No need if you connect all of them at once it will open as the connection will be connected to the only 2 wire if you will believe I am 12 and have everything like soldiering iron
Been geocaching for years. Nothing really like this around here, although there are some extremely clever caches. One looks like a loaf of bread sitting under a rock. :D I think I'll make one of these for myself! :) Thanks for the vid!
Fun idea and thanks for sharing. I'd suggest substituting E-6000 for hot glue, which tends to soften in the summer and get brittle and release in the winter. As others have mentioned, you'd have to take care where you put this so that it wouldn't cause undue alarm if found by non-cachers. But I sure do love a MacGyver cache like this one!
Very nice idea ! I have several questions about this type of cache ! Does this mean that your arduino is always powered ? How long you battery will be able to power your cache ?
kipkay could you make second version of this? so the lock works only if you put 2 correct wires together but if u put all wires together it does nothing
I do not know if anyone said this before, but the plastic lever from the servo looks a bit flimsy. Will it last if somebody pulls on the handle a bit harder?
Hold all ends together. Puzzle solved in less than a second. Also that double sided tape will fall off over time, especially on cold nights as it will lose stickiness in cold temps. Try it, stick 2 things together with tape and put it in the freezer for a while. They will come apart easy.
Euhm looks pretty cool and the idea is great, but you can just put all the wires together to open the box. How about making a mechanism were you got several slots on the side of the box were you can put wires, and you'll have to connect the two right slots with a wire?
I like this idea. How about making one that looks like a missile you have to diffuse before the timer counts down to 0:00? :)
***** 2014: gay is no longer an insult.
OnFew Says who? It used to mean happy.
Till someone gets scared and calls the bomb squad and then blow the geocache up lol.
:O!
OnFew gay will always be used as an insult people added it to their vocabulary years ago.
Hiding a metal box with wires coming out of it is one way to cause a bomb scare.
ThePatrick3483 BUT THEY'RE ALL ALREADY CUT!
+jcrowley1985 CUT THE BOX IN HALF!
Can you solve the mystery of this Geocache box?
Well there's only 45 combination so it's not THAT hard
you just connect all the wires and it opens...
Yay! Geocacheing! #GoGeocacheing

No need if you connect all of them at once it will open as the connection will be connected to the only 2 wire if you will believe I am 12 and have everything like soldiering iron
Need to get into Geocaching. That was awesome. Thumbs up from us!
Quick its my chance! Darude - Sandstorm!!!!!
That is super awesome. I would love to geocache for that one.
Geocaching is as fun as finding dirty magazines in the woods.
Hi
That's gives me an idea for a geocache
Lol :)
Um what entertainment do you get from dirty magazines in the woods? Hah *:D*
Lenny Laggan Ah, you're a real buddy, man!
It will unlock if they touch all of the wires together as well
Tehkezah
The Arduino board relocks after 5 mins if there's power. I'm not sure if its on a loop or a one off sequence though
+s28400 I thought the same thing...
That is my comments To hi five
If we connect all the wires it will open
Excelente Proyecto. Lo felicito
Saludos.
Cool! I had no idea what a geocache was until I did some research, very cool concept. Great vid!
Do any of you Geocache? You can chek out my caches at www.geocaching.com Kipkay! Thanks for watching!
I geocache I cached 357 caches
Chek
Kipkay and geocaching! My two favorite things! Love this video, you should do more geocaching videos!
GC code?
I've never done geocaching before but it sounds like some fun!
Cool project
Great look and design, but I don't know if temperature fluctuations will cause the hot glue to let go? E600 or some kind of epoxy might be better.
This is one of the few good things Kip has made in years! Cool idea.
Love it! I have big plans of my own to make a geocache similar!
Pulling on the lid would probably break the arm of the servo
I love to geocache. I'd love to find a puzzle box like this. Cool idea! And I love the ingenuity of your channel. Keep it up!
Finally, i feel that he is getting back to his real nice projects again. Keep up the good work man!
Wait, Kipkay, you are geocacher too?
Yes I am! Check out my caches at bit.ly/KipkayGeocaches
Your profile pic matches with your comment.
+kipkay Do you live in Florida? All of your caches are in FL...
Or he just made something for his fans /super fans
What would prevent you from connecting all of the wires together?
Now this is some, "back to the roots" kipkay! very happy
Ok, the cottage life channel is pretty cool being that i also live in the middle of the woods, but you just can't beat KipKay.
best kipkay project so far!
This was awesome! I just started getting into Geocaching!!
as a fellow geocacher i love this!! good camo paint job to hide from the muggles as well
My family just got into Geocaching and found our first one last weekend. Thanks for another awesome video!
Best video in a long time Kip.
But, couldn't you just force the lock open with your hands since it's made of plastic?
Thats called being an ass of a geocatcher
The actual locked box is metal, the plastic is just to weatherproof it.
