    I love the way you notice the floor is being lighted too much. And the simple feathering of the soft box and then adjusting in post with the gradient. Can you tell me what that cart/stroller looking thing is in the video?

    I prefer the edited darker one, too.
    It's interesting, or maybe not, many photographers seem to look down on the 24-105mm f4 and insist that you need the 24-70mm f2.8 for its faster aperture, I've not currently got either, but think the longer reach may be more useful (and quite a price difference) than the extra stop, particularly with the high ISO capabilities of more recent camera models, it seems that if you can live without the shallower DoF, maybe the f4 lens is more useful, I know this is maybe a bit of a chalk and cheese question, but what do you think?
    Sure, we'd all like to always shoot primes, but life isn't always that simple!

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on style really. This photo I knew I wanted more DoF but for a lot of what I do I want to be at f/2 for style reasons. I find the aperture to be the greatest style choice more than anything else

    • @Simon-SBL
      @Simon-SBL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think so too, or at least out to focus ability, I sometimes use a Lensbaby, probably partly for the same reason you dangle things in front of the lens and because I'm a glutton for punishment! haha

    Interesting video. You used a term I haven't heard before when referring to the two Profoto lights at either side of the ballroom. I believe you called them intelligent lights. Is that correct? Can you please link to them. I would liketo read about them.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      intelligent lights are the lights that are installed in the ceiling of the ballroom that are controlled by the venue, and "intelligently" can move around to the music. :-)

    I've noticed this on other videos too. Does the profoto actually record the TTL settings after shot on the display? For example, you initially shoot in TTL, and I'm assuming the display records the value 1/32. The reasons why I ask, is that most of the systems I've used in TTL still just display "TTL" after firing and don't show the value.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn’t show the value on the transmitter, but it does on the flash unit and then when you switch to manual it holds that value

      @@VanessaJoy Thanks for replying to a critic ( this must be hard ). I like to keep things constructive. So, if you could have edited a simple flash Portrait and then followed up with the second edit to flex your editing muscles :), it would have made more sense to the viewer who is in to learn the flash photography in a large room and not be surprised.
