You may have to wait 1yr+ before it fills. But it will fill 😅
If you watch an SPY 5 minute candle, almost everyday, intraday gaps form. Also, almost every single candle has a tail candle. If you see price action push away from flat tops and flat bottoms, it almost always returns to trade through that price by 1 tick.
Put a different way, 5 minute SPY candles almost always have wicks, and if they do not, it is almost guaranteed that a subsequent candle will trade through that price by a penny.
Sometimes these gaps can get fairly large 30 to 40 cents.... Never ever expect more than a touch though. Because while you almost always get a retest, sometime it's just that, a spike and then back in the previous direction.
Great video, I have two questions: 1. The 2 candles have to be the same types (green-green, or red-red)?. 2. Different timeframe give different candle pairs sometimes. For example, on 15 minutes time frame, it gives 2 green imbalanced candles, but when you changed it to 5 minutes, sometimes the lower candle is red.
What happens when price just continues to go down or up away from the volume imbalance? I know it happens sometimes but many times price will just continue. For example, the other day, Spy gapped down and just continued to go down and still hasn’t recovered yet. Are you saying that while it might not be in the same day it’ll eventually go back to that volume imbalance zone? I am new to trading and just trying to learn, thanks.

What i dont understand is, when i look at the second gap you showed us, the following candle already filled the gap. So why should price come back again? Are there some more rules?

My rules with gaps is as follows: 70% of gaps get filled by around 70%, 70% of the time. There's no "always always" in trading, the market doesn't care about your emotions or your rules. Nothing is guaranteed in trading, nothing.
