You basically started the ascendancy level mode, this mode is similar to nightmare with the difference being the higher the exp requirement to advance (an ascendancy level is equivalent to 2-4 nightmare levels) The ascendancy mode provides double stat scaling making the user get better stats in a faster manner. As well as the attribute point accumulation having +5 more point provision (+10 perks per level) Ascendancy mode is basically endgame where it is the moment for you to break the gamw.
Basically, after you beat season 1, you're automatically put into nightmare mode. There's no quests related to it, and you're basically just running around, killing harder and harder bosses on maps you've already unlocked
