How to Make a Nest Monotype Print on a Gel Plate - Fun with Gelli's

- In this video I take you on a tour of how I made a beautiful rustic nest mono print.
When working with gelli's, each pull is an adventure and no two prints will ever look the same. Some will turn out and others will flop. It just so happened that this print had the happy surprise of a "ghost image" from a previous project show up on the final pull. This gave the finished project the illusion of many eggs in the nest, so lovely!
I first learned this technique in a local class with teacher Judy Pence Milsaps. I was also influenced by Gelli Printing with Gabrielle • Gelli print tutorial b... , and Gabrielle was inspired by Alice-ART • Alice-ART Gelatine-Dru... .
I am in love with the beautiful detail and the naturally rustic results I am getting with this process. I hope you enjoy!
I used tall grass to form the nest, hand cut eggs, and an 8x10 Gelli plate. The image was printed on 100lb smooth Bristol paper for this project.
Thanks for watching.

What an amazing print. I believe this is the most realistic and beautiful print I’ve ever seen off of a Gelli plate. You are very talented! Your video is very clear with good instruction thank you so much. Not that I think I could ever accomplish that level of print. I look forward to seeing more tutorials from you. Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. The resulting print is beautiful. This is one of the absolute best tutorials I have seen using a Gelli Plate. It has vamped up my ideas on what I will now try using my plate. As I am a lover of birds I am going to try a nest print using my own design now! I too look forward to more tutorials from you. You are inspiring!

Thank you too!
Marvelous print! Thanks for the equally marvelous instruction for creating a similar print. Can’t wait for the spring grass to get tall enough to make a nest, and in the meantime, Imwill try the long dead grass, I have in my stash for, other prints.
Great! I'd love to see what you make!

Fab-u-lous 😍💖
😄Thank you!
Thank you! That’s a really good video!! It’s May 1st so I may have to wait for some grass to grow but I definitely want to try this! (Especially for the fairy journal I am working on but this would make a great framed picture also!)I found fern leaves at my local grocery store and a Boston fern to use as well on the gel plate. I pulled a couple of fantastic prints using three paint layers but now I can’t repeat them! I’m going to look for your other videos as I just now found you! Great work!!
Thank you! I hear you about sometimes getting fantastic prints and then duds! It's par for the course when gel printing.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!💗🙏😊💗
I got my first gel plate today and did this birds nest on my third print ever. It was so easy and turned out great thanks to your guidance! And it was so fun that I even did three more! 😁🤭💗
Wonderful!
that is so exciting!
Thank you for this clear and inspiring demo. Your print is so lovely. I made one, which didn't turn out too well, but will gather more grasses today and try again. The minor problems were from me, not from the process, which is so well demonstrated.
Printing on gellis is always an adventure. I made 8 other prints before I got this one. Some better than others. I’m sure you’ll get a couple of beauties once you get the hang of it. 😊
Wat mooi 👍👏🇱🇺
Thank you!
Wow..
:-)
Oh my goodness, I didn´t know what this technique is and that it is even possible to reactivate acrylic paint. XD I thought, okay, if it dried somewhere it stucks there more or less forever, and then this.
And you ´re using nature materials to press them down into the paint so every fiber would leave its form in it. If we ever talked about this in school I wasn´t there this day, it´s just beautiful.
So glad you liked the video! Let me know if you give it a go.
