Very informative!! Thank you, I learned a lot about my lid from you that I had not found anywhere else. Everyone with an Instant Pot should watch this.
Thanks for this video. I was just about to throw my instant pot away. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why my lid wouldn’t close. Thanks to this video I found out the pin was jammed. Hammered it back in place, working again :) Was out of place from the lid falling and having a small crack in the lid.
Thanks, I was wondering what happened to that piece for the pressure pin. OK I just edited this after looking around for that little piece and I found it, thanks for the visual. Oh and I think you forgot to add that the lid can hook on the side of the handle so you're not looking for a place to set it.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve tried troubleshooting and gave up trying to use my pot. I’m going to try again tomorrow!! You are the only one who has done this. The website doesn’t explain and my manual isn’t helpful either.
MOST INFORMATIVE video on Instant Pot. My lid wouldn't slide closed. Turns out it was the 6:40 info on that little round button that is linked to another part. Moved it a bit ..... I'm now cooking my beans!! THANK YOU DUDE! I also learned I can take that round cage thing can easily come off .. and mine was so filthy underneath ..now clean.
Thank you so much. That rubber bit was what was causing my lid not to close. I took apart the other part and it seemed like it was working as it should, but I had no idea that it was connected to that. Mine had spun and gotten caught
WTBM 123 - Thank you, thank you, thank you ‼️ The lid on my Nesco Professional Pressure Cooker would not open, and ….. thanks to you, I was able to open it by following your directions. Since our cooked dinner was in the pressure cooker, I had to get it opened. So, everyone in my Family says, Good Job❗️, WTBM 123‼️ We will recommend this video to friends. My instant pot comes to pressure, the valve rises, and then a few minutes later the steam release knob even though is in the sealing position it starts spurting out steam. This is a new problem we just started having..any reason why? Thanks
Thank you! Great, informative video! Just one thing....I have seen several videos (including on Instant Pot website), that there is a wire ring/clip that goes under the Steam Release Handle, over the silicone washer inside the handle. I accidentally dropped my lid and the release handle flew off so now I don't know if it is supposed to have a wire clip in there or not. You didn't mention anything about it in your video so maybe not all models have it. We have the Duo 6qt. Do you know? Thank you in advance!
This is great, especially after 6min when you talk about the Pin. Keep it clean is vital. I expected there to be a light spring to keep this closed as mine falls open by gravity when I close the lid. I don't see how it can ever close because any steam escapes before it can build up any pressure. I'd prefer a design with a small car radiator cap, like on newer Japan cars. Since ALL radiator caps open at 1 atmosphere pressure (about 14.4 psi) this is enough pressure to steam food.
for some reason my lid wont close or open because the lid locking pin/ spring isnt working right, I can still get it to open or shut but its a hassle, I think I need a new spring because the "sliding fork" keeps hitting my floating valve pin....adult problems lol. im even able to take it apart there are 2 rubber black push ins you can take out and take out 2 more screws and take out the actual sliding fork as well! theres 2 magnets inside by prying the black piece out. my only queston is can you replace the spring? can i get universal spring sizes at a auto value store?
Thank you so much. I had a guarantee for 2 quarts eclectic pressure cooker. I was given some cash return on it when it did not work. I check out the video brought the parts and will try tomorrow , I held on to it for a year ,I will let you know if it worked,
A question about the pin. I have replacement seal that goes on the underside of the lid, but the plastic piece you put on the top of the pin- is the same seal or a plastic cap? I can’t tell if the plastic rings are the same on the top and bottom of the pin. I ordered replacement parts and i received 3 plastic rings. Does that make sense? It looks to me like the plastic you put on the top side of the pin is a closed cap
The pin just has a gasket on inside . The black plastic thing is different if talking about the pressure - vent valve . It has no gasket . If i am understanding correctly
Was searching for a tutorial for the Nutricook, I'm surprised that the Instapot looks exactly like the Nutricook. Needed info on installing the pressure release valve. Kept feeling like because it feels jiggly, it's not properly installed. Glad to know that it jiggles. Thank you.
Thanks for the information, but how do you get the little metal pin back in. Mine fell out so it does not come to pressure. I have tried everything and it doesn't fit. Also, my vent piece on top falls off when ever I tilt it. It seem I lost the silicone piece inside. I have only used it 4 times. I have the duo sv.
Good afternoon sir I have the instant pot 8 court duo. Every once in a while I am noticing steam is blowing past my red pop up. I have to dig at the side of it gently with a pointed object and the red valve will pop up. Now that I Have seen your video I'm going to Try and take it apart to clean it. But can you tell me the minimum amount of water to use for the water test
The steel circular deal next to the pin (on the inside) won’t budge. I just got it so I don’t need to clean it yet....I don’t want to break it trying to get it off. Is this going to be a problem?
I have l LID Error on my steamer and the lid wigles loose. I changed the silicone ring and it goes on anyway. Is it a reset possibility to fix a problem?
If all is real clean and moving well , the gasket is new and you are sure the rubber like gasket is good and on the pin correctly , Then you should contact customer service as they will probably help you figure it out .
I just bought my instant pot a few days ago and mine has a different method of sealing and venting. Mine has a little switch knob to move up or down not the vent itself. Occasionally I'll get steam coming from the Pin area instead of the venting area. Sometimes I can release the steam and it'll come out fine after the pressure cooking sometimes there's none to release. It could also be I'm still too new to figure out how long it takes for things to come to pressure, and if this is normal?
To get to pressure is not always the same time . The temp of food , how much liquid and things can make for longer or shorter times to pressure . Make sure there is enough liquid . And liquid first in most , then dry stuff on top and do not stir so liquid stays on bottom longer with no burn notice
@wtbm123 it turns out that when I bought it: The box and instantpot itself were dented! You can imagine my surprise when my mother in law pointed that out!
Today I was starting to make collard greens , I first put 1 cup water mines a 6 Qt. then put ham hock and some onion , fatback grease put lid on locked it set to pressure hit manual then 15 minutes. It started fine came up to pressure and started counting down got to 12 minutes then I heard a lot pot and pressure looked and the front part of lid and popped out from the groove thing . I hit the off button and pushed to pressure release valve waited . It took me 5 or ten minutes to get the lid off, I did a list check going over everything can't find anything wrong. The lid goes on and locks fine . I tried it again making sure the lid is on pushed down then turned to lock position . Any help you may have would be great.
Can either contact instantpot Or there are several venders on Amazon and other online shopping places . And i could be wrong , but was thinking target may carry some things ,
The different seals are pretty. But yeah, it makes sense to change them between cooking. It's good that the company provides the parts needed. Most thing these days just want you to replace the whole unit.
Get a hold of instant pot support . They are great at helping with issues . also make sure everything on lid is assembled right and all parts move free
i have removed the silicon cap from the pin n tested steam run . failed . after watchng this i realised there should cap under pin ( valve) . now my steam run went fine . thanx .
Do you have enough thin liquid to build pressure . I would suggest doing a water test to see if it works that way . If the water test works then the instant pot is ok
Thank you for your coaching. You explained down to the lowest denominator. I am a senior and I understood with ease. Thank you again.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you sir. This was super useful and easy to walk through putting the pin back in. Keep up the good work.

If leaking around the gasket where lid goes on then get a new gasket and try . as long as you see no damage of the pot its self
