trip is placed at a height near where their crosshair may be, then they have a good chance of escaping, but I think that is fair. But the Ult..... That is terrible. Cypher's Ult, while decent and can help you and your team to understand the opposite teams plan if you took site or retaking, it isn't very powerful, we have Neons ult which is actually impactful by giving her the ability of mowing down people fast and making her able to give her more kills, potentially making or breaking ng that round, which Cypher's Ult can be very helpful in securing the round, just from my experiences, not as helpful as Neons, and is not being nerfed, I do feel unfair. Overall, I think he is above average, he is not bad, he is good, he can still hold a site, but just not as well with the trip nerf. Supposedly Neon will be nerfed next update or something if I remember, and if the Ult is increased, I guess I can't argue with Cypher's Ult too much, as long as that happens
I would prefer having an old cypher kit (low range and non rechargeable trip) than this nerf. Also that ult is nowhere near broken especially if you compared it with other sentinel in the game
I think it really elevates skill ceiling for cypher now, scrubs wont be able to pick him up and play, which is what most low ranks do anyway so yeah people with good setups and playstyle won't be affected too much
Cypher rn is almost like prime chamber, the reason prime chamber was broken asf was because he was an agent who was a hybrid of a offence and defence character into one. Cypher right now on the other hand takes 2 aspects of a sentinel, to be able to combine global info and a high kill potential is like the single most deadliest thing for a sentinel. Just like how chamber was able to combine both offence and defence together. This ain’t a huge nerf, plus it’s only half a second, the second you trigger a cypher trip you’re instantly spelled out for death

The .5 delay just feels toooo long, in game it feels like a full 1-2 seconds before enemies are seen on my screen with the fade in effect :/ For the first time in my time playing Val, Cypher doesn't feel fun to play :((
How is he unplayable exactly, he’s still fine, yeah his trips have a delay before showing the enemy but it is not that bad and if you are quick enough with popping cages the enemies may not see the trips, this nerf kinda needed to happen anyway.

Hey buffed concuss so if they trips goes off its better vs mobile agents. They also buffed Sage vs mobility and are buffing Deadlock, whose job is to counter people trying to just run in. It's not like Cypher is the only anti-mobility agent out there.

I main cypher since like before neonn was out and I have to say the prebuff cypher was better than the sh^t now I just might leave cypher even though I played lie a thousand games with him On cypher’s kit only thing they shouldn’t have done was this. A shorter trip lenght was fine, only one use was fine. But this straight up makes it useless. Even silver players would probably %50 hit the trips before it activates
I completely disagree, as a sentinel you should be able to hold site even if it means getting kills while defending. NOT to get information, that's the initiators role all sentinels have a way to get kills except sage but now sage has been buffed. now any wires on entrances are horrible because not every entrance you have a one way for cage. then the fact it fades in after 0.5 that means you have about 0.3 seconds to get the kill before they break wire. FOR ME a BETTER nerf would've been to take off the constant ping of cypher's dart and go back to the old wires when they couldn't reactivate

His tripwires already gave global info, which made it tough to push without burning utility or risking getting caught. The problem was the lack of counterplay. His setup slowed the game down and forced players into bad situations with little room to adapt. While Cypher should excel at gathering intel, his kit went too far, letting him control rounds in a way that wasn’t fun or balanced. It’s good to see changes that tone him down while keeping him focused on smart setups and rewarding good strategy.
Unpopular opinion, but he is still the best sentinel in the game. His trips are great for gathering information, and they are still can rearm which is a huge advantage because he is the only sentinel, who's trips can rearm.
Cypher ult is mega strong. you literally know where everyone is playing so you can make the perfect rotation on attack for example. his whole kit was insanely overpowered and still is really strong. now he is once again more of an info agent which should have been the case all along

Nah as someone with 100 hrs on cypher, he was honestly busted. His ult was mostly an issue in vct since getting pinged twice in a round with exact locations is absolutely game winning.
They should allow killjoy to have full map rein like cypher, deadlock, and vyse. Also, deadlock sonic sensor should activate even when enemy tries to sneak past it. you should be able to hold flank as a senti.. deadlock is a little weak in this regard as enemies can just walk past it.

No, his trips on the other hand might as well be served up as a perfectly cooked, evenly seared on all sides, seasoned to the perfect degree, marbled like a5 wagyu, million dollar steak because they are literally now a glorified alarm clocks that go off when an enemy touches it. There is no point in putting these on site unless you want to time oneways now. From what I can see, cypher is going to be "the one way guy" from here on and you can expect to see them a LOT more.
