The song was produced by (G)I-DLE's Minnie and Flow Blow (Energetic, Shine, Pick Me), it is Minnie's first production, she started learning midi around summer last year. The song isnt really a pre-release, it was just released in conjunction with the ending of their reality show which ended earlier this week.

It feels incredible to follow a group who's music is quintessentially their OWN music in the KPop industry. They are truly outliers and we've now been shown that both Soyeon and Minnie can help deliver us amazing songs while still keeping to their individual styles of music.
Soyeon has writing and producing credits on every single song on their upcoming album, as well as arranging credits on several of them. She's definitely a driving force in the writing/production - she writes the lyrics exclusively and clearly shapes the music itself to how she wants in order to suit the lyrics. She also has a sizeable role in choreographing the dances and live performances. She's incredibly talented and Cube have an amazing talent in her. I hope she, along with the success of other partially self-producing groups like BTS, Seventeen, Pentagon and EXID continues to allow idols themselves to flourish as writers/producers. As sad as it might sound, it would add a lot of 'credibility' for Kpop to the West and the uninitiated; such a common criticism of Kpop (and a lot of pop music in general) is that it's manufactured and the artists don't have any involvement in the music and consequently lack talent/the music lacks artistry. So people like Soyeon are at the forefront of the process of changing that. Stan (G)-IDLE, stan talent.
Have to give Cube credit for just letting (G) I-dle have their way with the music. Don't think that would have happened without the success of Latata and then Hann. More support to Kpop artists who are creating their own stuff. Maybe we will see more of this type of creativity within the genre.

I'm still early in the process; I know a few hundred words (and I only have grammar commensurate with that, so even phrases that use basic words I know frequently use particles or conjugations that I haven't learned), which isn't enough to say or understand anything interesting, but I can sound out 한글, because it's a good phonetic alphabet. I was never sure how I was supposed to pronounce the G in (G)I-DLE, so I just started (여자)아이들.

However, everyone who sees the name for the first time always says "g-idle" and the members themselves have pronounced it "g-idle" on many occasions. I believe Soyeon once said you could pronounce the "G" or not and that it doesn't really matter, but I can't remember what interview that was from.
