Confidence is key!!! I feel like just imagining that ur opponents are half asleep even if they aren’t can give a huge mental advantage. A lot of players including myself sometimes don’t force certain challenges out of respect for the opponents possibly hitting a crazy shot. Not giving opponents time to set anything up and keeping offensive pressure is great advice cbell!!
yeah first man should challenge either way that’s a big problem i run into i’ll be behind my teammate and he’ll just give them as much space as there is from earth to mars instead of just forcing them to make a worst play and giving me a free ball and leave me in a pre jump make one of the best save of my life situation
Its worth noting, A lot of times when the game feels easy and like you've discovered some type of "hack" or successful way of playing. It tends to be during our peaks, which may not be mechanical peaks. We can have ups and downs with our game sense as well. For me, my ups are way up. and my downs are horrible. My volatility is insane depending on mood and anxiety levels. I've had many times over the last 5 years where I'm just confused on how I've been so bad (always when im peaking hardcore) And when I'm really bad, I can't break out of it. Its not just hesitation or missed challenge timings. It's something fundamentally changed in my brain, my way of thinking was altered by something else and suddenly im an inconsistent mess. This is rocket league.
Same, just goes to show how robotic you have to be in order to find success in highly competitive games. Basically have to be in flow state nonstop with a very high level baseline of emotions and confidence that never changes lol @@johnlepe5580
i feel that so hard, on the high highs and low lows. my lowest point is around gold, my peak is somewhere in diamond. it evens out at plat. just gotta get good enough that the lows aren't as low
When UP i hit multiple resets in backboard redirects When DOWN i can't even get a simple reset When UP i got that gorillaglue airdribble When DOWN i cannot do a simple 3touch airdribble when my life depends on it
I mean at least at c3-gc1 this is a good strategy, cause people dont pay attention and just pass the ball to you most of the time. but yeah, at higher ranks this is not gonna work this well
It is though, with everyone hitting reset musty psychos and quintuple resets, just forcing them off the ball when they do that gives them no choice but to shoot early. If your tm is even remotely awake they will see that and have an easier save
Good advice. It's one element of the Flakes 2v2 series which is still how I hit GC in 2s and 3s this season. Step one is don't over commit, step two is learn how to take advantage of the other team over committing, which they will do frequently. I don't know if it's an attention deficit as much as it is just not understanding the game but either way it works so.
So happy you posted this. What youre describing has been my playstyle for like a year now and im currently a champ 2 who can barely arial. Being able to force a flick or a challenge to give your teammate space is THE most underrated skill in this game.
I also noticed that fewer players in high champ/GC seem to force shots. I used to go for GC in 3s, but since last season it feels tougher to me and part of it is that ppl rather try to out-mechanic than just force a simple shot, more ballside than backpost rotations and not rotating out at all leaving me puzzled in the back.
I got out from the hospital after a surgery in January with half working left hand and fingers barely moving, not having played RL for 2 months. Went from C2 to GC1 in a streak doing exactly the same thing. Can confirm this is the meta :))
I went from low gc1 to high gc2 in about 3 hours of play time just by basically ball chasing and forcing the opponent into awkward positions. Then I tried the same strategy on an alt that started at middle of c3 and I literally could not get out of champ. You basically just have to adapt to the opponent depending on how they play. Also, if you’re trying to get gc in 3s, it’s just not gonna happen.
This might sound silly CBELL but that's EXACTLY what i noticed when i was struggling in C3. Just Yesterday i got back to GC focusing on JUST paying attention. It's crazy we had the same idea.
I’m gc3 while playing like this, peaking at ssl for a few games. I noticed around a year ago that no matter what rank everyone is they always panic when they get the ball. If you force them to give it away it’s always a free ball for your teammate. Whenever I try to play ultra fast like these 14yo prodigies I sit at high 1500 low 1600.
This is all useful information that I learned from watching Flakes several years ago and it can be very effective. Shadow defending with fake challenges , patience , decision making, and boost management are all great skills to focus on and can help you rank up quickly if executed well. If you do anything, shadow defending with fake challenges as last man can help buy your teammate time to recover and a lot of times the opponents will panic and give away the ball.
fyi theres also rank inflation, like now is the best time to get GC because a lot of people have climbed through the ranks and into much higher MMR, whereas every GC and above starts the season around 1550 or whatever it is and it's a bloodbath
Stupid really. Especially in 3s. As I literally down ranked from c3 to c2, to c1 people just kept playing better. It didn't make sense. In c3 everyone was asleep. In low c2, my last match, they were sweatin. One of my teammates even did the Zen signature shot.
I'm a GC that doesn't pay attention, and I feel attacked 😂 I got to GC in 2018, and I since then me and my friends have lost the motivation to try. We play ranked like it's casual basically. So when we're screwing around we fall down as far as champ 1. People get angry because we do stupid things but still win, but we're just having fun😅
I'm gold/plat but yeah mostly just playing for fun. I have days where training or ranking up is what's fun, but usually i just go in and have a blast in comp, go for mechs i can barely do, do weird shit, hunt demos, whatever. Sometimes the weird stuff is actually so good though.
I just hit gc for the first time and when I saw this video my heart dropped cause I thought rocket league made easier but they didn’t. Looking back at my gameplay (I recorded) I saw I played really well and deserved it.

