This is a great piece of kit. Something I wouldn't have thought about but now you've shown it in operation it has its advantages. I think a 360 fast moving shot turning mixed into a super slow mo at a complete different angle done seamlessly would look cool! Happy Birthday also, have a good one

I hope its just the youtube compression making a mess of it though, cuz wow is it really broken up on my video. Thats my issue about 360 cams, that even though they say they shoot at like 5K or something, that is 5k stretched across 360 degrees! So you're not gonna have a sharp image once you re-compose the shot for a normal flat display.

This thing is pretty cool. I'd love to use it to generate video HDRIs (edit: equirectangular video, which is not technically an HDRI) for reflection maps when the trees are moving. The clone trail is cool even if you could do that with a regular camera, tripod, and compositing software.

Yes - can't think of any better way to test its ability to go down to 10 meters and how it perform underwater than to dump it into a few centimeters of water and film it with another camera. Oh...wait....test it while diving? Oh no - that would be UNHEARD!!! This IS literally the best way.

So basically there is no updates done the camera even after 3 years of last released X. Only two reasons to buy this would be the screen and it’s being waterproof thing.
If someone already has a X like me, it won’t make sense to upgrade unless you need that screen.
bit rate is much higher = better quality image. Plus larger battery (almost 2x). Plus new options and single lens use. But yeah, tell me how it's the same...
I mean, the camera sensor was slightly updated with HDR recordings. what that is worth I don't know.
But I think the value comes in with stuff like waterproofing, bigger battery, directional microphones (there are 4 now), the screen that can show picture being take (amongst others).
But yeah, as a X owner myself, I likely wont upgrade this any time soon, even though that waterproofing is a clutch feature
Indeed. if I got the money, why wouldn't I just get One R instead? It has a screen, it's waterproof, it's about the same price, and it has so much more to give.

Love the fact they made it waterproof, having the original OneX I was wondering if I should get another action cam that is more robust and sturdy around water and grime or go cheap on a dive case, but the dive case wouldn’t allow a “full” 360 degree capture as the base of the case shows up... so looks like I might be saving some $$ and trading up! Loved the footage! 😎 and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳
