    If is amazing to this non-equine person how much a horse can know through the small body movements of the rider. From even a small distance the observer can't see what the rider wants but the horse does. A horse is much more sensitive that most believe.
    Thanks for the great videos.

    This is so interesting, I’ve always ridden in a bit but one day I’d love to try tackless/bitless (on the right horse of course 😊)Thank you!

      Sorry yes that’s what I meant, and these videos are helping me do just that! I don’t know any horses that can be ridden bridleless right now but hopefully in the future it’s something I can work on! 😛🙂

    Thank you for the video first.
    Second, I have an interesting question that have been puzzling me, how should I treat my horse :
    1. As I am his boss and he should listen to what I say?
    2. As I am the one who will take care of him and I know what's good and bad for him ? Therefore we have a sort of partnership leading to us (me and the horse) caring for each other.
    Thank you in advance :)
    Stay safe

    • @Carroty_Peg
      @Carroty_Peg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why are you making the assumption you are the boss of your horse? Effective training rests on communication and rarely coercion and oppression. If this was the case, the stronger the bit / noseband etc the more control you'd have - yet it's not the case.

    • @gerrycoleman7290

    Thank you! A also met with something strange and new for me. A horse (not mine, but from stable, which I ride always) didn't want to move when I came to grab her o my lesson. She got angry and for a moment didn't let me touch her neck, then she calmed down but I was a bit confused. She didn't bite or anything, but what should I do if the situation will repeat? On the next lesson - tomorrow ill bring a carrot and i found a tip (edit) - you should put the rope around their belly just right where our legs are and prsee a bit, just to encourage them to move like by your legs

    • @CarmellaAbel
      @CarmellaAbel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Anna! Another thing you can try is moving your horses head back and forth, this can throw the horse off balance and cause them to step forward. As soon as they take a step, stop and reward!

    I love your videos they are super helpful! Also I have a question, my horse gets very aggressive when I try to lunge her or do anything that includes working,I don’t know if it’s cause she thinks she has dominance over me or if she’s just lazy. Do you have any tips that I could try or any videos on this topic? If so please let me know! ❤️

    What exactly are people doing with that outside leg to get them to turn? 😅 they always say outside leg inside rein but I don’t know what I’m doing with that leg

    • @CarmellaAbel
      @CarmellaAbel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! You’re just closing the leg around the horse; you can squeeze your calf against the horse

    • @warmbloodsx2129
      @warmbloodsx2129 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Much slower, one hole at a time, walk him between each tightening of the girth, and ease it up gently. Horses will anticipate pain when something has hurt them previously so it may take a good few trys before he believes it's not going to hurt again and settles down, other than that the most likely cause would be ulcers, very common ailment.

    • @graceconnolly5765
      @graceconnolly5765 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just start with keeping her in a paddock/roundpen, and do positive reinforcement with approaching her. never approach from straight on come at an angle as that tells her you are no threat. approach her with the hand closest to her out and if she turns towards the hand or goes to the hand immediately drop it and back up as a release of pressure. another thing would be to keep a dressage or lunge whip with you so if she acts aggressive or draws into you hand in a way that is showing that she wants to move you send her out in a working trot around the pen. of course dont hit her with it just send her out. my last tip would just be groundwork. lots of groundwork.

      Warwick Schiller is your guy. TH-cam him, other than that though the most likely cause of behaviour problems is pain!!
