    The bonuses and design of Bohemians ties really well to our history, especially to the hussite wars. Jan Hus got really sick of the catholic church being a political and economical power instead of bringing people to God and that is nicely reflected in the Hussite Reforms tech where the common folks started they own church and separated from the corrupt and wealthy catholics - that's why the gold cost of monks is converted to food!

    I remember that spirit mentioned he wouldn't cover economy anymore since it's a aspect covered for by the other segments. That said, I do end up curious where they'd rank to other civs with a, at least on cursory glance similar slow powerful defensive siege based playstyle like the byzantines and Teutons.
    Facing those guys in a team with a Spanish ally for a gold bonus is a scary prospect, forcing anyone to rush them before the frighteningly efficient trade route that costs less, is produced faster and gives more is established and the many defenses are set up. On the late game, it would be a slow death by an endless rain of siege behind layers of walls and castles...

    Thanks for the content, it is always a pleasure to watch your videos! One thing that made me think is whether the Bohemian team bonus really puts you 2500 gold ahead of other civs. This sounds way too much given that other civs can always counteract the Bohemian bonus by building more markets to keep the same rate of production. So the bonus could be framed as Bohemians need ~45% fewer markets to pump trade carts, which could be a saving of around 500 wood. Putting it this way sounds way less impressive in my opinion, especially in the late stages of the game.

    Something about the Wagenburg Tactics tech giving more movement speed to wagons and cannons really amuses me. Like I’m just imagining wagons zooming around like it’s GTA V, casually mowing down hapless villagers in the vicinity.

    Ngl, I don’t even really play this game. For whatever reason though, I just like watching and listening to your videos. The music + your voice + you getting into the details of the game just makes for a really soothing, relaxing experience.

      There's not much going for their siege in castle age.

    • @rubywest5166
      @rubywest5166 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They sort of swap Siege Ram and Siege Onager for Hussite Wagon (Anti Archer) and Houfnice (Anti stacked units), so arguably they're simply a very good siege civ with faster cannons, when the *very* top siege civs have something even better (more HP+attack speed + build speed Celts, *significantly* faster Mongols, Everything + improved AoE Ethiopians)...
      I would say it's much more of an A than A- though

    • @derPandre
      @derPandre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I think you guys are right. Maybe I am to endgame-focused in my personal judgement. The thing is just, like I said, that I see them steamrole sooo many times in teamgames or arenagames. Often, as soon as you see the houfnice, it is over. Just too hard to counter with that damn high range&speed stacked with the very strong counterplay-options against cav of the civ.
      But yeah, there are open maps and short games as well, so you made good and valid points.

    So when I checked the stats of Hussite wagons, they apparently have Hussite Wagon armor class which Mangonel and Bombard Cannons have bonus against with the same amount of their base attack. This makes me think that is only for interraction of attack ground units with blast radius so it doesn't gets halved by hussite wagon special ability, but interestingly trebuchet doesn't have this attack bonus despite potentially getting blast radius tech from warwolf. I theorized if you directly right click attack them with mangonel/bombard cannon, you will get double damage due to this bizzare interraction.

    • @azh698
      @azh698 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of it this way: the projectiles of mangonels and bombard cannons follow an arc, so they go over the wagons, while arrows, bolts and bullets fly straight at and through the wagons, losing energy or stopping entirely.

    Also, Houfnice might be the originaly name of Shoenice. I'm gonna leave that here.

    Lol, I noted that the Bohemian monastery in this video looks actually like old churches in central Ukraine. I saw 100% similar buildings in town of Chernihiv and in Kyiv region. This style of architecture was popular at the times of Kievan Rus during the 10 -13 centuries A.D. Historian Said that the prototype for them was a great church of St. Sophia in Constantinople.
