    You might consider the Barkbuster Blizzard hand guards for the wetter months. They are perfect for these rainy days without being a full size ugly muff. They’ll keep 90% of the rain off your gloves. That was a close call getting your gloves back. 😮

    Very interesting, your first map showed a route through Giessen. I was stationed very close there just outside of Butzbach. Some of the scenery on the roads and towns brought back memories from 1971-1973 for me! I really need to go back and visit soon.

    Channel tunnel: first time I've seen the inside of the train where the bikes go. Back in the mid-'90s in heavy rain, I rode from Calais to somewhere in the middle of France wearing a leather jacket/pants combo with no waterproofs. Never again. Glad you got the gloves back. SW-Motech is a big place.
    I do like a good road video. Slugging across eastern Germany sounds just fine to me.

    Ghent is a fabulous city (with the Van Eyck altarpiece - YAH!). Far more congenial than Bruges, which is very, very touristy. Still, the beer is great in both. SW Motech looked great. I'm snappy and bad tempered at work....... sometimes. If I worked there, even as a robot box maker, I would be much happier. Doing billet brake pedals, oh yah! Thank you for the wet vid. It can't have been much fun initially. A bit weird that the only vlog time spent on food was the doughnut, or whatever, outside the bakery. Bars, pubs, restaurants always give an idea of a place. Like Hammer films in Transylvania.

      It is a lovely place for sure, shme i didnt have time to visit. That was the story for th first few days to be honest, I didnt actually eat much more than the odd petrol station garage. Not much point in searching out a cafe or resturant when sopping wet lol

      Surprised your modern gear leaked! I have a 10 year old Rukka Armas goretex suit, Daytona gtx boots and Rukka Apollo gloves. None of them leak water, even in torrential rain. The only caveat is you must fit the detachable storm collar or rain will seep in through the neck.

    Well done for sticking it out in those horrible conditions, riding in the wet isn't too bad if the gear does its job and keeps you warm and dry. But as soon as the gear fails, it is pretty miserable being wet and cold on a bike. On the plus side you weren't camping so could dry some of the equipment overnight :) Can't wait for the post-tour reviews of the gear you took and how it let you down 🤣

    Got loads of SW Motech stuff over the years. Didn’t realise they made everything on site…it’s really well made. It’s such a shame since Brexit it’s not economical to buy from Germany anymore. The uk supplier never has any stock of anything…stuff direct from Germany used to arrive in a couple of days.
    Before I bought a bike I always used to check what bits from SW Motech were available👍

    Enjoyed the film Tony, I love the channel tunnel to, always gives me a buzz when i ride off and get away. Felt your pain around Antwerp, visited the Harz a few times and thats always the most painful bit of the trip. SW Motech, a robot to fold the boxes, love it. Interested in the proshade system, maybe a little review in the future please.

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it, yep that bit was the worst of the whole trip, but it needed to be done on that day just to get the miles covered. I think the proshade system works well, and the intention is to do a little review style video at some point

    It was interesting to hear your thoughts on the
    non- waterproof waterproofs.
    I've learnt over the years that Goretex is the only reliable waterproofing.
    If it leaks bin it.

    • @mancavemoto
