Baba Siddique Murder | We Got Two Pistols and 28 Rounds From The Accused: Mumbai Police

Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, was killed after being shot by three individuals in Bandra East, Mumbai, on Saturday evening.
The 66-year-old politician was shot in the chest after which he was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The leader had received a death threat just 15 days ago and was under ‘Y’ category security.
The Mumbai Police, in a statement, confirmed that the firing took place outside the office of his MLA son, Zeeshan Siddique, near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar. Two to three rounds were fired.
Meanwhile, the police have formed around 10 teams to investigate this case. Sources within the Mumbai police stated that they will also examine Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang involvement as part of the inquiry. A 9.9 mm pistol was used in the shooting, suggesting a contract killing, according to a source.
One police constable was guarding former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique when he was fatally shot the day before, a Mumbai Police officer said on Sunday, adding that two pistols and 28 live cartridges were recovered from the two accused.
Police are also verifying a social media post in which an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken up the responsibility for the murder of the NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader.
The 66-year-old NCP leader was waylaid by three persons at Kher Nagar in Mumbai’s Bandra area just outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office and shot at on Saturday night. He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he was declared dead.
“Police have set up 15 teams which are fanned out of Maharashtra and investigation is on to identify who provided logistical support to the shooters. Two pistols and 28 live rounds were recovered from the accused,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime branch) Datta Nalawade.
