I don't know how to properly rank this but this felt so wrong in at least 10 of the rankings and I am distraught by this video. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
So is Tatum 8 or is Curry 5? Because those are two completely different propositions in my mind. I can see Tatum being lower and this being colored by what I think he could be following their championship. I can’t see Steph as a top 5 player at 36.
I assume you’d put him over Tatum. SGA maybe? Which would have made sense for me last offseason. But a big guy coming off playing 39 games, with significant injury history, who’s never had a healthy playoff run and is turning 30… I couldn’t get there this year. His talent is there. But his availability isn’t. I’m OK with him proving me wrong, but I’m actually concerned that we’re way closer to the “end” for him than anybody wants to be the case.
Brunson is awesome! But top 5? I don’t see that. He’s already outperformed every conceivable expectation you could have put on him. But at some point I think it’s ok for a ceiling to fall short of tier 1 superstar MVP candidates.
i have zach lavine as the best player for the bulls, and i have sengun above cade, and id move paolo all the way above fox. brunson also should be top 10 at least, or at least above mitchell after outplaying him in two straight playoff series and leading his team to a better record, and then only lost in the second round bc the whole team got injured. i also think booker is better than kd, and that ad is better than lebron today, especially when u factor in just how insane ads defense is, and i also find it tough to rank only one of luka and jokic below giannis and the other above him, when i think luka is the pg version of jokic and jokic is the center version of luka
The dude has literally played 184 games in his entire career. The highlights are great, but he just isn’t available. Not that Simons is an iron man either. But that’s why we’re talking about the bottom 5 of the list. 26 or 27 isn’t much difference. Your team is trash if they’re your best player.
Man, I hate seeing curry at 8. Me personally I’m taking him over lebron, Tatum and SGA. Just the way he can facilitate any offense while also being a semi-decent defender
I can’t get that high with him at this point. I expect LeBron pushback, but Tatum is in his prime coming off a title and SGA was 2nd in MVP. But I respect your opinion on it, this stuff is all subjective.
Ja has a TON of movement potential on this list. We just have to see him back on the court and that the injuries and other stuff is behind him. Trae gets a big deduction from me for being possibly the worst defender in the league. The offense is crazy good, even if it’s not the most “fun” but the defense is atrocious. Steph is awesome. Still.
KD scored 2 more points per game last year, outside of that LeBron cleared him in almost every single other statistical category (including the advanced) and won the head to head matchup. They’re still very close to each other at this stage of their careers and obviously very impressive. I just value the facilitating part of LeBron’s game over what KD is doing.
You can flip flop them and I won’t have much complaint. I based the bulk of logic for this list off where I think they stand going into next season. It’s basically a coin flip to me with those two. I guess I just believe in Mitchell a tad more.
That feels bold to this point. I REALLY like what we saw for a stretch from Sengun last year but I’d like to see it continue to develop and I honestly don’t know if that’s the direction Houston is going to want to go in. Toronto is all in on Barnes, he’s made an All Star team already was ROY… he’s just shown more and is guaranteed opportunity moving forward.
Nice video! But in my opinion, Luka is 1 (I'm biased cause I'm a mavs fan). I get putting him below Jokic, but not below Giannis. In my opinion, I think Luka is the BEST playmaker in the league AND the BEST scorer in the league. This puts him in a league of his own in terms of offensive ability. And I get that Jokic can do that too. But I think Luka's the better playmaker and the better scorer than Jokic, and during the playoffs until the NBA finals we saw him do very well defensively and he was also injured. Giannis hasn't done anything noteworthy since 2021 (I get he has averaged 30 the last two seasons, but so has Luka) and Luka is only getting better. In terms of next season, the Mavs will be way better than the Bucks and Luka will also be better than Giannis. Better team, better player, that puts him over Giannis. Until I see Giannis do something crazy like carrying an injury riddled team to 50 wins or carrying a team to the finals next season, I'm not putting him above Luka.
Thanks! And I get your argument. For me it’s playing both ways. We saw brief moments of effort on defense from Luka in the playoffs. But it mostly stood out so much because we generally see none from him on that end. He’s generational on offense and he gives predominately zero effort on defense. He doesn’t need to be a lockdown defender. He just has to try, a little, consistently and he’s 1-2 on this list without hesitation.
Giannis destroyed the mavs in the bucks mavs matchup while completly outplaying him +luka has 0 defense literally one of the main reasons the celtics cleaned the floor with the mavs
You can quibble over 1 spot if you want to. But we’re not that far removed from “this dude is the next generational talent” and he’s only 24. Another season of injury and underwhelming results and he drops. And I already expect Paulo to climb. So next years list is probably going to make you happier. But for that small chance that the league dominant Zion can still exist? 1 spot on a list doesn’t feel that detrimental.
@@who.won.sports I know I just feel that *PAOLO* is already better than Zion has ever been, 2nd season all star, I like Zion but don't feel he'll be as good as Paolo imo (also im biased asf as a magic fan)
Thanks! Your point is fair and valid. But I kinda look at it like this: when AD disappears on offense but is still defending, they still have a shot at winning. If LeBron isn’t great, they don’t. AD can’t step in, the rest of the roster is inconsistent to put it kindly, and honestly they aren’t a high IQ team outside of him. So while AD SHOULD be the best player on that team, and can be on given nights, he needs to be setup and LeBron is still carrying the biggest load. While pushing 40.
Tatum in 5 😂 and Edwards in 9 ??! It’s very ridiculous, Edwards is one of the best player in this playoffs 2024, and in the finals, the best player of the Celtics was Jaylen Brown, not Tatum
Respect your opinion and appreciate you watching the video! Edwards could make a huge jump, but that Dallas series did not help his immediate case. And I don’t believe that Jaylen Brown gets to play the way he does in the finals if the defense isn’t focusing so heavily on stopping Tatum. He carries a lot of the burden to make those other guys’ lives easier and letting them focus on what they’re best at.
despite of how much I hate the word "casual" because of its excessive use in NBA discourse, I must say 'jb over Tatum because Tatum played bad in the finals' is the single most casual take in NBA discourse right now.
Embid over Curry?, Curry back to back MVP, Unanimous MVP, Finals MVP All Star MVP 3 point King, you have to guard him from the half court, double team or triple team him and he is number 8? And Embid a Mickey Mouse MVP never passed the first or second round off the playoffs Over Curry who beat Embid over and over again geez the disrespect on curry wow
I think Tatum was great in the finals. Shot didn’t fall, but he shouldered the burden of being the primary focus of the defense and turned himself into a playmaker so that the other guys got to play to their strengths. I didn’t think Iggy was the best player on GSW when he won FMVP and I don’t think FMVP makes Brown the best on the Celtics either.
