I have no idea why the ravemon player raised out of breading so early in game one. And then made things worse by committing to digivolve it even more.
I think it’s just week 1 of playing the deck against another new deck, definitely the wrong move but hindsight is 20/20 🤷♂️
Still seems like a hard matchup to me but am I just misinformed?
@@TheSqueakyMoose yeah the match up is going to be torturous. I think the only way to win is to build up your stack first and get that ravemon out ASAP and swing the one check and delete itself. Then while you're building your second one in raising you need to dig for your celestial blade option cards and hope when he brings out the giaomon it doesn't have any protection.
Celestial blade is a really good card for this deck imo. It's 4 to play, you get off all of your deletion effects, you get to play your ravemon back at the end of your opponents turn and if you have a Keenan, an analog boy, and your egg, you can play it for a cost of 1 memory. And the longer the game goes the you might play it and end up gaining memory instead.
@@TheSqueakyMoose honestly the more I think about it, with blockers starting to creep back up into the meta it might not be a bad idea to run a copy or two of high-speed plug-in D in order to get around them because 11k dp is pretty ass. 🗑️

Definitely keen to try it myself and I worry what people will be able to do with it once burst mode is out 😨

Yeah that’s the be that hurt him since it’s a purple deck the trashed cards might have come into play. Just a bit of an oppsie 😅
I don't think the ravemon player activated the on-deletion inheritables once despite being deleted by something other than battle. Ravemon is actually a stupid easy matchup against omnialter because the vast majority of deletion by omni deck is via effect meaning the ravemon player could've continuously been trashing cards from the omni player's hand potentially messing up the combo plays they had in hand. Really sad to see Ravemon just giving up the win.
If you hate playing against Alter -S. Try running D-Reaper. It’s a hilarious matchup when all you do is choke your opponent at one with D-Reaper. Though I don’t know if Alter-S runs any memory setters.

Or just play Bloomlord with BT9 Pomu to stop them from playing by effect and maybe BT5 Cutemon (Yes it's yellow but it's a fairy so free to play off of Sunflow/Ajitar) so they can't reduce evolution cost. If you go the Cutemon route, you might also want 1 or 2 copies of Golden Rapid as well so you can evo over them in matchups you don't need it for

No hate, but the Rave player might be new or scared to swing. He barely did anything that set
I think it was that combo paralysis you can get sometimes where you’re set on doing X because that’s what the deck does rather than doing Y. I do think alter S is hard to deal with since it has really good inbuilt protection but is that the same in your experience?
Don't know much about the decks being played in the video but that Omni build up from (almost) scratch at 5:00 is pretty fun to watch. The Ravemon player didn't stand much of a chance =l

It was recorded on the first week of ex4 so still learning the deck and the matchup but I am curious what the play was here? Seems like if you go into your 6 it gets bottom decked before you can start the loop with it. Should they have just gone wide and tried to do a rush for game?
@@TheSqueakyMoose I think the main play is go into crowmon and swing with it, using the effect to go into ravemon. End of attack ravemon disappears so it’s then safe from alter S.
But admittedly alter S had blocker most of the time here and so even if ravemon came out I think alter S just outpaced them.
@@xero1048you are correct that is the main play and I would have loved to do that. However, as you said he had blocker most of the time, but the other thing is that you need the tamer to do that play and I didn't have one that first game. And the second game I just got outpaced.
I bought all the pieces from EX4 for Ravemon, but I can't see it being worth running until BT13.
I think it just needs those final pieces in bt13 to really shine!

Man, Rave didn't swing ONCE! That's crazy. I feel like with Retaliation they should have had SOME confidence in swinging, but I guess not.
He could have made 2 ravemons in the First game but decides on the blocker/retaliton and then he didn't had memory for ravemon

I don’t know the deck very well so was it using the crow on effect or is it something else?
I think he was thinking of playing it to the combo MAX which hurt him but hard to judge since it was week 1 of the deck being out.
I’m sure we will see a comeback with the deck when it gets more support 💪🏻🥷
@@TheSqueakyMoose if he was playing against a slower deck the rebellimon would be the best choice, but against an omnimon alter deck, the crowmon into the rave was the better option, then preparing the next on the breed or the table, crowmon is such an amazing card.
@@toolittlescovil3811 yeah definitely would have been good to get into it, feels a bit like diaboromon in the sense you need your tamers and some time for the setup for the engine 🤔
I think this is the first time I've seen Alter-S win. A few people in my area tried it out for a couple weeks and constantly got bodied. Now nobody plays it.
Yeah decks not that great. It's just far to high roller and this will disappear after next week completely because everyone will be to busy with Knight zoo and Marcus dot deck
At our locals it’s been playing pretty consistent surprisingly. Whether it’s just been high rolling a lot and just getting lucky I’m not entirely sure, but it’s definitely a fun deck.
From my experience it’s a deck where you kinda have to start the chain without 1-2 of the pieces and then draw into them mid game. You’re doing that many draws off of evolving that you’ll probably see the remaining pieces. And if you don’t you usually have a pretty big reboot/blocker on the field and can dedigivolve or bottom deck something.
Definitely not top tier, but I think it’s fun as heck

Great quality vids and narration, but man everytime I watch Alter-S I'm bored out of my mind. Very one-note deck, one playstyle and one end-goal, is either rushing down or chugging horribly. Ravemon lost hard but it was more fun to watch them try rather than alter-s just doing the alter-s thing. Really unfun design imo for both players and spectators.

Alter S hard L's to plant players like my self who run Santi in good numbers (right now i run 3 and drew all 3 on a buddy of mine making him hard salty) and if u use it on the S stack they can't do anything. Just santi it and ignore it and then the can't turn it into alter B either because if they do. Boom it gets hydramon'd. That and ADR. that deck also has issues with that mach up. So if you for WHAT EVER REASON scared of this deck (i don't personally think alter S is a good deck but eh). There's options. Literally.
Side note: you can also play santi in alliance but i don't recommend it
Yeah good point! I haven’t had a chance to play against Alter S with bloom but that makes a lot of sense. I think of you highroll Alter S can go nuts but it all depends on the matchup and what answers you have. Bloom looks like it has the toolbox to shut it down 👌🏻
@@TheSqueakyMoose it really does. As good as the new rose stuff is I don't see bloom and hydra getting replaced. Bloom for kill and hydra for lock out and control is just to good

Alter S player did not make the DNA pile correctly...
I know that you can’t side stack your cards but I honestly don’t mind the dual power stance stack for clarity. Sometimes the talk stack is just too looooooong 😂

I’ll take responsibility for that, this was week 1 of ex4 so no time to practice and learn these new decks.
I still think ravemon had an uphill battle but if I waited a week before filming these matches we might have seen some different builds or strategies used to make this a closer set of games.
