Thank you I love watching your videos. Just started down this road of painting lures. Wonderful that some of you share so much. I appreciate all of the work you have done.
I've heard that if you are getting air bubbles in the epoxy when brushing it on you can take a small butane torch and hold it 8 or so inches away from the bait and just sweep it back and forth across the lure. Should cause the air bubbles rise and pop. Awesome work by the way man, you have some serious talent.
Wow, really good work. Really good video. Very clear on instruction. I have not browsed through your other videos yet, but I was wanting to know do you have any tips for someone just starting out? The best places to get different styles of blanks and paints, rings, hooks. Really considering getting into this. There is not a whole lot of this going in in my area. If you have any input or other videos or knowledge and feel like sharing please do so!
Regarding blanks you can start looking at www.dingerbaits.com get the squarebill 2.5s to start painting since its the easiest. I've also gotten some blanks on Ebay as well. Keep watching videos on TH-cam and then experiment. If you screw up, you can wash the paint off the bait with warm water if you haven't clear coated yet. Don't give up and keep trying. I like Transparent paints because I like how the colors layer upon each other. If you want more info email me at mike@luremeincrankbaits.com
Great video. I have watched a few of your videos now. Intrested in starting to paint some lures. Where do you do get the devcon 2 ton epoxy and the glitter or fleck to put in the expoxy? Will keep looking for any new videos. Again great job.
I get the Devcon from Amazon.. Search around. to make sure you get a good price. Don't look on ebay! They will get ya for $20 for one... The fleck on believe I got on tacklewarehouse.com
+Lure Me In Custom Painted Crankbaits , can you make a basic video of painting a lure? Can I paint over other colors? How do I paint a silver spoon gold? How do I make it reflective, shiny, and last without repainting? Do you use anything like epoxy over the paint to make it last? Can I do it with just paint, No airbrushing?
Maybe just barely licking the surface of the epoxy coat with a small blow torch or zapping it with a heat gun would get rid of most of the surface bubbles.
+Lure Me In Custom Painted Crankbaits I've noticed ove the years that crappie have a light blue at the end of there tail. I think that would really make it realistic. pls reply
Great video. Nice that you explained everything as you go. No dead air. Thx

You can do that. I never have.. Just mix your epoxy slower and when brushing it on do long even strokes
Really like your videos. I’m particularly interested in the techniques, templates and tools you use. Wondering what airbrush you use? Cheers 👍

Hi Matt - I have one airbrush and I just clean the brush between colors. Its a simple process to clean the brush.

Why you don't spray the clear coat ?
The clear coat is DevCon's 2ton epoxy. Can't spray that.
