I was going to leave a post, but Juan stole my thunder... Great presentations that work VERY well with my brain's wiring. Thanks. I hope you're making money for your efforts.
The information in these videos are GOLD!!! And they are Free This is the best teacher on TH-cam hands down Thank you, I learn so much from you . Don't stop
I wasn’t ready for fretjam tutorials a few years ago. As I come back to them today, after a time of learning and playing with others of greater skill than I, it seems clear, concise, and very applicable to where I am currently in terms of skills and fretboard understanding. This is a wealth of information for those who are ready for this level of instruction.
Mate, you are by far, the most ARTICULATE music teacher I ever came across. Whilst there are many great teachers, each with their own methodology to take us all to the same destination, (sound understanding of musicology, in it's entirety). Your straight forward PRACTICAL explaining, and delivering on REAL results is very much appreciated. Your Australian friend Kain.
Respectfully This channel is way more then music theory. I know vast amounts of music theory I've even taught it, but this channel has the TEACHER . He's probably the best on youtube in my humble opinion and that's the edge, after playing professionally for over 30 years I still learn for the TEACHER. Happy music to you. Peace
Just simply amazing! I’ll probably spend weeks digesting this and weeks incorporating this lesson in my playing. You bring to my mind that theory taught like this is enabling not limiting creativity. Your suggestions to listen to and become better familiar with the actual sounds of these triads is priceless! Thank you so much!!!
I understand theory and have played for twenty years and this channel has still helped push me far beyond what I thought I was capable of. Thanks for laying out complex ideas into a digestible form. Cheers.
I’ve decided I’ll watch this once per day until I truly understand it, no matter how many years that takes. This is top tier visualization of information
Tie this in with the circle of 5th's. I memorized every permutation of it cold and memorized all of this on the neck so I knew that stone cold. Never regretted it.
Your lessons are simply the best. I really start to feel confident as an intermediate player after completing your lessons. my strumming also has so much more melody and color to it.
Unreal how much is in this 12ish minutes. Extremely useable. I will spend a couple hours with this, just returning and peeling layers of the onion. Thank you!!
You are hands down the best out there with explaining this very confusing subject and very good at getting this info into my thick skull. Thankyou so much and please, please, please never stop doing these.
This is great - I especially liked using the major triads over the minor chords. And using the G triad or E minor triad over C reminds me of Barry Harris' "6 on the 5" concept.
for the first tim e i comment on youtube from kenya. i have never seen guitar explained in this manner.clear and step by step.Am subscribing right away.
Thank you so much for uploading this. Your videos are the best instructional videos by far. You could have been a rocket scientist or a neurosurgeon, you probably are but I'm glad you're doing this on the side. You really make it all crystal clear.
I've learned so much from fretjam's videos even though I have so much still to learn. This video is still beyond my capabilities even though I understand a good deal of the theory. Like others I will continue to come back further along my guitar playing journey in the hope it all eventually sinks in. Top tip: Save Fretjam videos to one of your youtube playlists and you can just keep going back again and again to improve your understanding.
Tus vídeos son muy buenos y comprensibles, gracias a los dibujos y para los que no dominamos mucho inglés ayuda a crear ideas,no dejes de hacerlo, saludos desde España.
Boah, another great video how you can enrich you musical vocabulary tremendously. Soooooooooooooo much to see and to learn from you here! Okay, gotta go, need to practice practice practice. Thank you very very much!
I am guitar beginner I like you teached like that I like you teach slowly also theory and practice, it will make me to be fluent guitar, but needing a long time to be like you my brother
WOW! This was mind blowing! This wove the thread through so much information into a really beautiful fabric. You'd have to know the Major/Minor scale notes and chords, and the CAGED system... but, if you do...wow! what a beautiful way to meld them together. I mean... the idea of just using the 1,4,5 chords to harmonize any melody within the key/scale... just beautiful. I'm curious if you can use the 1,2,6 chords instead of the 1,4,5 chords. When this info is better cemented in my brain I'll try that. Finally... this is how I'm guessing Guthrie Trapp sees the fretboard. OK, how do I donate to fretjam... I'm going over to Patreon.
Absolutely, you can combine the major triads (1 4 5) and relative minor triads (2 3 6) in a harmonized sequence. Together they will have you covered for many, if not most playing situations. I really appreciate your support!
Please never stop making videos. Yours are hands down the best, ever. The visuals are perfect, easy to follow.

Hello from France, glad to see you yet. I learned a lot with your channel.
The last part about incorporating the 3 lower strings as your bass strings--Mind Blown.
You can tune these to accommodate whichever three chords you want as well 👍
Yeah this video really peels back the layers of where to go once some has all major and minor triad root and inversions memorized cold. Great stuff!
This is the video that everybody needs! Incredible. Ty
