Wife and I keep the Viking trade tradition going here with our shop, Stonegaard Forge. I make blades and other forged goods, and she makes hand-made jewelry. We travel around the Carolinas selling our wares at markets. Also I got the album and rock out in my workshop.

Thanks Jjohan Hegg for lifting our spirits with your inspirational music it is because of your bravery and your voice we do not remain silenced or unsung. Also I refuse to betray your friends or family that I am not in favour of the false portrayal of Rollo that does no such justice for my defeated displaced ancestors who realistically refused to betray their own and tragically failed to avenge their own that they fled from religious persecution after suffering a peace violation according to the indigenous sources and the oath rings that state our refusal to betray our own and our sacred ancient Mjolnir goat wand hammer amulet that states we like Thor's goat's are peaceful territorial defenders that rebel against invaders that threatened to destroy our sacred Mjolnir charm to turn it into a Crucifix.
It is really interesting to know that they sailed as far as possibly towards Mexico/Mexican Gulf. Also, of course skulls make horrible goblets; the brain chamber has many holes and pathways, like the orbits of the eyes where optic nerves and stuff reside, or where the brain stem connects to the spinal cord at the base, so you're constantly spilling everywhere. Plus, what if it makes the drink taste terrible and you get an infection for even trying because sanitization was yet to be truly pioneered even then?
1. Love the new CD! 2. Thanks for sharing some Viking facts with everyone. 3. Facts one through nine I totally agree with, however, I have not seen anything showing that nordic explorers/Vikings made it to Mexico. Perhaps my knowledge is lacking on that point.
I think it's more of an educated extrapolation because it's highly unlikely that Vikings arrived in Vinland (Newfoundland, Canada) and stopped being Vikings lol. They would have followed the coast (and there is evidence as far south as Maine, USA that this is the case).
@@rydersonthestorm7175 I definitly think that norse explorers travelled further south than Newfoundland. The sagas speak of them finding wild grapes (Vineland). No wild grapes in Newfoundland, but there are some in New York.
I belive in that context "law" mean "reign" or "rule", not refering to a formalized judicial system. But that do not disprove that the Vikings actually had a formalized judicial system.
Not every skandinavian was viking of course I'd agree to that. But every skandinavian including other common Germanic tribe before Christianity reached them, were pagan, most likely a branch of norse paganism because they had different names of their main Gods like wotan, Woden, etc
There are written accounts of Anglo-Saxons being concerned about coexistence with England-settled Vikings because they compromised the "chastity of their women" due to their beautiful, groomed long hair lol.
the whole warlike culture in the viking society is mainly because odin made us to fight for him in ragnarok in return he would give us valhalla when we died bravely either in general or on the battlefield but we did need blacksmiths, farmers, cooks, traders, clothesweavers, craftsman, ect
Exactly. No different than any other culture with warriors. Funny how "these savages" spreads faster than "these people who are protected by warriors".
Wait i thought that the Summerians had the first written laws.. guess i was wrong for a long time xD Also i love that Nergal was there goofing behind that stand xD
@@Ganymede559 I am not sure about that, but i am probably wrong. Cause if i am not mistaken the sumerrians wrote the first law about 6000 years ago, at least that is what i got from history books.

Alot of people had myths that Vikings were these super buff, steroid pumped men with giant axes they'd swing to and fro killing their enemies. That isn't true either. Like Johan said they were farmers. So these men were scrawny. They didn't have much muscle. In some pictures if you see these Vikings they looked as if they were starving. Which could likely be true as to why they'd be raiding. I mean a man has to eat. They plundered not just for currency and trade but also to fill their bellies
Actually it was so common to go viking that the king had to forbid it at one point. Our scandinavian culture was a warculture. That's a fact. Everyone was a warrior. But as he said, like for most people in Europe, farming and hunting was very important, how would you else survive? I do think they left the farming partly to slaves tho.

Imagine being at school class and Johan Hegg was your history teacher😂😂
Id probably fall over because hes actually telling the truth.
He certainly is. I dont think he said a word here was untrue.
Dude I would be paying attention more often.
one of our teachers at my school listens to Amon Amarth, unfortunately, he's an english teacher, but he's a very nice guy
that would be awesome
I really like your last point answer about who found America first, really well said.

I can't wait to see Amon Amarth on tour. That lineup is ridiculous.
Awesome. Some I knew, some I didn't. The last question is still something we have to educate people on, sadly.
Very well informed video on Vikings Johan!

Vikings did travel the world. We know that because some of the artifacts they brought back home.
And for the law question.
The area in england where york is, was called "dane law".
I belive in that context "law" mean "reign" or "rule", not refering to a formalized judicial system. But that do not disprove that the Vikings actually had a formalized judicial system.
And York was then called Jorvik.