Edit: I realize he was talking about the actual arm of the servo motor.
Sage Moore but he's saying just snap the plastic arm off the servo motor by grabbing the lid
Sage Moore First of all, loose*. Secondly, I was just playing around. In all seriousness the plastic he was referring to was the locking mechanism.
ChazayPwns Yeah I realize that now. Check out my older comment
Your videos are so good id pay for extra episodes
Very cool idea Kipkay !
Hey there bro just wanted to say I have been watching ur channel for years and everything you do is amazing keep up the good work
Zee
Aw man I love geocaching! This is really cool! 😃
Brilliant! I use arduino and have done geocache before and found this a great idea and very well put together. Great job keep up the good work
This is pretty badass
kipkay your videos are great its easy to understand and the video itself is also good explained thx
Geocaching is awesome!
Been geocaching for years. Nothing really like this around here, although there are some extremely clever caches. One looks like a loaf of bread sitting under a rock. :D I think I'll make one of these for myself! :)
Thanks for the vid!
Wouldn't it open if I just touch every single wire together? Awesome idea, btw =)
Kipkay finnaly did a geocache video!
You go geocaching! I didn't know that! Geocaching is my life!
1:25. That cat is soooo cute!
That's actually pretty badass Kipkay
Very very cool! A great gift for my GeoCaching parents!!
Wow... You can like simply connect all the wires together and you win... GG kipkay!!!
Awesome cool stuff on this channel PLUS you geocache! Subscribing
This is a really good idea!
That's really really cool!
01:10 wire you doing that?
+Fallout Illuminati 10/10 m90
aSleepyDinosaur gg fam 420 noskopezzzz
Fallout Illuminati you noscoped that pun m90 join OpTiC FaZe
kipkay I didn't know you geocached!
1:27 So that's where those things are for...
Something interesting and do-able. Haven't seen this kipkay in a while.
Couldn't you just squash all of the ends of the wire together and it'll open?
Another awesome video
This is so cool because we were just talking about geocaching today in scamp
thats really cool
I love geocaching to i do it also!!! this project is very cool were i can buy the stuff for it?
Thats so cool kip your cool
Awesome idea!
Almost 2million subs good luck!
Your local bomb squad does not approve of that geocache! LOL
Have you hidden this one? If so, whats the GC code? I want to see it in person, looks awesome!
2:30: 'Now, we need some swag'?
Kipkay, this really worked!! Thank you!! Please reply! I do a lot of your projects!!
already subbed to cottage life!! :)
What is the cache code for this one? If i ever have a reason to go to FL i might try and find it!
Would be cool to see metal switches all around the box and you have to switch the right two switches up/on to open it.
Very nice idea !
I have several questions about this type of cache !
Does this mean that your arduino is always powered ?
How long you battery will be able to power your cache ?
realy awesome i do geochaing myself and this would be a sweet one to find.
Kipkay kits are sent worldwide ? Or only US ? I'm from Europe, Romania actully and I want to buy the monthly kit.
THX kipkay A laearn lot from you videos
My daughter could open that box, lol, but it's always a pleasure watching these ideas go from paper to practice....(Thumbs up) :o)
Sweet god job Kip Kay!!:-)
Yes!! Geocaching is Awsome!,
Wow! How old are Tux & Domino?
is there any detailed instructions, what to get or diy kit on this? I really wanna make it but have no idea what to do.. :(
Interesting idea to create a fun party for the kids. Draw a treasure map and hide tips. ))
Kipkay u rock !!
Great idea!
kipkay could you make second version of this? so the lock works only if you put 2 correct wires together but if u put all wires together it does nothing
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing holding the box shut is a small plastic arm? That seems really easy to break!
Love the hacks
I do not know if anyone said this before, but the plastic lever from the servo looks a bit flimsy. Will it last if somebody pulls on the handle a bit harder?
A notebook with a puppy on it is da real swag
nice job but i have to ask. want it unlock when all wires touch together?
Gators colors Kipkay? :)
Thanks I'm going to start geocaching too now
How sturdy is the motor latch? It seems like someone could just yank the lid off if they really wanted to.
Is this suppose to be an actual safe or secure thing? I get you have to go through the wires... but that seems pretty easy.
I really love your vids so I subscribe
Maybe make a stronger one? It would not take much to pry it open with your hands
Hold all ends together. Puzzle solved in less than a second. Also that double sided tape will fall off over time, especially on cold nights as it will lose stickiness in cold temps. Try it, stick 2 things together with tape and put it in the freezer for a while. They will come apart easy.

So cool just amazing
awesome, the one that can open it is a genuis
hurra for geochaches
Wow that is just too cool :)
Hey. I got a question. When will you do another give-away?
Hide it in a Primary school!
Wount the lock open if u hold all the wires together?
Went to the site to see about the Kipdurino, but it wasn't on your site. Where can I get one?