i have been grand champ for literally 6 years. never ssl but never lower than gc... if you find that one awake tm8 just play till you lose with them and that helps a lot
It's funny I started figuring this out today. I'm normally 3rd man because my teammates rush up so I'm in a lot of 2v1s and I just took my time a lot more and forced them which worked out well as long as I could avoid the demos.
I like the tip about letting teammates who ball chase, ball chase. Just adapt to your teammates and try to be the best teammate possible. I’m not very mechanical and I’m gc2 after 600 hours
Hey cbell great vid something I wanted to ask you I have been playing rocket league for 5 years and I can’t get higher than plat three and low diamond any tips to help me get better

finally cbell, I might get competent ranked teammates. it's so annoying trying to play this and the teammate is NEVER ready for a force, no matter how long you delay it to try and have them ready.
Honestly if people just played more ones they'd realise the importance of maintaining pressure and positioning despite boost deficit. It is SO dangerous to suddenly and without warning abandon the ball as first man, it creates a no man's land and you end up having to either go all in or try and fake and bait from 50m away. Stay in the play people!
after crying about being put down to diamond 1 at start of the season im now back to diamond 3 and i even went to champ for a few matches lol. The start of the season is just annoying

1 mate force while 1 positions to read what is happening is my prefered playstyle, but what happens to me is, i force and my teamate dives while i am forcing, then the ball slowly rolls into my net.
The best advice I could give anyone, and what worked for me. Is to play some 1's before you queue up for 2's. Then treat your 2's games like a series of 1v1's. Unless you know for a fact that your teammate is there to cover for you, then assume that you're in a 1v1 and if you overcommit you're scored on. Helped me climb back almost to 1500, and I'm not even a good 1's player.
Also if you're second man leave more space than you think you should and I promise you it will be better than trying to play close because you don't want to "miss an opportunity." You always want to leave space for the play to develop so you can react accordingly.
This is exactly the video I needed. Coincidentally I am around 1350-1400mmr and I can’t help but wonder how easy this rank is if I look at the way this guy plays 😮
I can't help but feel like this video is just CBell desperately trying to get more people to position somewhat sensibly to make his Ranked experiences a little better lol.
this is a great video, thanks, it’s what I always try to tell people that say my mechanics are bad because i can’t musty or flip reset… you dont need that stuff in champ if you just play smart and are good at defense champ is basically just faster diamond, lol

I have about 70 hours so far and id say im somewhat mechanical and im learning everyday. I watch your videos almost everyday and they motivate me to get on rocket league and practice more. I have a friend that is in champ and is stuck in champ hes always wanted grand champ but fails to reach it every season. He's pretty good just needs coaching of his own as well. If it was possible to coach either one of us that would be the most amazing opportunity i think ive ever come across. Please read this and if you do thank you. (reply "cheese" if you did!!)
@ayaanrahim6276100%
@ayaanrahim6276 I’m determined man, I can alr Ariel somewhat decent, I’m basically diamond just don’t have the title to say so. I’ve played for 2.5 weeks. I play multiple hours a day everyday and I think I can do it, if I can’t, it’s not the end of the world. If I do, ig from your point of view I’m the best player to touch the game, brings me more motivation to do it😈I’ll see you next season!!
@@2GFourkaybe sure to take care of yourself. Video game addiction is real. Don't neglect your relationships. Be sure to take breaks and work out. Look up wrist exercises to help prevent carpel tunnel. Remember to eat. Take a break when you get tilted.
@@reed6514 I don’t have any relationships lol, with anyone, I’ve been alone for years now gaming is basically all I have besides work and the gym. So I play it as much as I feel like it and honestly I don’t play that much that’s why I only have 70 hours in 2.5 weeks
@@reed6514 thank you tho
Very entertaining video, had me laughing. Thanks for another great video!
6:23 was top shelf bamboozling!
Settings video? I like the camera settings you have right now
I played RL with about 120-140 ping on good days so I am very familiar with the ball seemingly phasing through my car.
Once u hit champ people become plat
I've been hard stuck c1 and seeing quite a few smurfs is annoying too, i feel like im getting better and can hopefully get c2-3 next season
I actually did this and i went from Champ 1 Div 2 to Champ 2 Div 4, thanks haha
Yeah I got m'y rewards and now lost it so I'm now C3. But will I still get m'y s13 gc title even after not being gc at the end?
If you have the reward level you get the title, your current rank is irrelevant.
@@thosko98Ok alr ty dude.
@@JeJeYTShorts imagin hes trollin xd
If he does I'll be sad. But If a GC answer bc it happened to him, it would be easier to beleive I think.
@@JeJeYTShortsNah he's not trolling, if you secured your 10 wins you're fine
Bro literally yesterday I got GC for the first time and then this comes up, and I've been struggling for so long stuck at C3 div 3 and 4😂
1 mate force while 1 positions to read what is happening is my prefered playstyle, but what happens to me is, i force and my teamate dives while i am forcing, then the ball slowly rolls into my net.
Thank you for not giving up on Rocket League ❤
After this vid I want from 1320 mmr to 1394. Thank you so much cbell!
This is exactly the video I needed. Coincidentally I am around 1350-1400mmr and I can’t help but wonder how easy this rank is if I look at the way this guy plays 😮
Aight cbell im gonna get that champ i lost like 2 seasons ago back tonight thanks man
Is that a bakkes mod plug in at the top or is that like just edited in later (the mmr tracker)
I feel like CBell juat discovered playing RL at mid-day
I can't help but feel like this video is just CBell desperately trying to get more people to position somewhat sensibly to make his Ranked experiences a little better lol.
When are you doing another video on emmies road to grand champ?
this is a great video, thanks, it’s what I always try to tell people that say my mechanics are bad because i can’t musty or flip reset… you dont need that stuff in champ if you just play smart and are good at defense
champ is basically just faster diamond, lol
