    Just went here today, and #11 was running for the final time before the summer season began and the generous diesels could give the tired steamers a rest, and had a good talk with the friendly crew about all sorts of socal narrow gauge railroading.

    • @PickleDroner

      Thank you for bringing this to my attention. #11 is the workhorse and #10 was always on standby. It's my understanding that rarely they would run both. #12 is now on display in front of the station. It's been a while, so I need to go see what's going on..

    Omg I ha e gone there since I was a kid and you have now fulfilled my dream of seeing the BTS. It was also good to see some of the old trains and cars. I loved getting locked in that red box car next to 12 as a kid 😂

    One last remark I have about the park is that they are set to rebuild their giant park next to the main station in December, so more focus will be on the trains than the kiddie parks during construction.

    I used to live right next to it until I was 6, We went EVERY DAY. I'm super excited but sad that 10 is getting a new boiler, so they won't be running it for a while, they're using 207 instead.

    Every guy whom is a train fanatic wants one of these bad boys in his backyard. That roundhouse/repair bay is SERIOUS shiznitz. Almost made me drool. It could be profitable to give rail fans a train ride through the actual roundhouse and across the turntable. A rather behind-the-scenes look at narrow-gauge rail.

    • @PickleDroner
      @PickleDroner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a real shame that no-one gets to see it. maybe they can change things around a bit so folks get to see them move around on the turntable.

    I've been there before. Always wanted to see the stream loco run, but it's always been one of the diesels. Also wanted to see the smaller live stream railroad operating.

    • @PickleDroner
      @PickleDroner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Karl, this park is one of favorite places to visit. They do try not to use the steamer as much. They have 2 functional #10, and the more used #11 thats in these clips.they count mechanical hours and have to rebuilds in intervals which is costly. But here is a tip for your next trip. Weekdays will always be the diesel hydraulics. They try to run the steamers on weekends. Once we get past covid and it gets really busy they will but both steamers on the track at the same time.

    I am the last person still alive who had run #12. (Back in 78-79) Decades of prodding hasn't gotten Tom to finish the overhaul. There were some build errors that no one has wanted to overcome.
    You didn't show the trolley. That came from a resort just north of Payson that had a beautiful high steel trestle.
    I programmed and cut the cab panels for 207.
    Haven't had much to do with the park since Guy passed away. It became citified.

    • @PickleDroner
      @PickleDroner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trolley? I don't remember seeing a trolley unless I mistook it for a train cart.

      @@PickleDroner I believe he is talking about the yellow and red trolley in the model train building. I may be wrong but if you look up the trolley at the park, there is an image showing they used to run it.

    1:28, how can the locomotives get to the pit with the tracks not connected?

    • @tpopsbabies
      @tpopsbabies 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In front of that door they have an extra line of track going outside so the engine would have to be pushed out then they switch the points and then they put it on the service pit.

      Was just reviewing comments and thought I'd give an update. Engine #12 is now on display in the park grounds.

    • @tpopsbabies
      @tpopsbabies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      207 used to be a shunter. In 2002, Frank and Tom did a complete overhaul and converted it into an electric engine. When they did this, they took off the Bell and some other parts but they put 207‘s old Bell on the statue of 12 because engine 12s old Bell is now on engine number 10 if you ask Frank and Tom to show you some pictures of 207 before the overhaul, You can see that the shape of the bell is the same as number 12s current bell.
