Another GI Joe I only had a chance of getting for Christmas or my birthday when it came out. I did get to operate a real AVLB (Armored Vehicularly Launched Bridge) in the Army though so this one is special to me as Tollbooth's file card lists him as a Specialist 5th Class combat engineer. The infantry and armor get all the glory but they couldn't get TO the fight without combat engineers like Tollbooth!
I was at fort Lenard Wood Missouri Recently for my sons graduation They had bridge layers on static display It was like looking at the Joe Version in full scale Great video
Here is a big THANKS to those who support Michael through patreon! Giving money when others can't. Thank you! For helping to support him in creating content for all ages to enjoy. Thank you Michael, for keeping the videos clean enough for 5 year olds to enjoy!
I totally love your toy reviews! This one was especially great! Playing outside with my Joes were some of my favourite childhood memories! I always wanted a Bridge Layer, but none of my friends or I had one. I actually just bought one last year and I love it!
One of my favorite G.I. Joe set that I never had. I always wanted one, but we were too poor to afford it. This brings back lots of good memories. Thanks for sharing.
This was the one G.I.Joe vehicle I aimed to get the Christmas I was mostly focused on Transformers. Unfortunately one of the struts on the bridgelaying mechanism broke off.
Awesome video buddy!!! I stumbled across your channel not long ago and let me tell you, I'm thankful I did! I LOVE all the content!!! Keep it up my friend!!!
been meaning to ask you do you are member the name of the kids G.I. Joe kit ? I can't are member if they made it in the 1970s originally but I know they made one in the 1980s where it was a belt compass and a bunch of odds and and and a soldier's helmet.i believe I've got the helmet and been trying to identify if it's from the 1960s or 1980s toy line and can't or member the name to look them up on eBay.u seem to be more of an expert than I am when it comes to G.I. Joe so figured I'd ask initially I thought the helmet went with a gun belt from the matrix G.I. Joe knockoff toy line in the 1960s but apparently that voice that didn't include a children's soldier's helmet helmet is for the size of about eight or 10-year-old kid made out of fiberglass if I'm right and it looks to have some sort of leather strapping on the inside or clot strapping it's quite similar to a military helmet except for the fact it's made of some sort of fiberglass Material.
I did some more digging and it turns out that helmet as wild as this is going to sound is not from a toy line it's a actual military issue fiberglass helmet from the 1940s or 50s. I was always under the impression that all military helmets were made out of metal. I found out there were some that are made from a fiberglass like material. I don't know if the inner liner on this helmet is shrunken or what but all the signs point to it being a small child size helmet which just makes me wonder what the hell. The numbering and everything match up to it being military release when I started looking up the numbers and such on the inside but it's just really small which puzzles me if you were to take the liner out of the helmet it would barely fit a average sized person like myself and with the liner it would fit roughly somebody the size of say an eight or 10-year-old. I don't know if the liner is shrunken with age or what. Never got my hands on a bridge layer yet that I can remember. Over the last year I've picked up to working mo bat tanks one of them 90% complete the other 100% complete and only thing they're missing is the action figure which I technically have around here somewheres. Paid less than $20 each for the pair of them at different places. If you poke around you can still pick up 1980s G.I. Joe toys at places that sell collectors toys for greatly undervalued prices I picked one of the mob at a comic book store for under $20 where they thought it didn't work problem was merely the brand of batteries they were using for whatever strange reason I can't explain some 1980s toys only work with certain brands of modern batteries I've had some toys that won't work with Duracell and other toys that won't work with the batteries from the dollar store which doesn't make any sense and it's not an issue with corroded contacts.
They don't make great toys this anymore kids these days don't know what there missing they only care about mobile phones and tablet devices or games consoles. Unfortunately I didn't have GI Joe toys back in the 80s but I did have some Transformers toys and the Rhino truck from Mask.
While I can't speak for *all* kids today, my personal experience is that an alarming number of them are as you described. The zombie apocalypse is here and it's not brains they're after. :D Keep your eyes peeled on the channel, I've got a video coming up that should be a great trip down memory lane for you.

I got this set a few years ago & was very happy as it was never sold in shops in the U.K.
No matter what environment snow, sand or dirt GI Joes look great outdoors. Thanks for your time and effort.
Agreed! Thanks for watching. Nerdmasté! 🙏
The joes line was the best. So many cool toys in the 80s

Love this! Great job. Still have my childhood Bridgelayer! Very cool.Joe vehicle
Bonus points for Toll Booth, as he can be used to complete a GI Joe Village People lineup :-)
Haha :D
Always loved the Bridge Layer!
Yes playing with our toys outside was serious business for us in the 80s.
The FSS updated Toll Booth action figure is amazingly epic!! Is like having a Pursuit of Cobra version of him. Modernize, very detail and functional.
Yup, they went all out with that one. :D
Definitely a great toy for the times. I dont think any other toy line has made a bridge layer.
Surprised they didn't reissue it either.
I love these story telling videos! With the clips and histories of different things they are very entertaining
Thanks! Nerdmasté! 🙏
One of my favorite G.I. Joe set that I never had. I always wanted one, but we were too poor to afford it. This brings back lots of good memories. Thanks for sharing.
Same here. A buddy of mine had it though and I think I played with it more than he did when we went on outdoor missions! :D
Pep's Channel - what i want to know is how much did they go for..im guessing in the us it went for $30 back in the 80's.
Not sure how expensive they were back back then, but $30 for a toy was too expensive for us growing up.
Pep's Channel - it was a lot for me too but i remember i got lucky one christmas got a box filled with almost the whole collection of silver hawks
I never had silver hawks. Never really watched that show, to tell ya the truth. It was all G.I. Joe and Transformers for me, lol.
This was the one G.I.Joe vehicle I aimed to get the Christmas I was mostly focused on Transformers.
Unfortunately one of the struts on the bridgelaying mechanism broke off.
Aw nerts.
They dont make them like they use to..this thing is 30+ years old and there aint nothin that tops it .
When I was a kid I had a second hand one. It was missing the bridge but still fun.

All I think of when I hear “and away we go” is Rick Sanchez
P.s. wubbalubbadubdub
Parabéns pelo vídeo!
Hi mate, awesome review!! One quick question - is this compatible with modern 4 inch figures?
Thank you. Yes it is.
Excellent review! I always wanted this one but never got it. One day :)
Thanks! Better late than never. :D
Did this vehicle come on the cartoon movie
I don't think so.
Yo joe!!!!!

I have a faint memory of it. I think every toy line had something like that. Early cosplay! :D
