My 19-year-old is the one that knows how to use it, but I find myself needing to fix dinner for everybody and our instructions are packed up. No matter what I did, though I could not get the steam to stop coming out. Your video did it. Thank you so much!
Even in 2024, buying a new instant pot and they still have this exact issue from time to time. Even after double cleaning valve, ring etc. Thank you man, this is the way.
The fact that we have to do this little trick to get the float valve to rise on our brand new, Instant Pots is an indication that they were made on the "night shift."
So, this works. I will say this though. I have found that a lot of the time when I have had to do this, after I finish making whatever I am making I will do a really thorough cleaning of the entire instant pot. I have very small food particles in the lid track on the top of the unit itself. I use a wet q-tip and clean all inside that track. This seems to make a difference for a while. Your tip is a life saver! And a headache ender!!
Holy shit that works a lot of steam was leaking into my cabinets thanks. I bought a new one because the old was always doing that and spilling water everywhere. Then my month old pot stared to do the same thanks for the tip.
I just replaced the ring and pop up gasket and cleaned the steam release nozzle and replaced the steam release knob. Still leaked . Pulled up on lid handle and let it down. It shut right up! Old ip but back in business. Thanks.
I came on here specifically to find a solution to this as I’m cooking dins & yet again, the valve refuses to rise on it’s own. THANK YOU for giving us a quick fix! Curious, why are they not popping up like they should? I replaced my sealing ring, but that didn’t help. Hmmm 🤔
I've discovered a few things are going on when you have to do this. Always make sure the sealing ring is loose but centered to the metal ring inside the lid. And depending on how much the Instant Pot is used or how old it is, it could be time to be replaced.
Yeah this happens because the silicon seal inside the lid isn’t in the right place. Just check the seal is in its groove before you use is and it shouldn’t happen again
Have you tried to clean or change the valve with the silicone cap? … I was doing the same, one day I forgot to pressurize “manually “ a water leak broke the display, making the pot useless.
I did your trick, the metal piece do come up, but as soon I let go the handle it goes down again. What am I doing wrong? I am about to give up on not.😂
just clean the poppit valve you are trying to force up. you are making it seal by adding extra pressure when you slam down the lid. the little seal under that valve is super easy to clean.
I guess I have a newer version, and this trick didn't work. I then pried up the valve with a dull knife and now it's cooking. Probably lost most of its water during the 20 minutes of just rattling around though.
Thank you! 1st timer and I didn't know what was happening!
