  • The engine is finally apart. The rattle was from the primary chain which has stretched to the point where it was rubbing on the oil nozzle. New parts to be ordered and next step is to give this engine a really good clean.

    hey mate! howd you take the rotor off so easily at 00:35? i cant seem to take it off without it spinning. they dont see the holder tools anymore

      Just like the video shows, i used an impact driver. Without that it will probably turn as you say....The primary chain should stop it turning

    Breaking my 650 down from the bottom.
    Just can not shift the cylinder head one bit. And my fins are ALL good so Im not whacking.

      Hi mate, yep it can be tight. Junk seems to get in between the head bolts and the hole. Try some WD40 or light heat. Patience will get you there.

      @@clickireland1113 OK, is the head itself stuck or the barrel? if its the head, have you removed all the nuts around the base of the head? One of the engines I had was very tight too, ending up using a hammer but only because it was a barrel from the 650 that I wasn't going to use.

    Nice job.
    Q: The little notches on the gear cogs (present on 5th and the gear cog next to it) : I see them same kinda notches on the same cogs in your engine in this video.
    This fork wear?
    And should I replace the cogs because of the wee notches?

      Hi Mate, No they are fine. I think that are made that way to aid lubrication. Check pics online as they all have them. One of my engines was low miles and it was the one in the video. These transmissions are bullet proof. I checked my manual but can't see a clear pic of the notches to check its like that from new...

    So the xj750 head will straight swap over to an xj650 without any modifications, my 650 head has numerous broke or screwed up intake bolt holes so Im thinking just pickin up a 750 head and swappin over my 650 pieces, cams etc.

      Hi mate, well it did on mine. I don't know if particular XJ650 and XJ750 years don't differ in some way. You will need to have matching barrels for either YICS or non YICS though

    • @Mezzmoengineering
      @Mezzmoengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chad, from memory there is a thread in the end of the rotor. I think it might be 15 or 16mm. You screw it in and it will bottom inside the shaft. Put some tension on it and tap with hammer and it should come off.
