  • Today I will be beach hopping along the beautiful Brunswick County coastline. We will start our day off with Holden Beach in hunt for the golden mail box. Then we will move to see a 2000 year old live oak tree before heading toward Ocean Isle and Sunset beach areas.

    My grandfather had a house at Holden Beach when I was little. Lots of great memories! It was called the Lazy L.

    Your in my neck of the woods.. Holden Beach is best place on earth but that pay parking gota go!!.. Next time you in Holden Beach area,. you need to check out Browns Landing, its a dead end road that you can look out at the Lockwood folly inlet where you can see Oak island on your left and Holden Beach on your right, its a very awesome view...

      In the video I walked to the mailbox with views of Lockwood Folly inlet. Is Browns Landing close to the mailbox? Thanks for watching friend.

    Have you ever found goat island? I want to find it but haven't been able to

      I think there is a goat island between bird island at Sunset Beach and the mainland.

      @@HitchHikingYeti I've been thinking about renting a boat and going to see it. Wild goats and a few historical but decaying buildings. I would love to see it. Sunset beach is my favorite.

    Thanks for the video; we are traveling to calabash NC next month (Sept) and this gave us something to look forward to; the beaches there are not congested like the ones in Jersey, maybe we'll move down there for retirement, thanks again.

    Hey, y'all, have you visited NJ? There are beaches that charge 8 or 10 bucks just to buy a "beach badge" even if one bikes or walks... every body pays. So enjoy while some things are still free! Brunswick beaches are the best!

      That is so sad to charge people for a beach badge.😔 Thanks for the heads up RLDavis!👍

    😂"These trees dont just birth cacti, do they?"😂 great video. We enjoy watching the trip and appreciate all the places you take us to..could you take us to Atlantic Beach, NC sometime? I have always wondered about it. Someone told me it was pretty cool, history around 18 min away at Beaufort NC. Not a ton a vlogs about it on the youtubes😊

    I came across your video today and Yes all the beach towns here now have paid parking with holden beach having year round paid parking, I know because I live here. Beaches Burgers def have very good burgers espc the mushroom burger yummy. They tore down the pavillion under the holden beach bridge due to being unfixble and the town of Holden Beach have been fussing over the pier and what they will do with it so that is its closed down. They ran the locals off of Holden Beach because of Paid parking .

    • @HitchHikingYeti
      @HitchHikingYeti  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I hate to hear about the paid parking. I was at Sunset Beach a few weeks ago filming. I noticed they still have free parking. They might be last beach in south eastern North Carolina without paid parking. Thanks for watching and have a great day my friend.👍

      @@HitchHikingYeti Last time I heard Sunset Beach was the last holdout for paid parking and I do believe they prob will go with it eventually .

      @@StephanieYoung-h9r I was just at Sunset Beach two days ago and it was $10 to park for all day. We did find free parking on the roadside but Sunset Beach was jam packed and we didn't stay! We checked out Holden and Ocean Isle beaches, spent the day at Ocean Isle and found free parking. Holden Beach looked the nicest but the parking was $20 a day I think. I'm from Virginia and I'm not used to seeing only paid parking. There are usually places to park free if you don't mind driving around and searching. It's become beaches only for the rich it seems. I don't like that.

      @@StephanieYoung-h9r We met a nice homeowner who offered to let us park in their driveway (oceanfront house too) at Holden Beach when we told them we were just there to check out the beach to see if we wanted to rent a place at Holden Beach next summer. We didn't even ask. I thought that was very friendly, but it told me there is issue at Holden Beach when it comes to parking so much so residents know about it. We didn't stay long but liked what we saw. The beach was not overly crowded like Sunset was and it looked like a nice family beach. So far as the town went I preferred Sunset Beach and my husband's sister lives there so I'm sure we will be back but people were practically on top of eachother it was so crowded and that doesn't appeal to me. We always vacationed at the OBX Hatteras island so I'm not used to crowds but we wanted to check out the more southerly beaches in NC. Next, Emerald Isles and Atlantic Beach. I'd like to retire to one of these beaches some day just have to find the right one that has condos right on the beach or affordable homes, not million dollar homes which is what I saw at Holden (very nice though!).
