As my grandfather once said "if you want to build a real working car, first build a toy car, then just make it bigger" the saying is weird in English because we are not from the states, but the same can be applied here, you made a toy sentry, if you make it bigger, it's a real sentry
The only thing is that a "real" version of this runs into legal problems due to a tendency to commit war crimes. Would probably be primarily used as an area denial weapon.
For all of you who are considering creating a similar indoor build, but fully americanized, a heads up: it's still legally a booby-trap, even if it only targets civilian airliners.
If i remember correctly there is this adafruit camera for raspberry pi that has no-code object detection/ deep learning. Its a bit more expensive than normal camera module but training the camera is like playing a toy so its easy.
I predict a future mechatronics engineer. And possibly...broken bones from a real nasty fall when you slip on one of the airsoft bbs you will inevitably miss cleaning up. Be safe! Good job!
So my question is, if you have another object that isn't moving, say a water bottle in the way, how would the sentry distinguish between the object that triggered the motion sensor and the other object sitting in its path? The rangefinder only finds objects within the area of 2 meters so it would shoot at literally anything within those 2 meters moving or not. If I were you, I would check the sensor and see if any events are fired detailing the location or at least general direction of the object which moved, and then the first function of the rangefinder would be to search that immediate area. This could also be done possibly by using multiple sensors in a circular arrangement with a narrow field of vision, whichever sensor fires first is where the sentry rotates to face first, this way you can at least target something in the general area of the detected motion and not just the wall
It does kinda look like a very simple CIWS or CRAM system, but if you wanted to use object detection, you can easily do so (in Python, I’m still somewhat learning c++) with OpenCV, cvLib, and pyfigmata (to control the arduino). I’m currently working on something similar using object detection, except I’m going to be building an RC airsoft tank. It’s a tank with aimbot (: Also, for the tank I’ll be using a raspi instead of an arduino, to run the code without a computer.
Sentry turrets are cool, but we need more manual or remote controlled concepts. Perhaps remote from PC (Mouse seems easier.) but i supposed controller would work too.
If you do want to program the software seen in his video you might want to start with the “Blob detection video - Coding Train” or try deriving a recognition software of your own. There are also built in libraries for some of this software. It is a lot of code though
Love this idea but personally would have gone with paintballs. Having played both games, I've come to the conclusion that while airsoft pellets can do more soft tissue damage than paintballs with their high psi, they hurt less on impact and therefore have less stopping power. Paintballs carry considerably more energy to target and inflict more pain, while also having a much lower chance of causing external bleeding. Airsoft pellets leave bug-bite like abrasions on the skin, while paintballs leave large bruises. Do you want the trespasser to feel like they've been bitten, or like they've been punched?
@@JC-Alan Well it's non-toxic and non-staining, so a lot easier than fixing the tiny holes airsoft pellets leave. Airsoft pellets carry almost no energy but also have so little surface area that you'd be surprised by their penetrative power. They won't get stuck in the wall but they'll chip the paint
He probably could have used rubber balls and a flywheel thing, right? Maybe the Nerf Rival rounds. About the same weight as a paintball and no paint stains. But I wonder if the paintball still hurts more because they explode on impact, right?
Made one like that for airsoft play on a drone the turret auto tracks targets when active so all I gotta do is fly. Sometimes is scary that this is also done in real life.
I’m trying to figure out how to make an automated disc shooter for my cat, I have the toy already that does it but I’d like to automate it. I think I could use the toy and components from it to spin the disc, but how would you recommend I hook up the electronics ? Any one thing I should buy to get started ?
Looks neat. You'll have a faster scanning response if instead of returning to zero position after scanning, you just start scanning from the other side. Kind of like the Cylon eye in Battlestar Galactica.
We are doing a turret atm with a neural network, that can learn what to target. We are doing it with a camera and full hd, but the raspberry only manages to do 10 fps which is to slow for fast moving targets and we also programmed lead, therefor we have to switch to computer for more power, so we can have atleast 30fps.
Bro I gotta suggestion that instead of that 2 side rotatory you could fix a 360 degree ball socket With a little adjustment in your programming it'll work pretty well So that your creepy cannon could shoot to any direction
🥺💬 That is a very nice room protector, somebody will tell you to add a camera for widescreen scanning or placing spot or long-load bullets pallet but with the same device in codes you can work with parallel moves, and multiple actions simultaneously because it does not require to working at only one action at a time but you can target multiple invades with a penalty shot. ( That is Aduino but it message event or ACK is working in C too )
I think this is more of a statement of how shitty the times are that a guy capable of building an automated sentry turret still lives with his parents.
I know that this is going to sound like a really crazy idea, but hear me out on this before you judge. If you don’t want your parents touching your stuff, maybe, just maybe, you could leave your parent’s house and go live on your own like a regular adult? Or you could mount it on the door way facing the entry so the only object would be a human
